Mrs.
Bettie
Pickelsimer Davis, age 79, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Wednesday,
January
21, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Davis was
born Sunday, December 22, 1929 in Fannin County, GA, to the late John
Andrew
Pickelsimer and the late Fannie Warren Pickelsimer.
She was a member of Coopers Creek Baptist
Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Davis.
Surviving
family members include: son & daughter-in-law, James and Wanda
Davis of
Blairsville; daughter & son-in-law, DeLois and Larry Fisher of
Morganton,
GA; daughter & son-in-law, Debra and Marshall Jones of Dahlonega,
GA;
daughter, Dale Smallwood of Commerce, GA; daughter, Gail Lopez of
Dahlonega;
daughter & son-in-law, Brenda and Howard Christy of Dahlonega; son
&
daughter-in-law, Jesse and Sharon Davis of Blue Ridge; daughter &
son-in-law, Ann and Willis Smallwood of Ellijay, GA’ brothers, Estiel
Pickelsimer, Earl Pickelsimer, and Arlin Pickelsimer, all of
Blairsville; 22
grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and
other
relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, January 25, 2008 at 3 PM from Cochran
Funeral Home –
Blairsville Chapel, with Rev. Joey Fortner, and Rev. Earl Pickelsimer
at officiating. Music was provided by L.D.
Buchanan and
Heaven Bound. Interment followed in
Coopers
Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving
as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Kevin Gilreath, James
Gilreath,
Jr., Ricky Heath, Darrel Cevallos, Devon Ledford, Michael Smallwood.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m., Friday, January 23 and 6-9 p.m.
Saturday January 24.

Mrs.
Charlotte
Anita Eckenrode, 73, of Blairsville, GA, died early Sunday at Union
General
Hospital. She was born in Manor, GA, to
the late W.D. Carmichael and Myrtie Howard Carmichael.
She had spent a majority of her life in
Waycross before moving to Blairsville in 1994.
She was a charter member of Crawford street
Baptist Church in Waycross, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church
in
Blairsville. Mrs. Eckenrode was the
first female manager of Beneficial Finance in Charleston, SC. Along with her parents she was preceded in
death by a son, Richard Draffin.
Mrs.
Eckenrode is survived by her husband, Donald William
Eckenrode of Blairsville, GA, a daughter, Carla Denise green and her
husband Ty
of Charleston, SC, two sisters, Marion C. Hall of Atlanta, GA, Nina
Walker and
her husband Wesley of Blackshear, GA, five grandchildren, Mercedes
Castaneda of
Lawrenceville, GA, Rick Draffin and his wife Angel of Lake Park, GA,
Dodge
Draffin of Southern Shores, NC, Jacob Green of Charleston, SC, Bandon
Green of
Charleston, SC, eight great grandchildren, Zoe Castaneda, Ethan
Castaneda,
Kendall Castaneda,, Courtney Castaneda, Emma Castaneda all of
Lawrenceville,
GA, Gage Coleman of Naylor, GA, Trinity Draffin, Rick Draffin of L
Lake
Park, GA, and numerous nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
A funeral
service held 10 a.m., Wednesday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday evening
from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
