Mr. Otis Eugene Rich,
age 79 of Mauney Road, Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, January 5,
2013 in
the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Rich was born
on May
5, 1933 in Union County, the son of the late Garnett Rich and the late
Edith
Hughes Rich. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County.
Eugene was
a veteran of the US Army of the Korean and Vietnam Wars with over
twenty years
of military service. His favorite passions were farming and cattle. He
looked
forward going to the cattle sale. He was a loving husband, father,
brother,
grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by a son,
Justin
Larue Rich in 2010. Mr. Rich was a member of Bunker Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Rich are his loving wife of sixty years, Grapell Payne Rich of
Blairsville,
one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ernie Sistrunk of LaFayette, LA,
three
sons and two daughters-in-law, Tony Rich of Blairsville, Eddie and
Marie Rich
of Blairsville, Tim and Rebecca Rich of Blairsville, four sisters and
two
brothers-in-law, Exola Gates of Blairsville, Leola Lyons of
Blairsville, Sue
and Ronnie Caudell of Kennesaw, GA, Evaline and Frank Burkart of
Kennesaw,
eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, many other relatives
and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, January
9, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Jeff
Sistrunk
officiating. Special music was presented the Kelly Trio. The following
gentleman served as pallbearers, Phillip Tharp, Eddie, James, Brad and
Cary
Rich, Steven Hardin, Steve Worley, David Franklin and Gary Thomas.
Interment
followed in the Meadow View Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by
the
North Georgia Honor Guard. The family met with friends at the funeral
home on
Tuesday evening anytime after 6 p.m.

Lewis William Haygood, age 83, of
Suches, GA, passed away Friday, January 11,
2013.
Lewis had
moved from Jonesboro to his home in Suches in 1992. He was retired from
the
Ford Motor Company where he worked in the auto body department. He was
a Master
Mason, and had served honorably in 4 military branches including the
Army, the
U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Lewis was a
very kind
and loving husband to his wife, Rosa, for 26 years, and was a very
devoted
father and grandfather.
Mr. Haygood was the son of the late
Tom and Neatie Simmons Haygood, and was also preceded in death by his
former
wife, Geneva Haygood, and an infant brother.
He is
survived by his wife, Rosa Stover Haygood; daughter and son-in-law,
JoAnne and
Larry Clark, McDonough, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Kay
Haygood,
Ellenwood, GA, Michael Fitzpatrick, Detroit, MI, Steve and Kara
Fitzpatrick,
Lowell, IN; and daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Ken Potter,
Jackson, MI.
10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and
numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Lewis were
scheduled for 11 AM Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Banister Funeral
Home
Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.
Pastor Clarence
Drummond and Pastor Mike Anderson officiated.
Interment followed at Sherwood
Memorial Park in Jonesboro, GA.
The family
received friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 4 PM until
6 PM on
Sunday, January 13, and 9 AM until 11 AM on Monday, January 14.

Mrs. Lillian Cordilla
McClure, age 93, of Gum Log Road, Blairsville, passed away Wednesday,
January
9, 2013 at Union General Hospital following a brief illness. She was
born
January 5, 1920 in Union County to the late Jim and Gracie Rogers
Miller, and
had lived in Woodstock, GA for several years before moving back to
Union
County. She attended Ebenezer Baptist Church. Mrs. McClure was
preceded
in death by her husband, William Glawfus McClure in 1988.
Survivors include her children, Jean McKenzy of Blairsville, Maxine and
Mike
Gant of Blairsville, William Ray McClure of Blairsville and Clara Jo
Mote of
Kennesaw, GA, nine grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2012
(sic) at
Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery with Preacher Ray Potts officiating.
