Evergreen Cemetery

City of Fitzgerald, Ben Hill County, Georgia
Submitted by Cam Jordan, Deputy Administrator
City of Fitzgerald, Georgia., All Rights Reserved
Formatted / presented by C. W. Barnum on May 14, 2017
Fitzgerald was founded as a Union soldiers’ colony in 1895-96. “Old Soldiers” is a reference to a section of Evergreen Cemetery.
The following chart contains the known veteran burials. "Post" refers to the GAR post they belonged to here (Grand Army of the Republic).
There was also a Blue and Gray Association here. The only instance we are aware of where a veterans’ organization served both Union and Confederate.
