Minnie
B. beaver, age 75, of Ravenna, OH, died Monday, January 25, 2010. She was born October 25, 1934 in Blairsville,
GA, to the late Henry and Bertha (Weaver) Beaver. A Portage County, OH, resident since 1976,
she retired as an Inspector for I.E.R. Industries.
Survivors
include her daughters Debra (Mark) Yager of
Ravenna, OH and Erma (Mike) Hupp of Broadview Hgts., OH, 5
grandchildren, 9
great grandchildren, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, 3 brothers and her fiancée Lee Parker.
Graveside services
were held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Maple Grove Cemetery in
Ravenna. In lieu of flowers, memorials
should be made to the Portage County APL, PO Box 927, Ravenna, OH 44266.
Arrangements
are being handled by Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.

Mr.
William
(E.J.) Collins age 82 of Blairsville passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30,
2010 in
the St. Josephs Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness. E.J. was born on July 19, 1927 in Union
County to the late Arthur Collins and the late Naomi Collins. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union
County. He farmed and made sorghum syrup
for over 40 years. He was a member of
Old Liberty Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death by an infant son, John Lee Collins.
Surviving
Mr. Collins are his loving wife of sixty years, Lucille King Collins of
Blairsville, daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jerry Guyton, son and
daughter-in-law, Don and Marie Collins, daughter, Nancy Hooker, son and
daughter-in-law, Harold and Janie Collins, son and daughter-in-law,
Freddie and
Julie Collins, son and daughter-in-law, Toby and Angie Collins, son,
Jason
Collins, sisters Lois Plott and Lavada Burkhalter, brothers and
sisters-in-laws, Farris and Ruby Collins and Garnett and Charlotte
Collins,
seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many other relatives and
friends
also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at 3 p.m. from the Old
Liberty
Baptist Church with the Rev. Claude Thomas and Rev. Harley Hunter
officiating. Special music was presented
by the Old
Liberty Baptist Church and the TrackRock (sic) Baptist Church Choirs. The body lay in state at the church from
2:30-3 p.m. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers, Calvin Collins, Shane Guyton, Aubrey Dyer,
Julius
Collins, Jimmy Spiva and Ray Seabolt. Interment
followed in the church cemetery with the North GA. Honor Guard
conducting
military honors. The family met with
friends
at the funeral home on Sunday evening after 6 p.m.

Mr.
Horace
Norman Bachelor age 82 of Coyote Ridge, Blairsville passed away on
Thursday,
Jan. 28, 2010 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended
illness. Mr. Bachelor was born on Jan. 7,
1928 in
Atlanta, GA, the son of the late Irvin Howard Bachelor and the late
Fannie Mae
Raines Bachelor. He was a veteran of the
US Navy of WWII. He retired from the US
Postal Service with over thirty-four years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn
Summerour Bachelor in 2009, one brother, Weyman Bachelor 1996. Mr. Bachelor was a member of Shining Light
Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Bachelor are one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan
Bachelor of
Blairsville, two daughters, Yvonne Kennemore of Cumming, GA, Gayle
Bachelor of Blairsville,
two brothers and one sister-in-law, Howard and Sarah Bachelor of
McDonough, GA,
Alan Bachelor of Forest Park, one sister, Frances Duvall of Stone Mtn.,
eight
grandchildren, Kyle, Jennifer, Bryan, Joshua, Zach, Jade, Reagan and
Thackery,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at 12 p.m. from the Mountain
View
Chapel with the Rev. Tim Mason and Rev. Ric Hurd officiating. Special music was presented by George and
Jacqie Shangle, Sammy Nichols and the Shining Light Quartet. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers, Pete Victor, Richard Fairburn, Steve Keen, Arnold Butts,
Larry
Kolb and George Bumpus. The following
gentlemen served as honorary pallbearers, Jim Pruitt, Larry Mandigo and
Ed
Bolle. Interment followed in the Coosa
Methodist Church Cemetery with the North GA. Honor Guard conducing
military
honors. The family met with friends at
the funeral home on Monday from 10-12 p.m.

“Jack” Kemper Tucker, age 82, of Longwood, FL, formerly of Blairsville,
GA,
passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital in
Edgewood,
FL. Jack was born on Thursday, December
22, 1927 in Richmond, VA, to the late Richard and Ada Mae Tucker. He was a member of Markham Woods Presbyterian
Church, Lake Mary, FL, and was a former member of the First United
Methodist
Church of Union County in Blairsville.
Jack was former co-owner of Tuckers Family Restaurant, and a US
Army-Air
Force Veteran and was preceded in death son (sic), Kevin Tucker.
Survivors
include: wife, Pat Tucker of the home; daughter
& son-in-law, Nancy & Kevin McCarthy of Longwood, FL; son &
daughter-in-law, Shawn & Cindy Tucker of Apopka, FL; daughter &
son-in-law, Tammy & Joel Palmer of Blairsville; grandchildren,
Daniel and
wife Alison Lopez, Candace Lopez, Shauna Tucker, Ryan and wife Megan
Tucker,
Christopher Tucker and David McCarthy, step-grandchildren, Jamie
Hartzog and
Kelly Perry, great grandchildren, Jacob Duckett, Kendall Tucker and
Hudson
Tucker; step-great grandchildren, Justin Hartzog and Guy Perry.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1 PM from the Cochran
Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Travis Adams and Rev. Eddie Herring officiating. Music was provided by Chris Tucker and David
McCarthy. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers: Logan
Dyer, Reid Dyer, Presley Rich, Bob Head,
Jimmy Tallent and Phil Gilstrap. Burial
was in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Military honors were conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The family received friends at the Cochran

Home on Saturday, January 30 from 11 Am until 1 PM.
