Mr. John
a. Naves, age 81, of Blairsville, GA., passed away Saturday, February
7, 1998 in
Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. naves was born on December 24,
1916 a son of the late Luther
Naves and Pearl Cagle Naves, in Floyd County, Georgia.
He was a retired assembly line worker and was
employed with General Motors for over twenty years.
Mr. Naves was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Army
veteran of world War II.
He had lived in this area for ten years,
moving here from Atlanta.
Surviving are his wife, Chloe Stover
Naves of Blairsville; sister,
Imogene Naves Fitzpatrick of Brunswick, GA., sister, Eudine Naves Lewis
of
Rome, GA.; and brother, Luther C. naves, Jr. of Lindale, GA.; several
nieces
and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, February 9, 1998 at 1 p.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Harold Sangster
officiating. Special music was presented
by Wayne
Copeland, Tammy Blasingame, and Patsy Davenport. The
following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Charles McClure, Jimmy Westberry, Floid Schneider, Andy
Anderson,
Wead Lewis, and Ray Roberts. Interment was in Roswell City Cemetery in
Roswell,
GA.

Mrs.
Laverne Cheshire Collins, age 89, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away
Saturday,
February 7, 1998.
Mrs.
Collins was born January 12, 1909 in Colquitt County, Georgia, a
daughter of
the late Robert Edward Cheshire and Minnie LeMack Cheshire. She had been living in Blairsville since
1950, coming here from St. Mary’s, GA.
Mrs. Collins was a teacher for forty-one years.
In St. Mary’s, she taught from 1945-1950,
from 1959-1961, in Lyerly, GA.; from 1950-1958, and from 1962-1973, she
taught
in Union County Schools. Mrs. Collins
was a member and former choir director and Sunday School
teacher at First Baptist Church in Blairsville.
Surviving
are her husband, Mr. C.R. Collins, of Blairsville; daughter, Becky
Moose of
Gainesville; brother, Lt. Col. Homer Cheshire, Ret., of Hendersonville,
N.C.;
sister, Rebecca Ogden of Lakeland, FL.; and sister-in-law, Inez
Cheshire;
grandchildren: Rodney Moose of Gainesville, Robert Moose of
Blairsville, Carrie
LuAnn Moose Dotson of Dalton; great grandchildren: Jake and Dalton
Moose of
Blairsville and Bobby Moose of Gainesville.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, February 10, 1998 at 2 p.m. from First
Baptist
Church of Blairsville, with Rev. Danny Parris, Rev. Bethel Buchanan,
and Rev.
Troy Acree officiating. Special music
was presented by Minister of Music Terry Hooper. The
following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Jack lance, Charles Hill, Hoyt Raper, Bobby Jackson, Jim
Dobson,
and Bob Ball. Serving as honorary escort
to the family were members of the T.E.L. Sunday School
class and Retired Teachers. Interment
was in Choestoe Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs.
Ethel Harkins Grizzle, age 85, of Blairsville, GA., passed away Sunday,
February 8, 1998.
Mrs.
Grizzle was born May 9, 1912 in Union County, GA., the
daughter of the late George Harkins and Callie gray Harkins. She was a homemaker and had lived most of her
life in this area. Mrs. Grizzle was of
the Baptist faith. She had been preceded
in death by a son, Jessie Grizzle, and a daughter, Odell Dispane.
Surviving
are her husband, Leonard Grizzle, of the home; daughter, Mae Norwood;
daughter,
Pauline Tipton; daughter, Lorene Stogsdill; and daughter, Helen Hilton;
all of
Blairsville; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and
three
great great grandchildren also survive.

services were held Wednesday, February 11, 1998 at 2 p.m. from
Philadelphia
Baptist Church with Rev. Waymon Lovell, Rev. Willis Garrett, and Rev.
Horace
Potts officiating. Special music was
presented by Betty and Hubert Legg. The

Mac Harkins, Tony Harkins, Vester Dills, James Burrell, Mark
Wright, and
Vernon Patterson. Interment was in
Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Irene Chambers Jackson, age 82, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Wednesday,
February 11, 1998 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs.
Jackson was born August 9, 1915, in Union County,
Georgia a daughter of the late L.W. Chambers and Cora Hood Chambers and
step-mother, Eva Gilbert Chambers. She
lived in Union County until 1958, when she moved to Hall County. Mrs.
Jackson
returned to Union County in 1993. Mrs.
Jackson was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and was the widow of
the late
rev. Tom Jackson.
Surviving
are her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and
Junior Young of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Melba
Jackson
of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Eva and Gene Wilson of
Gainesville;
son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Debra Jackson of Gainesville;
sisters, Inez
Woody of Marietta, Willie Turner of Blairsville and Clara Watson of
Alpharetta;
sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Ralph cash, of Dacula, GA.; ten
grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren three great great
grandchildren, also
survive, along with many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Funeral
services were held Friday, February 13, 1998 at 2 p.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Chatham and Rev. Clyde Coleman
officiating. Special music was presented
by Ken and Elaine

