walter james linsley

 

Mr. Walter James Linsley, age 85, of Lithonia, GA, formerly of Hiawassee and Ft. Pierce, FL, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Heartland Hospice.  Mr. Linsley was born Monday, December 19, 1921 in new Haven County, CT to the late Benjamin Palmer Linsley and the late Phyllis Jenkins Linsley.  Mr. Linsley was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Linsley.

Mr. Linsley is survvied by his son, Bruce Linsley of Lithonia, GA; daughters, Janis Reagan of Lithonia, GA and Sally Ann Stokes of Ft. Pierce, FL.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 11 a.m. from Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.

jerry lamar youngblook

 

Mr. Jerry Lamar Youngblood, age 56 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Friday, November 30, 2007 following a period of declining health.  He was born to the late Everett and Jessie Ledford Youngblood on May 19, 1951 in Towns County, GA.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

He is survived by two children, Richard and Jody Youngblood, both of Greer, SC; two brothers, Dennis and Richard Youngblood, both of Hiawassee, GA; three grandchildren and three nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Youngblood were held on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mike Youngblood officiating.  Music was provided by Julia Youngblood.  Pallbearers were Jeff, John and Damon Youngblood, Dale Nicholson, Larry Owens and Frank Dills.  Interment was in Lower Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery.

emma alice varao

 

Mrs. Emma Alice Varao, age 87, of Hiawassee, GA passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007.  Mrs. Varao was born Monday, December 15, 1919 in Jackson County, OR to the late William and Dorothy Randolph Benton.  She was of the Catholic Faith but attended the Cowboy Church.  She also attended the Towns County Senior Center, and enjoyed making quilts and gardening.  Mrs. Varao was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Varao, Sr.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Donna and Ralph McClanahan of Hayward, CA; son & daughter-in-law, Joe and Sally Varao of Hiawassee, GA; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held December 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rayburne Wilson officiating.  Music was provided by Ryan Wilson and Gary Taylor.
