Mr.
Hershel Everett, age 80, of Powder Springs, Georgia, formerly of
Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Friday, January 15, 1999 in Cobb General Hospital
in
Austell, Georgia.
Mr. Everett
was born in Union County, Georgia, on Sunday, October 20, 1918, a son
of the
late John Everett and Rebecca Galloway Everett.
He was a veteran of the U.s. Marine
Corp, and
served during WWII. Mr. Everett was a
retired truck driver, and had lived in Cobb County for the past 38
years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist
Church of Powder
Springs.
Survivors
include his wife, Nina Ree Jones Everett, of Powder Springs, Georgia,
sons:
Donald Everett and Arlene Everett, both of Marietta; Terry Everett of
Kennesaw,
Jerry Everett of Hiawassee; daughters: Helen Smith, of Snowcap, NC;
Shirley
Stockton, of Marietta; Doris Kidd, of Smyrna, GA., and Becky McClain,
of
Powder Springs, GA; sister, Myrtle
Mason, of Blairsville; 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and
one great
great grandchild also survive, along with many friends and other
relatives.
Funeral
services were held Monday, January 18, 1999 at 11
a.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev.
Tommy
Jones and Rev. Horace Potts officiating.
Special music was presented by Ken and Elaine Young. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Rob Stockton, B.J. Kidd, Adam Everett, Chris Everett, Eric Mitchell,
and Kenny
Smith. Interment was in Kennesaw
Memorial Cemetery in Marietta.

mr. richard edward daniel, sr.
Mr.
Richard Edward Daniel, Sr., age 75, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed
away
Monday, January 25, 1999 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Daniel
was born Friday, February 9, 1923, in Madison County, Alabama, a son of
the
late Alva Daniel and Ella Heard Daniel.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and served during World
War
II. Mr. Daniel had been employed as a
supervisor for the telephone company. He
had lived in this area since 1980, coming here from Tampa, Florida. Mr. Daniel was a member of First United
Methodist Church of union County, the local VFW, and was active in the
Union
County Senior’s Center. He was preceded
in death by his wife, Earlean O. Daniel, in 1992.
Surviving are
his son, Richard Daniel, Jr. of Winter Haven, Florida; son, Stephen C.
Daniel,
Sr., of Mulberry, FL; and daughter, Cheryl Ann Daniel,
of Tampa, FL; sisters: Helen Blevins, of
Gardendale, Alabama, and Agnes White, of Louisville, KY; brother, Lloyd
Daniel,
of Spring Hill, FL; 4 grandchildren: Kellie Daniel, and Brittany
McLaughlin,
both of Tampa, FL. And Stephanie Daniel, and
Stephen Daniel
Jr., both of Mulberry, FL.
Funeral
services were held Friday, January 29, 1999 at 2 p.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Reverend Charles Black
officiating. Special music was presented
by Ken and Elaine
Young. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Sam Nichols, J.L. Tanner, Thomas McLaughlin, Stephen
Daniel Jr.,
Randy Hunter, and Jimmy Nichols. Interment
was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs.
Bonnie Helen Cordell, age 71, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Wednesday,
January 27, 1999 at her home.
Mrs.
Cordell was born in Cherokee County, North Carolina on Tuesday, April
19, 1927,
a daughter of the late Alf Crowder and Rebecca Mull Crowder. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident
of this area. Mrs. Cordell had been
preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cordell, in 1987 and a son,
Dennis
Cordell in 1995.
Surviving
are son, William Danny Cordell, of Blairsville, and son Benny D.
Cordell of
Atlanta; four sisters: Bertha Taylor, of McCayesville; Bea Conley,
Virdie Cook,
and Lea Hughes, all of Murphy, NC. Many
friend and other relatives also survive.
Graveside
services were held Saturday, January 30, 1999 at
11 a.m. from Ivy Log Cemetery, with Rev. Tony Roberson officiating.
In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests donations made to
the family to help defray costs of funeral.

Mrs.
Bette Mauney Nelson, age 74, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Sunday. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at Hyatt-Gantt Funeral Home, Marietta with Rev. Allen Daniel
officiating. Burial will be at Kennesaw
Memorial Park Cemetery, Marietta, GA.
Mrs. Nelson was a native of Union County and being the wife of
the late
C.P.O. Joe G. Nelson, Ret. US Navy, she had traveled over the world for
thirty
years to various Naval Installations before retiring in 1973. Since retirement, she lived in Marietta. Survivors are her son, Michael W. Nelson,
Marietta, sisters, Grace Sparks, Akron, OH, Caroline Sullivan,
Blairsville, GA;
brothers, Tom Mauney, Gulf Breeze, Fla., Clyde Mauney, Jr., Blairsville.
