helen elaine thom

 

Mrs. Helen Elaine Thom, age 81, of Wesley Mountain Drive, Blairsville, GA., passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 in The Life Care Center of Copperbasin, following an extended illness.  Mrs. Thom was born on January 28, 1922 in Ambridge, PA., the daughter of the late William Stuban and the late Catherine Gudzan Stuban.  She lived in Blue Ridge for twelve years before moving to Blairsville three years ago.  She was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, Norwood Herrington Chapter #356.  Mrs. Thom attended Coosa United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Thom are her loving husband of fifty eight years, William (Bill) Thom of Blairsville; one sister, Catherine Loprich of Ambridge, PA; several nieces, nephews; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at 2:00 pm from the Matter-Tatalovich Funeral Home Chapel in Ambridge, PA., with the Rev Bertram Domineck officiating.  Interment followed in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Rochester, PA.  The family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Thom’s memory.

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the local arrangements.

mrs. patsy leona yarborough

 

Mrs. Patsy Leona Yarborough age 62 of Queens Gap Connector Blairsville, GA passed away on Friday January 23, 2004 in the Emory Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Yarborough was born on August 21, 1941 in Bennettsville, SC., the daughter of the late Roland Prevatte and the late Leona Pratt Prevatte.  Mrs. Yarborough was a member of The House of Prayer.

Surviving Mrs. Yarborough are her loving husband of twenty seven years, Robbie Yarborough of Blairsville, one daughter, Barbara Hyatt of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, David and Ernestine Hyatt of Charleston, SC., one sister, Cindy Owenby of Columbia, SC., one brother Eddie Prevatte of San Diego, CA., many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday January 25, 2004 at 11:00AM from The House Of Prayer Church with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner, Rev. Bill Schakat, Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Eric Haselden officiating.  Special music was presented by The House Of Prayer church choir.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Cleo Lee, Pleas Owenby, Junior Pratt, Ben Langston, Dan Davis, Benny Erwin and Travis Kelley.  The following gentlemen served as honorary pallbearers, Bill Pratt and Billy Zeger.  Interment followed in the Providence Methodist Cemetery.

edith ppauline stanley

 

Mrs. Edith Pauline Stanley, age 89 of Blairsville, formerly of College Park, GA., passed away on Monday, January 19, 2004 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Stanley was born on October 21, 1914 in Nashville, TN., the daughter of the late Carl Ellis Stanley and the late Anna Bell Rothenberg Stanley.  She was employed as a bookkeeper for the longest part of her life.  Mrs. Stanley was a member of the Red Oak Methodist Church in College Park.

Surviving Mrs. Stanley are one brother, Lewis Stanley of Nashville, TN; a lifelong friend and care giver, Eunice Routon of Blairsville; many other relatives and friends also survive.

No memorial services are planned at this time.  The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Foundation in Mrs. Stanley’s memory.
