On Dec 26th my mother, Kathleen
Kuykendall Pryor, passed through the gates of heaven to be with her
Lord and
Savior and the many loved ones that have gone before her.
Mama was born June 2, 1928 in
Blairsville, GA . She was the daughter of the late Curry G. Kuykendall
and
Jessie W. Poteete Kuykendall. Mama came to Gaston County in the late
40's and
lived in the same house for 42 years. She worked in textiles until 1974
when
she started at Gaston Memorial Hospital where she retired in June of
1991.
Mama was a devoted Christian
and was very active in church activities and helping people in need. I
moved Mama
to Kings Mountain in 1992. She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church,
Eastside
Baptist and in her final years joined me at First Baptist Church Kings
Mountain. Mama wants all of you to know "if I don't see you here, I
Will
see you in heaven".
The family received friends 6-8 p.m.
on Saturday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie
Whitesides Rd.,
Gastonia and other times at the home.
A funeral service was at 2
p.m. on Sunday at First Baptist Church, 605 West Kings St., Kings
Mountain. Interment was at St. Luke's
Lutheran Church
Cemetery, Kings Mountain.
Surviving Kathleen is her son
Samuel Caryslie Pryor, Jr. (Junior) and wife Debbie Pryor, 2 grandsons,
Jack
Kevin Moore and Robert Samuel Pryor; 4 great grandchildren;
sisters, Grace Flowers of York, SC, Wilma Froneberger of Dallas, NC;
brother
Tye Kuykendall of Ballground, GA; sister in-law, Shirley Carswell of
Hickory;
and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents and
husband Samuel Caryslie Pryor, Sr., an infant son, two brothers Claude
and
Duren Kuykendall and a sister Lovell Ownbey and one grandson Timothy
Allen
Moore.

Mr. Stanley Wayne
Richardson, age 70, of Kittle Road, Blairsville passed away Tuesday,
December
25, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. He was born
Feburary (sic)
4, 1942 in Winnsboro, SC to the late Lewis and Iva Lee Branham
Richardson.
Stanley was former Sheriff of Union County from 1993 – 1997, he served
as
deputy under Sheriff Tommy Duncan over 10 years and as a deputy in
Helen from
1997 to 2001. Stanley attended the House of Prayer Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Connie Richardson of Blairsville,
children,
Nannie and Steve Loner of Winnsboro, SC, Tawana & Wayne Aaron of
Blairsville, Tina & Johnny Wade of Blairsville, sister, Linda
Williams of
Winnsboro, SC, brother, Larry Richardson of Center, AL, sister-in-law,
Carol
and Albert Martin of Blairsville, seven grandchildren, Thomas Loner,
Tasha
Aaron and Cody Edwards, Jessica (Kenny) Hopkins, Kathy (Thomas) Younts,
Audri
(Virgil) Gibson, Devin Barnes and Bryan Aaron, great grandchildren,

Captain
Herbert
“Roscoe” Brinton, Jr., age 94, of Crumby Creek Terrace, Blairsville
passed away
Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Union General Hospital following a
brief
illness. He was born, July 24, 1918, in Falls Village, CT to the late
Herbert
Roscoe Brinton, Sr. and Julia Stevens Brinton. Mr. Brinton was a
retired
Airline Captain with Eastern Airlines. He had lived here since 1989 and
was a
member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Brinton is preceded in death by
his wife
Virginia, son, Herbert Roscoe Brinton, III, great grandson, Brett
Wagner.
Survivors include children, Wayne and Judy Brinton of Blairsville, Gary
Brinton
of Bradenton, FL, Llani Wood of Live Oak, FL, Evan and Tara Brinton of
Tuscon,
AZ and Holly Hazi of Sulfur, LA; fourteen grandchildren, Ted (Barry)
Brinton,
Debbie (Fred) Wagner, Tammy (Ike) Sanders, Jennifer (Jeff) Potts, Ray
Tibbs, Bo
Brinton, Lars Brinton, Steven Tibbs, Shannon Brinton, Jennifer (Bob)
Lee,
Crystal Wood, Jamarr Wood, Jonathan Wood and R’Llan Wood, fifteen great
grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at
Mountain
View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Cline officiating. Music was
by
Danita Kennedy. Interment was in Sarasota Memorial Gardens in Sarasota,
FL
beside his loving wife Virginia. The family received friends at the
funeral

Cody Dwayne Morgan, age
16, of Serena Road, Blairsville, passed away suddenly in Fannin County
on
Wednesday, December 26, 2012 as the result of an automobile accident
and walked
in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born May 2, 1996 in
Atlanta,
GA, and was a lifelong resident of Union County. Cody loved hunting,
fishing
and playing pool, and had a passion for riding horses. He was a member
of New
Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Joe and Myra Morgan of Blairsville, GA,
sister,
Kristen Morgan of Blairsville, brother, Buddy Morgan of Blairsville
paternal
grandparents, Rev. Wayne and Jewel Morgan of Blairsville, maternal
grandparents, Wilbur and Nancy Morgan of Fayetteville, GA, numerous
aunts,
uncles and cousins, and a host of friends.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Mountain
View
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Davenport and Minister Terry Stuart
officiating. Music was by Scott Lance. Pallbearers were Randy Jones,
Gary
Jones, Jonathan Bohannon, Pepper Ledbetter, Jesse White and John
Groves.
Interment followed in New Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family
received
friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.

