mrs. laverne madeline conforti

 

Mrs. Laverne Madeline Conforti, age 72, of Young Harris, GA, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at her home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Conforti was born on October 1, 1932 in Pittsburg, PA, the daughter of the late Vernon Meiers and the late Madeline Schultis Meiers.  She assisted her husband in the operations of their restaurants in Fox Chapel, PA, and Miami, FL.  She was a long time member of the Young At Heart Club of Hayesville.  Mrs. Conforti was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Surviving Mrs. Conforti are her loving husband, Kenneth James Conforti, Sr., of Young Harris, one son, Kenneth Conforti, Jr., of Trinity, FL, two daughters and one son-in-law, Theda and Mark Bokan of Wildwood, FL, Cindy Lou Carpenter of Anchorage, Alaska, grandchildren, Julea Wood of Los Angeles, CA, Caley McGrane, Meagan McGrane and Derek Wood all of Atlanta, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 11 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Wise officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Ken Conforti, Jr., Mark Bokan, John Casbarro, Derek P. Wood, Bill Treese, and John Barone.  Interment will following the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Pittsburg, PA, at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2004.  Visitation will be on Wednesday 4 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home with a Rosary held at 7 p.m.  Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of arrangements.

mrs. joan marie brown sutton

 

Mrs. Joan Marie Brown Sutton, age 73, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on December 1, 2004 following an extended illness.  She was born to the late Lester and Anna (VanSickle) Brown on October 7, 1931 in Essex County, NY and raised by Fred A. and Lila Belle Brown.  She graduated from Potsdam High School.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and had lived in Hiawassee, GA since 1986.  She is survived by her husband, Mr. Charles Sutton, of Hiawassee, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Rev. Dan Davis, of Cartersville, GA; Kathleen and Lon Lackey, of Wilmington, NC; Mary Beth Griffin, of lake City, FL; Leslie and Raymond Lewis III, of Fruitland Park, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Robert and Kim Sutton, of Lehigh Acres, FL; one sister, Mrs. Leona Perin, of Potsdam, NY; sixteen grandchildren, David Davis and wife Carolyn Bridges Davis of Taylors, SC’ Michael Davis and wife Lauren Bedsaul Davis, of Woburn, MA; Joshua Davis and wife Heather House Davis, of Cartersville, GA; Caleb Davis of Cartersville, GA; Brian Lackey, Brad Lackey and wife Kayla Lackey, and Scott Lackey, all of Wilmington, NC; Dale Griffin, Melissa Griffin Thomas and husband Kim “Bubba” Thomas, Jr., of Lake City, FL; Kimberly and Jennifer Lewis, of Pensacola, FL; Christopher Lewis, of Fruitland, FL; Amber Sutton, of Pensacola, FL; Amanda Jonathan, and Ashley Sutton, of Lehigh Acres, FL; two great grandchildren, Allayah Davis, of Cartersville, GA; and Haleigh Thomas, of lake City, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 2 p.m. from Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Strange, Rev. Robert Sutton, and the Rev. Dan Davis officiating.  Rev. Richard Helms conducted the graveside service.  Pallbearers were Ernest Rice, Ed Boley, Tom Scissom, Ed Reynolds, Bob Meridith, and Lewis Shuttle.  Honorary pallbearers were Larry Mandigo, and Norman Bachelor.  Interment was in Laurel Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

Ela pauline womack

 

Funeral services for Ela Pauline Womack, age 92, of Young Harris, GA, formerly of Tullahoma, TN were conducted Wednesday, December 1 at the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. Herbert Hester officiating.  Burial followed in the Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma.  Mrs. Womack died Sunday at Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA.

Mrs. Womack was born in Franklin County, NT, the daughter of the late Bill and Mary Donaldson Mason.  She was a sewing machine operator at Genesco for 28 years.  Mrs. Womack was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Tullahoma for 60 years.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Marion W. Womack, a daughter, Linda Pauline Gray, and one grandchild, Tommy Lee Daniel.  She is survived by two sons: Glen (Linda) Womack, Young Harris, GA, Kenneth (Sarah) Womack, Estill Springs, TN; one sister, Louise Weddington, Hixon, TN; seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.

In lieu of the flowers the family request donations be made to First Baptist Church in Tullahoma.

mabel silvey

 

            Mrs. Mabel Silvey, age 87, of Young Harris, GA passed away Monday, November 29, 2004, following a period of declining health.  Mrs. Silvey was born in Towns County, the daughter of the late Alex and Dell Ledford Gribble.  She was preceded in death by her husbands: Mr. Frank Lewis and Mr. Herman Silvey.  She was a member of the Old Union Baptist Church.

            Surviving are step-son, Mr. Tony Silvey and wife Deborah, of Fayetteville, TN; step-son Vic Silvey and wife Sue of Fayetteville, NC; four step-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews and many friends.

            Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at 2 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Jenkins and the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.  Interment was in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Wade Powell, Jimmy Powell, Benny Shook, Jeff Butt, Ricky Rich and Randy Cheek.  Music was provided by Dorothy and U.E. Sampson

            Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
