mrs. pearl b. felter

 

            Mrs. Pearl B. Felter, age 101, of Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away Monday, January 8, 1996 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mrs. Felter was born June 2, 1894, in Monmuth County, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Gilbert Valleaux and Rosella Fleming Valleaux.  She had been living in Blairsville since May of 1993.  Mrs. Felter was the widow of the late Raymond Felter, who passed away in 1940.  She was of the Baptist faith. 

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. June Eckert, of Blairsville; grandson, James R. Eckert, of Morrisville, North Carolina, and granddaughter, Patricia M. Hill, of Charlotte, North Carolina; great grandson, James M. Hill, III, and granddaughter, Charlotte A. Hill, both of Charlotte, North Carolina.

            Funeral services were held Monday, January 15, 1996 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Ross Bair officiating. 

            Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of arrangements.

mrs. sara ann clark

 

            Mrs. Sara Ann Clark, age 69, of 11995 Montana Dr., Suches, Georgia died Friday, January 19, 1996, at the Union General Hospital, in Blairsville, Georgia following a brief illness.

A Paulding County native and former resident of Atlanta, Mrs. Clark had lived in Suches since June of 1995.  Mrs. Clark was retired as a Nursing Assistant, after 21 years, from Dekalb General Hospital in Decatur, Georgia, and was a member of the St. Claire Baptist church in Atlanta. 

            Survivors include, one daughter, Mrs. Jeannette Suzanne Alexander, of Atlanta, Georgia; three sons, Mr. Ervin Horace Clark, of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Anthony Hulen Clark, of Gainesville, Georgia; and Mr. Thomas Carr Clark, of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Mr. Roy Bonds, of Morganton, Georgia; grandchildren, Jonathan Clark, of Decatur, Georgia; Scott Clark, of S.D.; nieces, Vola Mae Bailey, of Marietta, Georgia; Mary Bonds, of Hiawassee, Georgia; nephews, Ralph Gerald Bailey, of Atlanta, Georgia; James Bailey, Collin Bailey, and Howard Bailey, all of Marietta, Georgia, and Walter Swanson, of Decatur, Georgia.

            Funeral services were held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 1996, from the McKinney Funeral Home Chapel.  The Rev. Edwin Wix officiated. 

            In lieu of flowers, those desiring to do so, may make contributions to the Suches Volunteer Fire Department, Hwy. 60, Suches, Georgia 30572. 

            McKinney Funeral Home of Dahlonega, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.

mrs. myrtle rosetta vause caldwell

 

            Mrs. Myrtle Rosetta Vause Caldwell, age 96, of Stonehenge Elder Care in Blairsville, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 14, 1996.

Mrs. Caldwell was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on July 8, 1899, a daughter of the late Thomas Vause and Susan Jane Ackland Vause.  She was a homemaker and had lived in the Blairsville area since 1988. 

            Mrs. Caldwell was a member of the Sebastian, Florida United Methodist church, and she was an avid Bingo player.

Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Jordan, of Blairsville; son, Robert M. Caldwell, of Ireland; and daughter, Lois Hartenstein, of Pittsburgh; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive.  Mrs. Caldwell had been preceded in death by her husband, the late Robert M. Caldwell, who passed away in 1968; a daughter, Vivian R. Caldwell; and two sons.

j. dan travis, sr.

 

            Mr. J. Dan Travis, age 79, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away December 21, 1995, at his home.

Mr.  Travis was born in Atlanta on June 12, 1916, one of three sons of Calvin E. Travis and Monteen Marks Travis.  Before moving to Blairsville in 1988, Mr. Travis lived in Fr. (sic) Myers, Florida for fifty years. 

            Survivors include his wife, Marguerite C. Travis, of Blairsville; two sons, three step-children, seven grandchildren and one brother, all living out of state.

            Final arrangements were handled by Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home in Calhoun, Georgia, representing the National Cremation Society.
