mrs. lillie mae nichols

 

Mrs. Lillie Mae Nichols, age 87, of Young Harris, GA passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2005 following an extended illness.  She was born to the late Herschel and Ella (Taylor) Wheeler on July 17, 1918 in Towns County, GA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Arnold Nichols in 1984.  She was a member of Old Union Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star.  She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Carol Nichols, of Young Harris, GA; sister, Ann Brock, of Robertstown, GA; nephew and wife, Jimmy (Bud) and Bennie Jo Nichols, of Blairsville, GA; great niece and husband, Jimmie Joe and Andy Gay, of Young Harris, GA; nephews, Leon Brock of Baldwin, GA and Emory Brock of Cleveland, GA.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Old Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Hogsed officiating.  Music was provided by Ulysses and Dorothy Sampson and Margaret Dendy.  Pallbearers were Gary Canup, Jerry Jenkins, Archie Chastain, Andy Gay, Leon Brock and Tamar Thompson.  Interment was in Old Union Baptist Church cemetery.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

mr. hubert vaughn garrett

 

Mr. Hubert Vaughn Garrett, age 91, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.

Mr. Garrett was born Monday, August 24, 1914 in Towns County, GA to the late Sam Garrett and Ellifare Wheeler Garrett.  He was a member of Mount Pleasant Church of God and was a welder and blacksmith.  He was preceded in death by wife, Blanche Lowe Garrett, son, Rondal Garrett, sister, Ruth Chambers.

Survivors include: daughters, Jeanette Walker of Dawsonville, GA and Reba Bradshaw of Hiawassee, GA; brother, Paul Garrett of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Geneva Anderson of Hiawassee, GA; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.   Music was provided by Mike Lane and Charles Matheson.  Interment was in Boyd’s Chapel Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Charles McClure, Sammy Bradshaw, Gary Bradshaw, David Garrett, Richard Garrett and Delton Holbrooks.

joyce verona eller galloway

 

Joyce Verona Eller Galloway, 66, of Warwoman Road, Clayton, GA, passed away peacefully December 6, 2005 at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born in Towns County, GA and was the daughter of the late Bennie Ray Eller and Rosa Mae McCloud Eller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Ester Eller Quilliams.

She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Ray Galloway, Jr., of the home; one son, Tony Galloway of Clayton, GA; one daughter, Kathy Carosella of Fredericksburg, VA; and four grandchildren.  She is also survived by three brothers, Clifton Eller of Clayton; Hansel Eller of Seneca, SC; Robert Eller of Clayton; and four sisters, Jessie Shirley of Tiger; Evelyn Conley of Clayton; Bessie Turpin of Tiger; and Helen Crunkleton of Rabun Gap.  Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At her request, she was cremated, and a memorial service was held in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 9, 2005 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Larry Cannon officiating.

Mrs. Dorothy Carolyn Ripley, age 93, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2005 at Brasstown Manor.  Mrs. Ripley was born Friday, September 17, 1912 in Cleveland, OH to the late Benjamin Perry and Mary Cornelia Broadman Perry.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Ripley.  Surviving family members include nieces: Kathleen Somers, Patricia A. Vujevich; and nephews, Edward Perry and William T.
