mr. richard santiago gonzales

 

Mr. Richard Santiago Gonzales, age 76 of Robert Hull Lane, Blairsville passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2004 in the Piedmont Hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Gonzales was born on February 12, 1927 in Tampa, FL the son of the late Manuel Gonzales and the late Antonia Garcia Gonzales.  He was a veteran of the US Navy if WWII.  He was a self-employed contractor before his retirement.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former Lions Club member.  Mr. Gonzales was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Surviving Mr. Gonzales are his loving wife of fifty seven years, Dorothy Kruse Gonzales of Blairsville; two daughters and son-in-laws, Karen and Roger Davis of Knoxville, TN and Virginia and Father Daniel Jones of Delta, CO; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard S. Jr. and Linda Gonzales of Stuart, FL; one sister, Carmen Holton of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Church with Father Richard Wise officiating.  Special music was presented by Bob and Jean Hiler.  Serving as pallbearers were the Knights of Columbus.  Interment followed on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from St. Clare’s Columnbarium.

mrs. mary olean burnett

 

Mrs. Mary Olean Burnett, age 63 of 10123 Wolf Pen Gap Road, Suches, GA died Thursday, January 29, 2004, at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Burnett was a native of Fannin County and had lived most of her life in Union county.  She was a homemaker and member of Zion Baptist Church in Suches.  She was preceded in death by her father, Odes Ray Dixon.

She is survived by her husband, John C. Burnett Jr. of Suches; daughter and son-in-law, Malinda and Jerry Davis of Suches; sons and daughter-in-laws, John and Adean Burnett of Dahlonega, GA; Julian and Katie Burnett of Dahlonega, GA; mother, Mrs. Mae Dixon of Blairsville; sisters and brother-in-laws, Faye and Junior Duckworth of Blairsville; Jean and J.D. Crump of Griffin, GA; two grandchildren, Julianne Burnett and Presslie Burnett and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 31, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Zion Baptist Church in Suches with Rev. Michael Wilkes and Rev. Chris Gilbert  officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.