Henry
Ford Collins died at his resident on February 11, 1998 following an
extended
illness. Mr. Collins was an active
member of Springway Baptist Church, a member and past master of the
Masonic
Lodge #715. HE was a dedicated and
faithful member of his church, lodge, community and family. He served a four year tour of active duty in
Europe during world War II and was a truly
patriotic
American, fiercely loyal to his country.
Following
his dischage (sic) from his tour of duty he established and built
Collins
Allighment Service, located on the Old Cornelia Highway, where he has
maintained an active business since that time.
During his tenure here, he made many friends and established a
loyal
following of dedicated customers including School Systems in the area.
He was
preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Collins and father, vest
Collins of
Blairsville; also his daughter, Mary Nell Brown of Gainesville; 2
brother Hugh
and Lawrence Collins, both of Blairsville; 2 sisters, Helen Brown of
Blairsville and Lelian Jackson of Pwder (sic) Springs.
He is
survived by his wife Ruth Thomas Collins of Lula; 3 daughters and
sons-in-law,
Peggy and Ed Holland of Gainesville, Kathy and John Sutton of Baldwin,
Lynn and
Stewart Jones of Lithonia and stepson and daughter-in-law Larry and
Susan
Thomas of Lula; also survived by 1 brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs.
Eugene Collins of Blairsville; 2 sisters-in-law, Irene Collins, flora
Collins
and one brother-in-law, John Brown all of Blairsville.
He is survived by 5 granddaughters, Missy
Brown, Amanda Sutton, Lisa Sutton, Tina Herbermann and Gina Thomas. He is also survived by 3 grandsons, mike
Brown, Randy Brown and Chad Thomas; also 5 great grandchildren, several
nieces
and nephews and lots of loving friends and relatives.
A memorial
service was held at 11 .m. on Friday, February 13, 1998 at Springway
Baptist
Church. The Rev.
Johnny
Stone and Rev. Darrell Dale officaited (sic). Burial was
following at
the Belton Baptist Church Cemetery in Lula.

Mr.
Glenmore
L. Keith, age 78, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday,
February 12,
1998 in Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Keith
was born in Anderson County, Tennessee, on
December 28, 1919, a son of the late Charles Lawrence Keith and Lucy
Bell Diggs
Keith. Mr. Keith had lived in this area
for the past twenty years, coming here from Washington, D.C. HE attended the HOUSE of Prayer
Interdenominational Church, and was the widower of the late Mary Loew
Keith,
who passed away in 1992.
Surviving
are his daughter, Kathy Cohan of Knoxville, TN.; brothers-in-law, and
sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, February 15, 1998 at 2:30 p.m. from the
House of
Prayer with Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Edwin Messerschmidt officiating. Special music was presented by the House of
Prayer Church Choir. The following

preceded in death by her husband William Marcus Trepagnier. Surviving are daughters, Shirley Redd of

Mrs.
Jennie Plott Wilson, age 73, of Newnan, Georgia, formerly of
Blairsville,
passed away Thursday, February 12, 1998 in Newnan.
Mrs.
Wilson was born March 12, 1924 in Union County,
Georgia, a daughter of the late Smith Henry Plott and Nora Smith Plott. She lived most of her life in Union County,
and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wilson worked at Georgia Boot in Blairsville for seventeen
years
and was a member of the Rebecca’s of Oddfellow’s Lodge.
Mrs. Wilson was the widow of the late James
Ford Wilson, who passed away in 1991.
Surviving
her daughter, Patricia Wise, of Loganville, GA.; son, James Wilson of
Dahlonega, GA.; daughter, Priscilla Coffey of Warne, N.C.; daughter,
Barbara
Burnette of Dublin, GA.; son, John Wilson of Fayetteville, GA.; son,
Paul
Wilson of Newnan, GA.; and son, Mark Wilson of Cleveland, GA.; sisters,
Alice
Hood, Nan Adams, and Ruth Cantrell, all of Blairsville; brothers, Paul
Plott,
Worth Plott, and Elbert Plott, all of Blairsville; twenty-five
grandchildren,
