michael james haywood

 

Mr. Michael James Haywood, age 46, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006 at Chatuge Regional Hospital.

Mr. Haywood was born Saturday, April 2, 1960 in Bluefield, WV to the late Barbara Weatherby Browning.  He had lived most of his life in Hendersonville, NC and had resided in Hiawasse the past 5 years.  He was a member of upper Peachtree Baptist Church, Brasstown and Peachtree Volunteer Fire Departments.

Survivors include: wife, Sarah Haywood of Hiawassee, GA; step-daughters, Charlotte Dills of Moultrie, GA, and Patricia Prince of marble, NC; step-son, Scott Long of Peachtree, NC; sister, Monica Fancher of Palm Coast, FL; nephew, Christian Fancher of Palm Coast, FL; and six step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Hollifield officiating. Music was provided by Judy Woody.  Interment was in Old Fashion Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Bobby Barton, Dustin Lee, David Gunter, Tim Prince, Jim Carney and Joe Thorley.

buddy gary garrett

 

Mr. Buddy Gary Garrett, age 59, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2006.  Mr. Garrett was born Monday, December 30, 1946 in Towns County, GA to Clea Anderson Garrett, of Hiawassee and the late Kieffer Garrett.  He was of the Baptist faith, a Mason and a U.S. Veteran during the Veitnam War.  He was a cattle farmer, electrician and plumber.

Survivors, including his mother, include: sisters, Janice Cloer of Hayesville, NC and Jackie Garrett of Hiawassee, GA; nephew, Stanley Cloer, special companion, Linda Chastain of Hiawassee, GA; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Chastain, Brandon and Brittney Chastain; special cousin, Kathleen Burrell; several aunts, cousins and many  friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Denny Moss and Rev. Charles Shelton officiating.  Interment was in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.  Serving as pallbearers were: Dale Penland, David Penland, Jeff Penland, Dennis Penland, Dwight Penland and Gene Penland.  Honorary pallbearers included: Mitchell Chastain, Brandon Chastain and Cecil Maney.

amy hathoway lively

 

Miss Amy Hathoway Harris, age 89, of Hiawassee, GA passed away December 15, 2006 following a period of declining health.  Ms. Lively was born May 22, 1917 in Fulton County, GA, the daughter of Earl and Elanor Brown Lively.  Ms. Lively was a school teacher.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Ethelan Martin of Hiawassee, GA and a number of cousins.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 18, 2006 at 10 a.m. from the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Rudy Patton officiating.  Music was provided by the church.  Pallbearers were Jim Moltree, Al Harper, Paul Hixson, Frank Ware, Stephen Brown, and Douglas Talmage.  Interment ws in the Osborn Cemetery.
