jake matthew gibson

 

Little Jake Matthew Gibson, infant son of Matthew and Amber Gibson, went to be with Jesus on Thursday November 16, 2006 from the Union General Hospital.

Survivors include his father and mother, Matthew and Amber Souther Gibson of Ivy Log Rd. Young Harris; grandparents, Rev. Bryan and Helen Souther of Young Harris; Edward Gibson of Blairsville; Wanda M. Gibson of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles and cousins and many other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were held on Friday November 17, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bryan Souther officiating.

miss nancy “ann” boughnou

 

Miss Nancy “Ann” Boughnou, age 53, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2006 following a period of declining health.  She was born to Edward and Nancy McCrea Miles on May 11, 1953 in Portsmouth, VA.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Tina Boughnou and one nieces, “Amanda Joy Boughnou of Blairsville, GA; one uncle, Russ Boughnou of Dallas, TX, and cousins, Tom, Karen, Steve, and ken Boughnou.

Graveside services here held on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. from the Laurel Hills memory Garden with the Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.  Interment was also in Laurel Hills Memory Garden.

denise davis grassi

 

Mrs. Denise Davis Grassi, age 52, of Young Harris, GA, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2006, at her home.

Mrs. Grassi was born on Thursday, October 14, 1954, in Dade County, FL, a daughter of Christine Davis and the late John Merrill Davis.  She had lived here in Georgia for the past 13 years, moving here from Deltone, FL.  Mrs. Grassi had owned a Bed and breakfast and was an active member of Blairsville-Union County Chamber of Commerce; a member of the Antique Auto Club, and was a member of the Living Word Revival Center in Hayesville, NC.  She had worked as a substitute teacher in North Carolina.  Denise was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 2003.

Survivors include her mother, Christine Davis, of Live Oak, FL; a brother, Clarence M. Davis, of Colorado Springs, CO; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 2 p.m., at the Living Word Revival Center in Hayesville, NC with Pastor Steven Swisher officiating.  Music was provided by, Buddy Denedict.  Pallbearers were: Dennis handy, Zan Brantley, Glen Masone, Todd Wooten, Allen Sherlock and Doug Bowden.  Burial was in Many Forks Baptist Church Cemtery.

Visitation was held at the Living Word Revival Center starting at 1 p.m., one hour prior to the funeral service.

mrs. karen bach schipper

 

Mrs. Karen Back Schipper, age 61, passed away at her home in Hiawassee, GA on Wednesday, November 15, 2006.  Karen loved the mountains, the people, and the beauty of the Hiawassee area.  She found the home that she wanted for retirement and relocated from Conyers, GA to Hiawassee, GA in March of 2006.  Karen was to have only a few brief months to enjoy it, so only a few people were fortunate enough to know her.  Karen was blessed with an indomitable spirit, always a positive attitude, and a delightful personality.  A loving and devoted mother, she loved her family and genuinely cared for people and animals, befriending them all.  Karen was born October 29, 1945 to the late William J. and Lorraine Moore Bach in West Point, NY  She spent her early years on numerous Army posts until her marriage on December 30, 1963 to Paul M. Schipper in Aberdeen, MD.  Most of her adult life was spent in Connersville and the Crawfordsville, IN until moving to Conyers, GA in 1999.

Karen is survived by her husband, Paul M. Schipper of Hiawassee, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Paul M. Jr. and Heather Schipper and grandson, Owen of Clearwater, FL; son John M. Schipper of Madison, WI; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sandy Bach of Indianapolis, IN.

She will be deeply missed by all.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, GA in charge of arrangements with interment in Laurel Hills Memory Gardens of Hiawassee, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to your favorite charity caring for the needs of people or animals.
