Mr. James Randal Helton age 20, of Buford, GA., formerly of Hiawassee, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2003.  He was born on October 20, 1983 in Clayton County, GA.  He is survived by his parents, Mr. Clark Helton and Mrs. April Helton of Hiawassee, GA; one brother, Eugene Clark Helton of Hiawassee, Ga; one sister, Jennifer Robin Helton of Hiawassee, GA; grandparents, Mr. Hubert R. Helton and Delia Ruth Helton of Hapeville, GA; and one aunt, Alice R. Thurman, also of Hapeville, GA.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 2:00 pm at North Mt. Zion Church of God with the Rev. Rayburn Wilson, Rev. Rudy Patton and Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.  Interment was in the Enotah Cemetery.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee was in charge of arrangements.

mildred marylene dyer

 

Mrs. Mildred Marylene Dyer, age 80, of Young Harris, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2003 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mrs. Dyer was born on July 14, 1923 in Towns County, the daughter of the late Virgil Swanson and the late Correan Thomas Swanson.  She was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County and was a member of the Old Union Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, Roland Dyer in 1981, Mrs. Dyer is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Dean and Bonnie Dyer of Cleveland, GA.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Martha and Danny Dixon of Blairsville, Candace (Candy) and George Beck of Blairsville, Norma Dye and Jeffery Taylor of Alpharetta, GA., Billie Cobb of Young Harris, Special friend, Oaughtly Norwood of Young Harris; one brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Eldie Swanson of Young Harris; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Melvin Hunter of Young Harris; two sisters-in-law, Maver Swanson of Young Harris, Louise Dyer of Commerce, GA.; seven grandchildren,; two great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at 11:00 am from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.  Special music was presented by the Benny Shook Family.  The following gentlemen served as Pallbearers: Travis Lunsford, Chris Nix, Jonathon Dills, Jeff Beck, David Miller and David Dyer.  Serving as honorary Pallbearers were Frank Gunter, Fred Sims, Harley Hunter, Luther Thomas, Harvey Jackson, Eddie Alexander, Lester Sutton, Bobby Ellis and Ronnie Odom.  Interment followed in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.
