Robert
David “Rod” Townsend, age 63, of Jonesboro, GA, died Thursday, January
8,
2009. He was born in Blairsville, GA, to
the late James Andrew and Elizabeth Stephens Townsend.
Mr.
Townsend is survived by his wife, Brenda Townsend, Jonesboro; daughter
Angie
(Tre’) Mock of McDonough; Kellie (Reeves) Mock, Sherrie (Wayne)
Everett, both
of Stockbridge; 7 grandchildren, Teyler, Hayden, Avery, Mallory, Mason,
Colton,
and Casen; brother, Tom Townsend, Cumming; sisters, Sarah Roberts,
Buford;
Betty Orr, Gainesville; Grapelle Thompson, Winder; Jeanette Vest,
Blairsville;
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held at 3 PM on Sunday, January 11,
2009 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor
Barry
Kirkwood officiating. Interment will
follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The
family received friends Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 4 until 7 PM at
the
funeral home. In lieu of flowers,

Mrs.
Millicent Arden West went to sleep in Jesus on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009
from her
home following an extended illness. Mrs.
West was born on Dec. 12, 1929 in Richmond, VA., the daughter of the
late
Herman Mitchell and the late Alice Livesay Mitchell.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister,
grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs.
West was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Murphy.
Surviving Mrs.
West are her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Elvin West of
Blairsville, one
son and daughter-in-law, John and Monica West of Milwaukee, WI., one
daughter,
Jill West of Blairsville, two sisters, Jean Cullum of Tallahassee, FL.,
patsy
Cashion of Richmond, VA., four grandchildren, Melissa and tiffany West,
Kenneth
and Jason McCraw, two great grandchildren, Andrea and Amanda McCraw,
several
nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at 1 PM from the Mountain
View
Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Don
Yancheson officiating. Special music was
presented by Rachel
Aldrich. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers, Herman, Robert and Donald West, Barry Braden, George
Green and
Jerry Anderson. Interment followed in the
Memory Hill Cemetery in Murphy. The
family met with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from
7-9 PM.

Terry
A. Lawrence was born in Pontiac, MI, on June 7, 1956, to Jerry G. and
Marian A.
Lawrence. He graduated from Rochester
Adams High School. His childhood
interests were Boy Scouts, hockey, football, and sailing.
He attended West Palm Beach Community College
and graduated from Florida Atlantic University as a geologist. He was President of Alliance Consulting and
Environmental Services, Inc. he held several degrees and certificates
throughout his
career, including an Associates in Arts; Associates in marine Biology,
and a
Masters in Geology. Terry enjoyed
everything in the outdoors. Most of his
life was spent outside, appreciating nature.
He is
survived by his wife, Michele; son, Andrew, a brother,
Thomas A., and his parents, Jerry and Marian.
The family
has requested memorial contributions be directed to Friends of the

Mrs.
Ruby Nell Abernathy age 76 of Hollow Hill Spur, Blairsville passed away
on
Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Abernathy was born on June 9, 1932 in
Union County, the daughter of the late Walter Deyton and the late Etta
Guffey
Deyton. She had retired from Liberty
Mutual Life Insurance Company with over fifteen years of service. After her retirement she loved to operate flea
markets. She was a loving mother,
grandmother and great grandmother. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Abernathy in 2003. Mrs. Abernathy was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs.
Abernathy are two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Johnny Collins
of
Dawsonville, GA., Patricia and Larry Nichols of Blairsville, two sons
and one
daughter-in-law, Ricky and Stephanie Abernathy of Cleveland, GA., Randy
Abernathy of Cleveland, three sisters, Juanita Keith of Blairsville,
Shirley
Davis of Savanna, GA., Rose Blair of savannah, one brother, Charles
Deyton of
Stockbridge, GA., eight grandchildren, Kayla and Kafus Abernathy, Gypsy
Howard,
Antilisha Adams, Shane Abernathy, Michael Etris, Kelly Downerd and
Matthew
Stover, eleven great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 at 2 PM from the Mountain
View Funeral
Home Chapel with the rev. Don Hood and Rev. Jonathon Hood officiating. Special music was presented by Hwy 76. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers,
Kafus Abernathy, Wesley Adams, Steven Adams, Jess Nichols, Michael
Etris and
Johnny Carroll. Serving as honorary
pallbearers were Austin Adams, Curtis Robinson, Devon Robinson, Carver
Nichols
and Brent Smith. Interment
followed in the Chattahoochee
United Methodist Church Cemetery where she will rest next to her
husband. The family met with friends at
the funeral
home on Saturday evening from 6-9 PM.

Mr.
Harry Anderson, age 65, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday,
January 10,
2009 at his home. Mr. Anderson was born
Wednesday, April 21, 1943 in Cherokee County, NC, to the late Wade and
Ethel
Ledford Anderson. He was a U.S. Air
Force Veteran and attended Ivy Log Baptist Church.
Harry loved life and traveling and spending
time and doing things with his grandchildren.
Survivors
include his wife of 43 years, Barbara Vernon Anderson; son and
daughter-in-law,
Stephen and April Anderson of Blairsville; brother, Johnny Anderson and
his
wife wife, Patsy; brother, Junior Anderson and his fiancé, Brenda
Dickey, all
of Murphy, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Madison, Hannah and Trent
Anderson and Adam Panther. Four nieces
and one nephew along with many friends and relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held at 11 AM Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from Ivy Log
Baptist
Church with Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Tony Black officiating. The family received friends at the Ivy Log
Baptist Church Monday evening from 6 until 9 PM. Interment
was in the Bellview Community
cemetery. Flowers will be accepted,
however, if you wish, you may make donations to the Bellview Community
