Mrs.
Bessie Cornelia Seabolt age 96 of Seabolt Rd. Blairsville passed away
on
Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following a brief
illness. Mrs. Seabolt was born on June
4, 1912 in Union County, the daughter of the late Arch Wimpey and the
late
Miranda Souther Wimpey. She was a native
and lifelong resident of Union County.
She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great
grandmother. She was preceded in death by
her husband,
Comer Seabolt in 1988, also a brother, Everett Wimpey and two sisters,
Frankie
Lance and Ada Plott. Mrs. Seabolt was a
member of Old Liberty Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Seabolt are one daughter and son-ion-law, Merlor and Crett Dyer of
Blairsville,
one son and daughter-in-law, J.D. and Ruby Seabolt of Blairsville, one
brother
and sister-in-law, A.J. and Alwayne Wimpey of Blairsville, four
grandchildren,
Karen and Harold Thompson, Bobby Seabolt, Carlton Seabolt, Kim and Gary
Lochbaum, four great grandchildren, Alex, Christian, Adam and Nolan,
many other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services wERE (sic) held on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 at 2 PM from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the rev. Jerry Young officiating.
Special music was presented by Lewis and Olene Dyer. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers,
John Seabolt, Ray Seabolt, Benny Burnett, Kenny Dyer, Scott Dyer and
Larry
Dyer. Interment followed in the Old
Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The
family met with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from
6-9 PM.

Mr.
Samuel
Paul Butt, age 85, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, formerly of Blairsville,
Georgia,
passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Altus House in Atlanta. Mr. Butt was born Thursday, July 5, 1923 in
Union County, Georgia, to the late Arnold Butt and the late Nell McGaha
Butt. Sam was a member of Zebulon
Baptist church in Blairsville, and had been previously active in North
Georgia
Honor Guard. Mr. Butt served in the U.S.
Army during World War II, in the European Theatre, and was retired from
Ford
Motor Company. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Mildred Owenby Butt; and two sisters, Rudy Hyde and
Juanita
Kelley.
Surviving
family members include daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Quinton
Dyer, of
Blairsville; son, Samuel Butt, Jr., of Atlanta; sisters: Lucille
Jordan,
Barbara Coker, Pauline Stephens, Louise Owenby, Claudine southern, all
of
Blairsville; and Betty Patterson, of Dalton, Georgia; Six (sic)
grandchildren:
Julianna Branham, Lisa Heppard, Lori Wynn, and Jason Wynn; and Micah
and Alexia
Butt; four great grandchildren: Olivia and Ava Heppard; and Makenna and
Keegan
Wynn; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. from Cochran
Funeral
Home – Blairsville Chapel, with the Rev. Wofford Kelley officiating. Music was provided by Louise Owenby. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Sammy Butt, Ken Ensley, Roy Crooks, Richard Sendek, Gary
Swinson,
and Anthony Papa. Interment followed in
Union
Memory Gardens Cemetery, with military honors presented by North
Georgia Honor
Guard.
The family
received friends at the funeral home Saturday evening, February 7, from

9 p.m.

C. “Jimmy” Duffey, age 64, of Blairsville, formerly of Lawrenceville,
passed
away Saturday, January 31, 2009.
Funeral
services were held at 2 PM, Wednesday, February 4, 2009, in the Chapel

Stewart Funeral Home with Rev Norris Nash and Rev. Preston Moore
officiating. A devoted husband, proud
father, doting
grandfather and an avid outdoorsman, Mr. Duffey was the owner of Duffey
Insurance Services. He is survived by
his wife of 45 years, Brenda B. Duffey of Blairsville, children, James

