alan wilbur minette

 

Mr. Alan Wilbur Minette, age 74, of Hiawassee, GA., passed away November 10, 2003 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following a period of declining health.  He was born to the late Anthony and Martha (Cisco) Minette on May 16, 1929 in Todd County, Minnesota.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Minette of Hiawassee, GA; one daughter and son-in-law, Marianne and Terry Thompson of Young Harris, GA; four sons, Alan Wayne Minette of Young Harris, GA., Donald and Janice Minette of Hiawassee, GA., Michael Minette of New Port News, VA., John and Dianne Minette of Hiawassee, GA., one step son, Kevin Warren of Young Harris, GA; one sister, June Dominicus of Old Bridge, NJ; one step sister, Lorraine Hehlo, also of Old Bridge, NJ; five grandchildren, Julie and Josh Taylor, Tracy Lyvers, Brent Thompson and Colbey Warren; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at 2:00 PM from Cornerstone Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and the Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating.  Interment was in the church cemetery.  Music was provided by Janice Minette and Justin Shook.  Pallbearers were Brent Thompson, Josh Taylor, Kevin Warren, Allen Nichols, Don Minette and John Minette.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee was in charge of arrangements.

mr. donald elmer gutermuth

 

Mr. Donald Elmer Gutermuth, age 72 of Hiawassee, GA passed away November 13, 2003 following a period of declining health.

He was born in Baltimore County, MD on April 10, 1931 to the late George and Lillian (Von Bodenberg) Gutermuth.  Mr. Gutermuth was a drill instructor for the Marine Corps, and member of V.F.W. Post 7807.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Camille Gutermuth of Hiawassee, GA; two daughters, Donna Hatfield and Rebecca Camus both of Pensacola, FL; two sons, Donald Gutermuth Jr. and Mark Daniel Gutermuth also of Pensacola, FL; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 2 p.m. from the V.F.W. Post 7807.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to: Survivors Fund c/o V.F.W. Post 7807, P.O. Box 927, Hiawassee, GA 30546.

hunter brannan

 

Master Hunter Blake Brannan, age 5, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at his home.  Master Brannan attended McConnell memorial Baptist Church and was enrolled in preschool there.

Survivors include his father and mother, Jason and Maryann Brannan of Hiawassee.  Paternal grandparent’s, Tom and Linda Brannan of Stockbridge, GA; maternal grandmother, Charlene Scott of Jonesboro, GA; maternal grandparents, Ricky and Cindy Waters of Hiawassee, GA; paternal great-grandfather, Jesse Duffey of McDonough, GA; maternal great-grandparents, Roy and Mary Waters of Fayetteville, GA; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 14, 2003 at 2:00 pm from McConnell Memorial Baptist Church, with Dr. Rudy Patton officiating. Pallbearers were Wesley Beach, Billy Dixon, Jason Ledford, Chip Shively, Mitchell Dayton and George Brannan.  Music was provided by Lee Worley and Marc McFarland.

Interment was in the Osborn Cemetery in Hiawassee; Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee was in charge of arrangements.

john marshall martin, sr.

 

Memorial services for John Marshall Martin, Sr., age 97, of Demorest, formerly of Hiawassee, was held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 16, 2003 at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarkesville, GA., with the Rev. Graham Wood and the Rev. Harry Cain officiating.

Mr. martin passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at Habersham Home West in Demorest.

Born in Donaldsonville, GA., October 26, 1906, Mr. martin was the son of the late William and Mary Gibson Martin.  Mr. Martin was a master electrician.  He owned and operated Tropical Electric until his retirement in 1970.  He then moved to Hiawassee, GA., in 1971.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louisa McDaniel martin; a daughter, Mary Ann martin Wood; brothers Charles T. Martin, William T. Martin, Benjamin Martin, Emmor Graham Martin; and a sister Harriet Martin Page.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and George Patterson of Hiawassee; a son and daughter-in-law, John M. and Phoebe Martin, Jr., of Clarkesville, GA., seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made in memory of John Marshall Martin, Sr., to: King College, c/o The Mary Ann Martin Wood Scholarship, 1350 King College Road, Bristol, TN 37620-2699.

Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville was in charge of the arrangements.
