Anita
“Cricket” Spiva, age 39, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday,
February
9, 1999 at her home following an extended illness.
Anita was born in Fulton County, Georgia, on
Monday, September 28, 1959, a daughter of Mary Grace Weaver Spiva
and the late Guy Walter Spiva.
She had lived in Blairsville since 1974, coming here from Forest
Park,
Georgia. Ms. Spiva worked in many of the
local restaurants as a waitress. She had
been proceeded in death by her father, Guy
Walter
Spiva, in June, and an infant son, Justin Heath Spiva, in 1983.
Surviving are
her mother and step-father, Grace and Tommy Daniels, of Young Harris;
daughter,
Amanda Grace Pane, of Blairsville; son, Adam Jesup Payne, also of
Blairsville;
step-mother, Virginia E. Spiva, of Marietta; sisters: Jennifer
Rainwater, of
Rosewell, Kristie Payne, of Jasper, Angie Thomas, of Ellijay; brother,
Keith
Spiva, of Woodstock; step-sister: Janie Knight of Marietta, and Debbie
Free of
Hiawassee; step-brother Kelvin Long, of Marietta; and brother in law,
Danny
Payne, of Blairsville; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, February 12, 1999 at 2
p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev.
James
Thomas officiating. Special music was
presented
by Michelle Webb. In lieu of flowers, if
you wish, the family suggests memorials to be made to Hand and Hand
Hospice.

Mr.
Ralph W. Dyer, age 67, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday,
February
11, 1999, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville, Georgia.
Mr. Dyer
was born in Union County, Georgia, on Thursday, November 256, 1931, a
son of
the late Vernon Dyer and Pauline Watkins Dyer.
He was veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in Korea. Mr. Dyer was a lifelong resident of Union
County and owned and managed El Joe Motel and Restaurant for many years. Mr. Dyer was a member of First United
Methodist Church of Union County.
Surviving are
his son, Reid Watkins Dyer, of Blairsville; son and daughter in law,
Logan W.
and Haley Dyer, also of Blairsville; brothers: Gordon B. Dyer and
Joseph A.
Dyer, both of Blairsville; granddaughter, Ansley Dyer also survives
along with many
other friends and relatives.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, February 13, 1998 from
the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Carter
Maddox officiating. The following
gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Phillip Greg, and Bobby Dyer, Brian Dyer, Jamie Mull and
Derick
Dellinger. Interment was in Blairsville
City Cemetery, with military honors by North Georgia Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that
memorials be made to The Dyer-Souther Heritage Cemetery Fund, PO Box
716,
Blairsville, GA 30514.