Duffey, Tucker, Jeffrey Scott and Christi Duffey of Hoschton, Jason

Blairsville, father, Oscar C. Duffey of AL, brother, Billy Ray Duffey

Mr.
William
F. “Bud” Ream age 81 of Arch Grizzle Drive Blairsville formerly of
Peru, IN, passed
away on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 in the Emory Hospital following a brief
illness. Mr. Ream was born on Dec. 16,
1927 in Miami County, IN., the son of the late Herman Ream and the late
Verna
See Ream. He retired from Wilson Food in
Logansport, IN, after over twenty one years of service.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather
and great grandfather. He was a member
of the I.O.F. organization. Mr. Ream
was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr.
Ream are his loving wife Dorothy Payne Grizzle Ream of Blairsville,
four sons
and three daughters-in-law, Ronald and Linda Ream, Roger Ream, Jeff and
Lynne
Ream and Randy Ream all of Peru, IN., two step daughters and son in
laws,
Geraldine and Larry Helton, Oriska and Robby McKim, two step sons and
daughters-in-law, J.M. and Cathy Grizzle, Kenneth and Trish Grizzle all
of
Blairsville, one sister, Frances Fogle of Russianville, IN., one
brother, Loren
Ream of Blairsville, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, many

relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral

held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at 2PM from the Mountain View Chapel
with the
Rev. Jason Helton and Rev. Ray Potts officiating. Special

Eddy,
Harvey Burnell, 89 of Blairsville, GA. went to be with the Lord on
Saturday, January
31, 2009. Harvey was born in Eagle
Bridge, NY. He is survived by his
wife
of 67 years Allian Eddy (Brenenstuhl), his sons Carson (Melody), Ronnie
(Caroline), Wayne and daughter Melodee Eddy Hoeltke (Carlton), 14
grandchildren
and 7 great grandchildren. Other
surviving relatives are brothers Walton (Margaret) and Raymond, sisters
Lois
Eddy Brown (Floyd) Janet Eddy Moses (Roy), and Marjorie Eddy Sweet. He was a machinist for American Locomotive
Company in Schenectady, NY during WWII, later working for Culligan
before
moving to Winter Park in 1956. He worked
for the Martin Company for 28 years before retiring in 1986. His later years were spent in his mountain
home in Blairsville GA. He was a member
of Winter Park Masonic Lodge #239, serving as its Worshipful Master in
1962, in
1982 he became Grand master of the Grand Lodge of Florida.
He was also active in the Scottish Rite
(Valley of Orlando) 33rd degree, York Rite, Grotto, and
Eastern star. For many years he worked
with the DeMolay, Rainbow, and Jobs Daughters of Orlando.
He was president of the Masonic Youth
Association for 10 years. He was author
of the Masonic Education Program that was not only used in the United
States
but also in Scotland. His slogan was
“Today’s Youth Tomorrows Future: reflecting his dedication and
involvement to
the Masonic Youth and other youth organizations. He
was past deacon and elder in the Maitland
Presbyterian Church and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in
Blairsville,
GA. He was an avid golfer, learning to
play
golf and age 65 he made two holes in one, occurring at 76 and 80. Funeral services were performed at the Henry
Chapel, at First Baptist Church of Orlando, Thursday, February 5th at 1
PM. Interment and Masonic Grave Site
services followed at 3 PM at Glen haven memorial park, Winter Park, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to
hospice of Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL. 33760.

Mr.
Raymond
Thomas Heckel age 86, of Whitehouse Drive Blairsville passed away on
Sunday,
Feb. 1, 2009 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended
illness. Mr. Heckel was born on Jan. 26,
1923 in New
Rochelle, NY., the son of the late Anton
Heckel and
the late Maude Sigfreid Heckel. He was a
veteran of the US Army of WWII. He had
retired from the Ft. Lauderdale News with over twenty years of service. Ray was a member of the VFW.
He loved to play golf and do
woodworking. He was preceded in death by
a brother, John Francis Heckel who was killed in WWII and by a sister,
Grace
Whitehouse. Mr. Heckel was of the
Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr.
Heckel are one niece and nephews, Brandi (Patti) Whitehouse and her
husband,
David Small, many friends from the VFW, many other relatives and
friends also
survive.
A memorial
services (sic) was held on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain
View Chapel with Chaplin Bob Huggins officiating. A eulogy was given by
Jack
McCorkle. Military Honors were presented
by the North Ga. (sic) Honor Guard. Interment
followed in the Holly Hills Cemetery.
The family met with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday
evening from
7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers if you wish,
the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer
society
in memory of Mr. Heckel.
