Mrs. Mary
Edna Staley, age 68, of
Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of Miami, Florida, passed away Saturday,
January
7, 1995 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville. Mrs.
Staley was a native and longtime
resident of Dade County before moving to the North Georgia Mountains in
1978. She was a 1944 graduate of Miami
Addison High School. Mrs. Staley was a
secretary for many years with the Law Firm, Copin and Watkins in Miami. For the past twelve years, Mrs. Staley worked
as secretary for attorney Robbie Colwell in Blairsville.
Surviving are her husband, Mr.
Everett Staley of the home and one daughter, Ms. Cynthia Ann Staley of
Gainesville, Georgia. Nieces, nephews,
and friends also survive.
Memorial services were held Tuesday,
January 10, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home
with
Rev. Jan Devereaux officiating. In lieu
of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to
the Mary
E. Staley memorial Fund, c/o Union County mental Health, 55 Hughes St.,
Suite
B, Blairsville, GA 30512.

Miss
Willa Mae Mashburn, age 62, of Union
County, Georgia, passed away Sunday, January 8, 1995 in St. Joseph’s
Hospital
in Atlanta, Georgia.
Miss Mashburn was born on January
24, 1932 in Union County, and was a lifelong resident of this area. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist
Church. Miss Mashburn was preceded in
death by her father, John Bart Mashburn, who died in 1994; her mother,
Callie
Henderson Mashburn, who died in 1975; and his sister, Mary Lee Martin,
who died
in 1989.
Survivors include a sister, Miss
Ella Faye Mashburn, of Blairsville, and numerous cousins and other
relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
January 10, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. from Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev.
Guy Wayne
Shook and Rev. R.L. Martin officiating. Special
music was presented by the Faith Singers.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Richard Mashburn,
Robert
Mashburn, Edward Mashburn, Lake Stroud, Lee Knight, Chuck Gillespie,
and Junior
Mashburn. Interment was in Ebenezer
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Rev.
George W. Daniel, age 80, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 1995 in Union
General
Hospital in Blairsville.
Rev. Daniel was born in Towns
County, Georgia, on September 12, 1914, a son of Henry and Rebecca
Plott
Daniel. He was a Veteran of the U.S.
Navy and served during World War II.
Rev. Daniel had lived in this area for most of his life and was
the
Pastor of numerous churches for sixty years.
He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frankie
Martin Daniel, of the home; two sons: Wayne Daniel of Ducktown,
Tennessee, and
Joseph Daniel, of Blairsville; four daughters: June McCloud, of
Atlanta,
Georgia; Gwen Garrett, Alice Seabolt and Gloria Corbin, all of
Blairsville;
eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday,
January 12, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Funeral Home with
Rev.
Junior Bryson, Rev. Cecil Williams, and Rev. W.M. Coe officiating. Specially selected music was presented by
Kenneth and Elaine Young. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Doug Hughes, Kenneth White, Charles
Hughes,
Dana Bridges, Bobby Bridges, and Mike Vaughn.
Interment was in Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery, with
Military Honors
by members of the North Georgia Honor Guard.
