Israel Isaiah Hood, age 4, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 at his home.

He was born Monday, August 20, 2001 in Hamilton County, NT.  He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandfather, James Emerson, maternal great grandparents Robert Lee and Lottie Pearl Harkins, and paternal grandmother, Robin Holder.

Survivors include: father, Joseph Wehunt of Blairsville, GA, mother, Barbara Hood of Blairsville, GA, sister, Madison Wehunt of Hiawassee, GA, paternal grandfather, Jeff Holder of Blairsville, GA, maternal grandparents, Gene and Azaline Harkins of Young Harris, GA, paternal great grandmother, Jean Holder of Blairsville, GA, maternal great grandparents, Reba and Roy Patterson of Blairsville, GA.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Davenport and Rev. Terry Sosebee officiating.  Music was provided by Kenneth and Elaine Young.  Interment followed in Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cherokee County, North Carolina.   Pallbearers were Eddie Harkins, Bobby Harkins, John Sullivan, Nathaniel Hooper, Michael Colwell and Rex Brown.

The family received friends Thursday and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you may make contributions to Cochran Funeral Home to help defray funeral costs.

mrs. constance glada konrady

 

Mrs. Constance Glada Konrady, age 83, of Track Rock Gap Rd., Blairsville, formerly of West Palm Beach, FL passed away on Friday, January 6, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mrs. Konrady was on August 8,  1922 in Fitchburg, MA, the daughter of the late Anton Efverman and the late Glada Smith Efverman.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charles Konrady Sr. in 1984 and by a son, John Howard Konrady in  1998.  She had retired from the Palm Beach County School Board and had volunteered with the American Heart Association for several years.  She had helped to print Braille Christian materials with the Lutheran Braille Workers.  Mrs. Konrady was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving Mrs. Konrady are one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Charles Konrady Jr. and Barbara Anderson of West Palm Beach, FL; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and David Heyer of Blairsville, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Virginia See, Harriet and George Bedick, one brother, Donald Efverman all of Fitchburg, MA, four grandchildren, Kacee, Chris, Richie and Dan, two great-grandchildren, Raven and Cheyenne; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 10 a.m. from the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of West Palm Beach with pastor David Arnold officiating.  Interment followed in the Woodlawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to The American Heart Assoc. of West Palm Beach, FL in Mrs. Konrady’s memory.

mr. milton alexander

 

Mr. Milton Alexander, age 64, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2006 at his residence.  Mr. Alexander was born Saturday, January 18, 1941 in Jackson County, GA to Florine Murray Alexander of Commerce, GA and the late Thomas Donald Alexander.  He was a member of Homer Presbyterian Church in Homer, GA.  Mr. Alexander had lived in the Blairsville area for the past 21 years, moving here from Commerce.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: wife, Margie Davenport Alexander, of Blairsville, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Shawn & Diedre Alexander of Cleveland, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Enid & Kenneth Smith of Lula, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Jon and Stormi Alexander of Clarkesville, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Joe & Cheryl Dyer of Blairsville, GA; sister, Donna Frances Beck of Athens, GA; sister & brother-in-law, Sarah & Hale Burden of Tucker, GA; 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 11 AM from the Ivy Log Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Karnes and Rev. Leon Henderson officiating.  Music was provided by The Faith Singers.  Interment followed in Ivy Log Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Mark Burden, Kerry Neal Burden, Harold Thompson, Billy Ray Hawks, Tommy Jackson, Johnny Brackett, Harold Tolbert and Eric Burden.  Honorary escort to the family included: Kyle White, Daniel Davenport and Bruce Gray.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Friday, January 6.

Mrs. June Dillard, age 88, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, January 2, 2006.  Mrs. Dillard was born Friday, June 22, 1917 in Union County, GA to the late Allen Pierce and the late Margaret Elizabeth Fortenberry Pierce.  A member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Colbert Dillard, and daughter, Opal Bridges.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Doris and E. J. Donaldson of Blairsville, GA; grandson and his wife, Ted & Peggy Donaldson, granddaughter and her husband, Debbie & Bobby Pierce, granddaughter and her husband, Jennifer & Todd LaGessie, great-granddaughters, Melissa Sosebee, Stephanie Le and Marina LaGessie and great-great grandsons, Chad Sisum and Ryley Sosebee.  Many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 6, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Chatham officiating.  Music was provided by The Faith Singers.  Interment followed in Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: jack Dillard, Joe Dillard, Lonnie Dillard, Danny Dillard, Royce Dillard and Bobby Pierce.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 7-9, Thursday, January 5.

mrs. pauline everett taylor

 

Mrs. Pauline Everett Taylor, age 90, of 190 Ward Mountain Road, Kingston, died Sunday morning December   18, 2005 at Beverly Forum Healthcare at Mount Berry.

She was born in Union County, January 15, 1915, daughter of the late William T. and Fannie Bell Shope Everett.  She was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church, Shannon.  She was preceded in death by her husband Henry G. Taylor on March 12, 1998.

Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Westbrook of Marietta,, Glenda Lawrence of Kingston and Elaine Cargle of Kingston; a sister, Mae Colston, of Birmingham, AL; two sisters-in-law, Marie Everett of Shannon and Nell Taylor of Marietta; six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted at pine Ridge memorial Park, Kennesaw, with the Rev. Hoyt Coker officiating.

mrs. allie mcginnis oxford

 

Mrs. Allie McGinnis Oxford, age 90, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Alpharetta, GA, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006.  Mrs. Oxford was born Wednesday, December 22, 1915 in Forsyth County, GA to the late John McGinnis and Lula Reid McGinnuis.  She was retired from Rich’s and was preceded in death by husband, Jonathan “Jack” Oxford.

Survivors include: daughter, Elaine Miller of Blairsville, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Mac B. and Beverly Oxford of Spartanburg, SC; grandson, Mac B. Oxford, Jr.; granddaughter and husband, Susan and Darrin Cothran; great-granddaughter, Bethany Oxford, great-grandsons, Lucas Oxford and Gabriel Cothran; sisters-in-law, Mary Ivy of Lilburn, GA and Dely McGinnis of Oklahoma City, OK.

Emily H. Thompson, 83, of Blairsville and formerly of Snellville, died January 4, 2006.  Mrs. Thompson retired from Sears after 25 years of service.  She was preceded in death by her husband, of 57 years, Henry Thompson and is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Charles Orr of Blairsville, Shirley and Stephen Christopher of Suwanee; grandchildren, Ryan Christopher, Matt Christopher, Allison Bowen; and 3 great grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by her family.  Those wishing to make contributions may do so the American Heart Association or the American Cancer society.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Patterson’s Arlington Chapel with Rev. Eddie Herring officiating.  Entombment followed at Arlington Memorial Park.
