mr. warren ward remsen

 

Mr. Warren Ward Remsen, age 76, of Brasstown Creek Estates, Young Harris, passed away on December 5, 2004 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Remsen was born on July 15, 1928 in Floral Park, NY, the son of the late Warren Remsen and the late Hazel Keik Remsen.  He retired in 1973 from the New York Police Department where he was a police officer for several years.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the International Police Assoc., Retired Police Assoc., and Nassau Blue.  Mr. Remsen was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Mr. Remsen are his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Dian Kilgour Remsen of Young Harris, one daughter, Pam Fuoco of Port St. Luci, FL, two grandchildren, Nicolas Fuoco of Bel Port, NY, Kelly Schwegler of Boca Raton, FL, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services were held on Monday evening at 7 p.m. from the Mountain View Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Bone officiating.

raymond taylor jenkins

 

Raymond Taylor Jenkins, Major General, USAF Ret., age 96 of Hiawassee, GA formerly of Lehigh Acres, FL passed away Saturday, December 4, 2004 at his daughter’s home.

Mr. Jenkins was born July 5, 1908 in Kinston, NC, a son of the late John and Pennie Jenkins.  He was a WWII and Korean veteran.  Mr. Jenkins was a member of the Kiwanis, the Shriners Masonic Lodge in Ft. Myers, FL, and a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lehigh Acres, FL.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Jenkins on January 25, 1997.

Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Pennie Jenkins Harrison and George B. Harrison of Atlanta, GA, and Betty Jenkins Blair and Richard Blair of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Margaret Jenkins Guevarra of Kinston, NC; grandchildren, Taylor Harrison, Todd Harrison, and Tracy Harrison.

Interment will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.

mr. andrew john papson

 

Mr. Andrew John Papson, age 95, of Mr. Bert Rd., Hiawassee, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2004 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mr. Papson was born on July 28, 1909 in Boonton, NJ, the son of the late John Papson and the late Mary Tiika Papson.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet May Smith Papson.  He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and had attended Upper Hightower Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Papson are one son and daughter-in-law, Arnold and Barbara Papson of Orlando, FL, friends, Frances Aten, Sean Thomas, Linda Aten, Keith Thomas and Rodney Aten all of Hiawassee, John and Ellie Krol of Lake Mary, FL, one granddaughter, Nancy Vennell, two great grandchildren, Shayllnn and Thomas Vennell, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Humane Society in Mr. Papson’s memory.

    Billy Jackson “Bill” Bryson, 78, of Commerce, died Monday, December 13, 2004, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
    Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Freeman Bryson, Commerce; son, Andrew M. Bryson, Laramie, Wyo.; daughter and grandson, Lory B. Hemby and Tyler L. Hemby, both of Birmingham, Ala.
    Memorial services were held Wednesday, December 15, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home.
    Memorials may be made to Young Harris College, Young Harris, Georgia.
    Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
