Mrs.
Mary Lou Ashton, age 75, of Conley, GA, passed away on Wednesday,
January 14,
2009 at her home following an extended illness.
She was born in the Choestoe district of Union County, GA, on
April 23,
1933, the daughter of the late Vaughan C. Saxon and the late Bessie
Ruth
Saxon. She was preceded in death by her
husband of 55 years, James M. Ashton, Jr., age 81.
He died on October 17, 2008 and his remains
were cremated.
Funeral
services for both were held on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at 3 p.m. from
the
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Garvin officiating.
Interment followed at the Pine Top Baptist
Church Cemetery. Surviving are two
children, James Ashton and alias McCullough of Conley, GA, also Mrs.
Ashton’s
brother Bobby Saxon of Gainesville, GA, Mr. Ashton’s brother
Frank Ashton of Eureka, MO, and his sister Barbara Callara of Brandon,
FL. Also two
grandchildren,
Marcus Reinshagen and Nicholas McCullough of Conley, GA.
The family
met with friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-3 p.m.

Mr.
William J. Gould, Sr., age 73, of Skeenah Highlands Rd., Blairsville
and
formerly of Hayesville and also Coco Beach, FL, passed away on
Wednesday, Jan.
14, 2009 in the Union General Hospital in Blairsville following a brief
illness. Mr. Gould was born on March 30,
1934 in Coco, FL, the son of the late Carl Gould and the late Beulah
Stradley
Gould. He was a veteran of the US coast
Guard. William’s main hobby was
football. A few of his passions were
eating shrimp, ballroom dancing and square dancing.
He became a professional painter and had been
employed with the Kennedy Space Center for several years.
When living in Coco Beach, FL, he taught
school for thirteen years and had also coached high school football. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Alan
Gould in 2004 and a sister, Denise McNeal.
Mr. Gould was a member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr.
Gould are his loving wife of eight years, Betty Gould of Blairsville,
three
children, William J. Gould, Jr., and wife Linda of Rockford, IL,
Matthew Alan
Gould and friend Debbie Munsey of Hayesville, Judy and Gene Bacon,
serving in
Guinea, West Africa, one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Grady
Bohannon of
Andrews, step children, James (and friend Vickie) Schuknecht of
Blairsville
David and Judy Schuknecht of Orewell, OH, Becky and Roger Bullard of
Andover,
OH, Stephen and Kelly Schuknecht of Blairsville, Susan and William
Donaldson of
Farmington, OH, three grandchildren, Matthew Alan and Mark Marvin,
Brent Alan
Bacon, fifteen step grandchildren, twenty step great grandchildren,
many other
relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial
services were held on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at 3 p.m. from the Liberty
Hill
Methodist Church with the rev. Geri Worley officiating.
Special music was presented by Dan
Worley. In lieu of flowers if you wish,
the family requests that memorials may e made to Liberty Hill Methodist
Church
Cemetery fund in memory of Mr. Gould.

Mrs.
Marsha King, age 53, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Wednesday, January
14,
2009 at her residence. Marsha was born
Thursday, December 1, 1955 in Towns County, GA to the late Ray Stepp
and the
late Martha Plott Stepp Schroeter. She
was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a
sister,
Linda Stepp.
Surviving
family members include her husband, Vaughn King of Blairsville; son
&
daughter-in-law, Jamie and Amanda King; daughter & son-in-law,
Tanya and
Waylon Gibby, all of Blairsville; brothers, Keith Stepp of Murphy, NC,
and
William Stepp of Hendersonville, NC; sister, Joann Stepp of Dahlonega,
GA;
grandson, Ethan King; granddaughter, Kaitlyn King; grandson, Kord
Gibby;
several nieces and nephews also survive, along with many friends.
Funeral
services were held Friday, January 16, 2009 at 2 PM from the Cochran
Funeral
Home with Rev. Michael Calder and Rev. Chris Rumfelt officiating. Music was provided by Summer Calder. Interment followed in Antioch Baptist Church
Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were the
following gentlemen: Roger Garrett, Ronnie Garrett, Johnny Garrett,
Trance
King, Terry King, Marty King and Nathanael Stepp.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 6-9 PM, Thursday, January 15.
