lucy parsons fuller

Mrs. Lucy Parsons Fuller, age 86, of Young Harris, GA passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 following a period of declining health.  She was born to the late Cecil and Pauline parsons on March 21, 1921 in Paulding County, GA.

She is survived by a niece and nephew, and friends, Dr. and Mrs. Laneau Hayes of Young Harris, GA.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 17, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Dr. Rudy Patton officiating.  Serving as pallbearers were: Richard Kelley, Laneau Hayes, Otis Burdette, Allen Sosebee, Patrick Sosebee, and John Ray Parker.  Music was provided by patsy Daniels with accompaniment by Wayne Hundley.  Interment was in Woods Grove Cemetery.

gertrude brown carter

Mrs. Gertrude Brown Carter, age 95, of Hiawassee, formerly of Gainesville, GA, passed away Saturday, December 8, 207 at Chatuge Medical Center in Hiawassee.  A native of Hall County, Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Wallace Minor and Frances Conley Brown.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Hiawassee United Methodist church.  Before moving to Hiawassee, after the death of her husband Mr. H. Cecil Carter, Mrs. Carter was a member of the Gainesville First United Methodist Church.  She was very active in the women’s group there.  A graduate of Brenau College, Mrs. Carter enjoyed her hobbies of needlework and Bridge.  Her greatest loves were her husband and family.

Surviving Mrs. Carter are her sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Gloria carter of York, PA, Conley and Jane Carter of Hiawassee, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Wayne Buchanan of Hiawassee, GA; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Monday, December 10, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Alta Vista Cemetery with Rev. Jim Blair officiating.  The family received friends at the Mason & Ward Funeral Home from 11:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 10th.  In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Hiawassee United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. box 6069, Hiawassee, GA 30546.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at masaonandwardfunderalhome.com
