mrs. eula ledford garrett

 

Mrs. Eula Ledford Garrett, age 95 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Monday, November 21, 2005 at Union General Hospital.

Mrs. Garrett was born Thursday, September 1, 1910 in Towns County, GA to the late Manson and Laura (Sims) Ledford.  She was a member of Bell Scene Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Emory B. Garrett and a daughter, Reba Neal Moose.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Blon and Robert Hunt of Flowery Branch, GA, son & daughter-in-law, E. J. and Charlotte Garrett of Hiawassee, GA, son & daughter-in-law, Harold and Phylis Garrett of Loganville, GA, son & daughter-in-law, Rickey and Dianne Garrett of Young Harris, GA, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. David Berrong officiating.  Interment was in Bell Scene Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Robert McIntosh, Richard Garrett, Zachary Nicholson, Lanier Hunt, Laurel McClure, Benjamin Hogsed, Todd Fagan, Ronnie Thomas.

mr. harold marvin gibson

 

Mr. Harold Marvin Gibson, age 59 of Jasper, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2005

Mr. Gibson was born Thursday, June 27, 1946 in Towns County, GA to the late Luther Gibson and Laura “Lizzie” Ellis Gibson.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was an U.S. Army Veteran.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Tracy and Daniel Hernandez of Jasper, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Patricia and Bill Wood of Ball Ground, GA, daughter, Terri Gibson of Jasper, GA, son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Michelle Gibson of jasper, GA, sisters, Orene Crowe of Holly Springs, GA and Carol Jean Ledford of Hiawassee, GA.  10 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were be held Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 3 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Goodwin and Rev. Floyd Ellis officiating.  Music was provided by Bobby Ellis and Martha Barrett.  Interment was in Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Carl Easter, Scott Duckworth, Tim Ledford, Frankie Stanton, Bobby Richards, D.J. Caddell, Joey Ellis.

mrs. sarah virginia deitz martin

 

Sara Virginia Deitz Martin, formerly of Young Harris, passed away Saturday night in Norcross, Georgia after a long illness.

Born in Young Harris in 1935, she was seventy years old.  The daughter of the late Frank Deitz and Beulah N. “Tootsie” Deitz, both natives of the Towns/Union area.  Virginia Ginger, as she was know to her family and friends – grew up in Young Harris, attended Towns County public schools and Young Harris Academy and College.

She worked in the YHC business office during the late 1950s before marrying and moving to the Atlanta area, though she continued to maintain a lifelong interest in the Young Harris Community.  In the late 1960s she and her family moved to Savannah, Georgia, where she worked at Armstrong College before returning to the Atlanta area in the 1970s.

The mother of two children, Frank Willcox of McKinney, Texas and Leann Underwood of Lynchburg, Virginia, she is also survived by her husband, Richard Martin of Atlanta, Georgia; her mother, Beulah N. Deitz, now in the Chatuge Nursing Home; a sister, Wilda Quarantino of Goodyear, Arizona; a brother, Tom Deitz of Oakwood, Georgia; four grandchildren; three aunts, two nieces, and many cousins.

At various times, Virginia worked in real estate, and she was for many years an employee of Siemens, Inc., from which she recently retired.

She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister.

mrs. myrtle mcclure trulove

 

Mrs. Myrtle McClure Trulove, age 89, of Asheville, NC (formerly of Young Harris, GA) passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2005, at Aston Park Health Care Center in Asheville, NC.  She was a native of Young Harris, GA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert R. Trulove; parents, Thomas C. and Leila Justice McClure; granddaughter, Pam Murray; two sisters and one brother.  Myrtle was a former member of West Union Baptist Church in Young Harris, GA.  She is survived by daughters Bobbie and Leona Trulove; grandson Gerald Murray and wife Holly; two great granddaughters, Savannah and Sheridan; sister Mildred M. Plott and brother Charles McClure and his wife Ruth, of Blairsville, GA; sister-in-law, Ruth T. Carter and several nieces and nephews also survive.  Graveside services were held on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Asheville, NC with Chaplain Butch Stillwell officiating.  Pallbearers were Billy Rice, Wayne Conner, Mike Goforth, Craig Goforth, Jared Goforth, and Gerald Murray.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. mrs. nellie kelley stewart

 

Mrs. Nellie Kelley Stewart, age 103 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.

Mrs. Stewart was born Saturday, February 1, 1902 in Towns County, GA to the late Nish and Ila (Gillespie) Kelley.  She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Stewart and a son, James Stewart.

Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, Harold and Norma Stewart of Mogadore, OH, son & daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Stewart of Coldwater, MI, sister, Burdell Woodford of Greenville, SC, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 10 a.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.  Graveside services will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron, Ohio November 30, 2005 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dale Fisher officiating.  In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorial donations be made to Macedonia Baptist Church.

mrs. alma magdalene linsley

 

Mrs. Alma Magdalene Linsley, age 81 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Monday, November 21, 2005 at her home.

Mrs. Linsley was born Friday, November 30, 1923 in Niantic County, CT to the late Daniel and Mary (Haynes) Miller, Sr.  She had lived here since 1984 coming here from Ft. Pierce, FL.  She was a member of member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the AARP.

Survivors include: husband, Walter Linsley of Hiawassee, GA, son, Bruce Linsley of Ft. Pierce, FL, daughter Janis Reagan of Lithonia, GA, daughter, Sally Ann Wright of Ft. Pierce, FL, seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, sister, Viola Adamo of Westhaven, CT, Shirley Kuszpa of New Haven, CT.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.  Interment was in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Danny Reagan, II, Calobe Rodriquez, Shane Wilson, Brent McCurdy, Gary Twyman and Vernon Shafer.
