Ira
Eugene Gibson went home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 7,
2010.
Eugene
was born in Union County, GA on July 19, 1939 to the
late Robert Holland Gibson and the late Frankie Mae Fortenberry. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacy
of Cleveland County, NC and a sister, Frances Cook of Blairsville, GA.
Survivors
are a son, Waylon Gibson and a daughter Holly,
both of Cleveland County, NC; several grandchildren and several nieces
and
nephews; a sister, Elaine Alexander and a brother Jerry Gibson of
Hendersonville, TN.
Eugene
was a good, gentle, Christian man who really loved
the Lord. He will be greatly missed.
Graveside
services were held at House of Prayer Baptist Church Cemetery on
Sunday,
January 10, 2010.

Bernadine
J. Saul, 76 of Clarksville, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at Skyline
Medical
Center, Nashville, TN. The funeral was
held at 12 noon Thursday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with
Pastor
Matthew Brown officiating. Burial was in
Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville.
She was
born May 20, 1933 in Tellico Plains, TN, then
the family moved to Blairsville, GA when she was a
child. She graduated from Union County
High School. She was preceded in death
by her parents, Roy E. Mason and Nellie Patterson Mason from
Blairsville;
sister, Janna Ruth Plott; and her husband, SCM (Ret.) Hans Saul.
Mrs. Saul
was homemaker (sic) and attended Beautiful Savior
Lutheran Church. Survivors include her
son, Steven Saul, Las Vegas; daughter Lori McPherson, Clarksville;
brothers,
Dwight Mason, Harold Dwayne Mason and Blake Mason, all of Georgia;
sister,
Charlsie Carney of Georgia; and grandchildren, Brent Saul, Seth Saul,
and
Lauren McPherson. Memorials may be made
to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 276 Warfield Blvd., Clarksville, TN 37043.

Mr.
Marvin
Grizzle, age 58, of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away Monday, December
21, 2009
at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Mr.
Grizzle was born in Union County, Georgia, to the late
Grady and Lizzie Garrett Grizzle. He was
also preceded in death by his wife, Angela Ellis Grizzle; brothers,
Calvin
Grizzle, John Robert Grizzle, and a sister, Sharron Grizzle. Mr. Grizzle was a farmer and a member of
Corinth Baptist Church.
Survivors
include his sons: John Owen and Marty Grizzle,
both of Cleveland; sisters: Bertha Chambers, of Murrayville; Betty Ruth
Grizzle, Lois Grizzle and Janell Grizzle, all of Suches; Wanda
Gilstrap,
Cleveland; brothers: Joe Grizzle, Dahlonega; Charles Grizzle and Tony
Grizzle,
both of Suches; Ralph Grizzle, David Grizzle and Clyde Grizzle, all of
Cleveland; Donald Grizzle, of Hiawassee; father and mother-in-law,
Russell and
Bernice Ellis, Cleveland, and several nieces, nephews, and other
relatives.
Funeral
services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009, from the chapel
of
Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Waymon
Lovell and Rev. Craig Summitt officiated.
Interment was in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Maggie
Roberts Carver Parker was born May 17, 1921, Robbinsville, NC. Her parents were Worth and Molly Roberts of
Blairsville, Ga. She was a Graduate of Young LG HRRIS College, Emory
University. She had a
masters in Education and Child development from Ga. State
University. She taught school in Fulton
County for 37 years at Longino Elementary and in Union County for 4
years. She lived in Atlanta for 37 years,
and moved
to Helen, Ga. in 1990. She was a member
of First Baptist Church of Helen.
She is
survived by one daughter, Phyllis Carver Shipes of
Cumming, Ga. and one son, Charles Robert Carver of Fayetteville, Ga. Five grandchildren, Jimmy Hopkins of
Woodstock, Ga., Todd Hopkins of Tampa, FL., Bronwynn Weaver of Acworth,
Ga.,
Carri Carver Wallace of Atlanta, Ga., and Beth Carver.
She also had 6 great-grandchildren. She
is also survived by two sisters, Jane
Boss of Helen, Ga. and Amanda Buchanan of Valdez, NC.
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She is
preceded in death by husbands, William Boyd Carver,
Sr. and William Boyd Parker. Also one son, William Boyd Carver, Jr.
Graveside
services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the
Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Truelove officiating. Donations can be made in her honor to the
First Baptist Church of Helen, American Cancer Society or Heart
foundation.

Mr.
Edward
Ray Wiley, age 68, of Voyles Town Rd., Blairsville, passed away on
Friday, Jan.
22, 2010 following an extended illness. Mr.
Wiley was born on March 16, 1941 in Ellenville, NY, the son of the late
John
and Rachel Wiley. Edward was a Life
Scout. He graduated from Fallsburg
Central High School in 1948 and graduated from Franklin Pierce College
in New
Hampshire with a degree in economics. He
served four years in the United States Air Force. He
worked with Honeywell Inc. for several
years. Edward joined a research group
called Haskins Laboratory at Yale University where he designed special
purpose
machines in the study of artificial speech.
He retired from the laboratory when he was fifty-four. While living in Connecticut he was a member
of the Litchfield, CT Fire Company and an EMT in the Lithfield (sic) CT
Volunteer Ambulance Corp for 25 years. He
was a member of the Litchfield United Methodist Church serving on many
committees over a 25 year period. He
moved to Blairsville in 1995 and became a member of the Blairsville
Fire
Company station #4. Edward was a member
of the Blairsville First United Methodist church where he served on the
Finance
Committee.
Surviving Mr.
Wiley are his loving wife of forty-nine years, Kathleen Wiley of
Blairsville,
two sons, John Wiley of Blairsville, Christopher Wiley of Torrington,
CT,
granddaughter, Olivia Wiley of Milwaukie, OR, sister, Jean Wright of
Parrish,
FL, brother, William Wiley of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews,
many other
relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the First
United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Lewis officiating.
Special music was presented by Jeff Bauman
and Keith DeFoor. In lieu of flowers, if
you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Ronnie
Green
heart Center of the Northeast Ga. Medical Center in Gainesville in
memory of
Mr. Wiley.

James
Odell Stewart, 79 of Norcross, went home to be with the Lord on January
18,
2010.
He was
born January 10, 1931 in Blairsville, GA, the only
child of Joel Harvey and Lesta Freeman Stewart.
He was a retiree of Complete Auto Transit and a current employee
of
Publix. He was an army veteran that
served with the 18th Infantry with a specialty in firearms and hand
weapons and
a recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal.
He is
survived by his wife, Sandra Adams Stewart; son and daughter-in-law
Steven and
Shirley Stewart of Norcross; grandchildren Amanda Stewart; her mother
Shannon
Byers, Jairamy and Whittney Dorsey, Briston Mount and many other family
members
and friends.
A funeral
service was held 11 a.m. Friday, January 22 at
Bill Head Funeral Home Duluth Chapel.
Interment was at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in
Blairsville, GA.