Mrs. Ruby Lee Jones, age 83, of
Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at her home.
Mrs. Jones
was born Saturday, May 25, 1929 in Union County, GA to George and Emma
Payne
Sawyer. She was a lifelong resident of Union County and a member of
Liberty
Baptist Church. Ruby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was
devoted
to her family and always ready to help others in need. She enjoyed
working with
her flowers and garden and always kept her yard neat and trimmed. She
was
preceded in death by her husband Johnny Jones, her parents, a son,
Faron Jones,
brother, Frank Sawyer and sister, Pauline Wilson.
Ruby was dearly loved and will be
missed by all who knew her - but especially by her children, Deborah
Stephens
and her husband, Andy, of Blairsville and son, Randolph Jones, also of
Blairsville; a sister, Lucille Brackett of Blairsville, 5 grandchildren
and
their spouses: Andretti and Cassie Stephens, Angel and Curtis King,
Leigha
Jones and her fiance, Joe Fallis; John Casey Jones And (sic) Emily
Jones and Olivia
Noel Jones; and 3 great grandchildren, Taylor Mull, Tyree Mackey and
Reece
Jones. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on
Thursday, December 27th at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran
Funeral Home
of Blairsville with Minster Butch Jones and Rev. Terrell Jones
officiating.
Interment followed in the Liberty Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. The
family
received friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6 until 9
p.m. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Steve Wilson, Charles
Brackett,
Andretti Stephens, Casey Jones, Jamie Mull, Ranny Jones, Gary Jones and
William
Sisum.

Mr.
L.
C. Dillinger, age 83, of Blue Ridge Hwy, Blairsville passed away
Tuesday,
December 25, 2012 at Gilmer County Nursing Home following an extended
illness.
He was born in Union County on December 11, 1929 to the late Julius L
and
Martha Self Dillinger. L.C. was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He loved
fishing and camping, he also enjoyed music and dancing. L.C. was
employed with
Colwell Construction Company for over 20 years. He was preceded in
death by a
nephew, Tony Dillinger in 2007. L.C. was a member of Fairview Baptist
Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Dallas and Renay Dillinger of
Sparta, TN,
Bruce and Marie Dillinger of Blairsville, Junior and Debbie Dillinger
of
Morganton, GA, Barbara Towe of Ellijay, GA, Brenda and Ronald West of
Ellijay,

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at
Mountain
View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Jones and Rev. Kevin Chapman
officiating. Music was by the Dillinger Family, Chris Bergen, Sara Kate
Odom,
Mary Kate Chapman and Ivie Chapman. Pallbearers will be Chris Bergen,
Alvin
Towe, Shane Towe, Derick Dillinger, Boyd Weaver, Danny Deyton and Josh
Bergen.
Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Military Honors will be
provided
by the North Georgia Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers make memorial

Mr.
Hunter Von
Gillen, 55, of Blairsville, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December
15, 2012
at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta.
Mr.
Gillen was a
retired carpenter. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and
hunting. He
also enjoyed playing
guitar and the
companionship of his special canine friend, “Lexie”, whom he considered
to be a
member of the family. He had a strong faith in God and was a member of
Fairview
Baptist Church in Blairsville.
Survivors
include
his wife, Joanne Murray; parents, Larry and Bettye Gillen; siblings,
Larry
(Martha) Gillen, Becci Hughes, Victor Gillen and Anthony Gillen. A host
of
nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family also
survive. He
was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Daniel Gillen.
Memorial
service
will be held Saturday January 26, 2013 at 2 PM at Fairview Baptist
Church with
Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers make memorial

Eddie Cobb, 73, of Blairsville, GA, longtime resident of
Cobb County, died Monday, December 24, 2012. Funeral services
were held
at 2 PM, Friday, December 28th at Midway Presbyterian Church in
Marietta.
He lay in state at the church from 1 – 2 PM. Interment was at
Midway
Cemetery.
Eddie was born in Marietta, GA; he attended McEachern
High School and North Georgia College where he was voted “Most
Athletic”.
He received his masters from West Georgia College and his specialist
from
Georgia State. He was a commissioned officer in the U. S. Army
from
1961-1963 where he participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Eddie went on
to coach basketball and football at Wills and Campbell High Schools in
Smyrna
and retired as a principal in Cobb County after 32 years.
Eddie was married to his loving wife for 51 years. He was
a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and was an avid
Braves and
UGA fan. He left a wonderful legacy in the form of family, friends and
community.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Cobb of Blairsville;
son, Jeff (Kristi) Cobb of Canton; two daughters, Saundra DiPaola and
Suzanne
Cobb of Acworth; brother, Doug (Margaret) Cobb of Jonesboro;
grandchildren,
Audrey DiPaola, Anthony Cerasoli, Nicholas Cerasoli and Alayna
Cobb. Mr.
Cobb was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary Leeandrea Cobb.

Cobb’s memory to Smyrna First United Methodist Church, Kindergarten and
Preschool Division, 1315 Concord Road, Smyrna, GA 30080 or to
