andrew earl dann, sr.

 

Mr. Andrew Earl Dann, Sr., age 87, of Young Harris, GA, formerly of Miami and Tallahassee, FL, passed away Friday, November 27, 2996 after a period of declining health.  Mr. Dann was born September 29, 1919 in Miami, FL to Elonzo Dann, Sr. and Albina Rose Johnson Dann.  He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters for over fifty years and served in many positions of leadership, eventually becoming Executive Secretary of the Florida State Council of Carpenters in Tallahassee, FL>  For the past twenty-two years he has enjoyed retirement and pursued genealogical research and travel.  He attended school in Miami, FL and was a graduate of Florida International University.  He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Gloria Cole Dann and grandson, Andrew E. Dann, III.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew Jr. and Barbara Dann of the home, Carl Sr. and Mary Dann of Athens, GA; grandchildren, Carl Pittman Dann, Jr., James Andrew Dann, David Edward Dann, Andrew Lenore Dann, and Gloria Rene meadows; step-grandchildren, Kevin M. and Todd R. Fernondey; eight great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Banister Funeral Home in Hiawassee, GA with the Rev. David Dann officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or 1-800-342-2383.

ruby lynn watson

 

Ruby Lynn Watson, age 82, of Young Harris, GA, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the home of her daughter on Forsyth.  Mrs. Watson was born October 18, 1924 in Franklin, NC.  She was the daughter of the late Jesse C. and Mary C. Ball.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, William P. Watson and her second husband, James H. Bass; one brother, Maurice Ball.  Mrs. Watson was a member of McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee, GA and had worked with the Dougherty County Board of Education for many years.

Survivors include one son, Gregory P. Watson, Sr. of Atlanta; one daughter, Connie Watson Turner of Forsyth; one step-daughter, Marsha Bass Buchannan of Putney; one brother, J.G. “Bud” Ball of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Hilda Boyer of Dayton, FL and Hazel Kohlbecker of Springfield, IL; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 28, 2006 in the chapel of hall & hall Funeral Home with Rev. J.B. Redd officiating.  Interment was in Floral memory Gardens.  The family received friends at Hall & hall Funeral Home Monday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

bonnie lee edwards

 

Mrs. Bonnie Lee Edwards, age 84, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.

Mrs. Edwards was born Thursday, December 22, 1921 in Towns County, Georgia to the late Lawrence Nichols and Bessie Shook Nichols.  She was a member of North Mt. Zion Church of God and was preceded in death by husband, Grady Edwards, brother, Jr. Nichols, sisters, Alva Cowart and Florence Jenkins.

Survivors include: son, Chester Edwards of Dalton, GA, daughter, Norene Cimino of Norcross, GA, daughter, Sue Dills of Lilburn, GA, son, Carl Edwards of Hiawassee, GA, daughter, Glenda Stephens of Young Harris, GA, brothers, Ralph Nichols of Hiawassee, GA, Willard Nichols of Cleveland, GA and Lex Nichols of Maryville, TN, sisters, Donnie Ellis of Hiawassee, GA, Mildred Woody of Hayesville, NC and Mae Dills of Tyron, NC, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 24, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. from the North Mt. Zion Church of God with Rev. Raburne Wilson and Rev. Chester Edwards officiating.  Music was provided by Rev. Raburne Wilson Family.  Interment was in Burch Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Matthew Dills, Mark Edwards, Chris Edwards, Justen Cimino, Christopher Edwards, Nathan Edward.  Honorary pallbearers were: Cory Ellis, Cody Edwards, Caitlin Edwards.
