mr. john samuel davis III

 

Mr. John Samuel Davis, III, age 70, of Hidden Lake Road, Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at his home following a brief illness.  Mr. Davis was born on July 19, 1931 in Atlanta, GA, the son of the late James Davis and the late Mary McGuffey Davis.  Mr. Davis was retired from the National Guard where he was an Arms Inspector and was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was a Shriner, a member of the Allegheny Lodge #114, a former member of the Dooley Lodge, a member of the Union County Lions Club.  At the time of his death, he was employed by The United Community Bank of Union County.  Mr. Davis was a member of the Coosa Methodist Church.

Surviving Mr. Davis are his loving wife of twenty five years, Ursula Bochow Davis of Blairsville; five sons and four daughter-in-laws, John Samuel Davis IV and Fiancee, Sarah Skomp of Blairsville, David and Jenny Schaefer of San Antonnio, TX, Thomas and Gina Schaefer of Pensicola, FL, Dale Schaefer of Houston, TX Michael and Lisa Schaefer of Midland, GA; two sisters, Shirley Cavenaugh and Mary Puckett, both of Snellville, seven grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 2 pm from the Coosa Methodist Church with the Rev. Jon Herrin and Rev. Michael Johns officiating.   Special music was presented by Tammy Blassingame.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Jim Poteete, Richard Copeland, Elliott Hill, Tim Heard, James Jones, and Wade Smith.  Graveside services were conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard and by Allegheny Lodge #114.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. jepty louie forrester

 

Mr. Jepty Louie Forrester, age 77, of Town House Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2002 in the Clay County Care Center in Hayesville following an extended illness.  Mr. Forrester was born on September 3, 1924 in Laurens, SC, the son of the late William Hendrix Forrester and the late Bessie Crisp Forrester.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran where he served during the WWII and the Korean War.  He was a retired Radio Operator with the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of the local VFW, a former member of the North Georgia Honor Guard and a licensed Realtor for several years in Blairsville.

Surviving Mr. Forrester are his loving wife of fifty six years, Doris Alice Dronsfield Forrester of Blairsville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Steven Forrester of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Leland and Denise Forrester of Destin, FL, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, February 17, 2002 at 2 pm from the Holly Hill Cemetery with Chaplin Jack Howington officiating.  The North Georgia Honor Guard conducted the graveside services.  Interment followed in the Holly Hill Cemetery.

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was entrusted by the family for the arrangements.

mrs. laura seabolt lloyd

 

Mrs. Laura Seabolt Lloyd, age 97, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2002 in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home in Hiawassee.

Mrs. Lloyd was born in Union County, Georgia, on Saturday, February 11, 1905, a daughter of the late James Seabolt and Fannie Burnette Seabolt.  She was a homemaker and was the widow of the late Tom Lloyd, who passed away in 1965.  Mrs. Lloyd had lived most of her life in this area, and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Blairsville.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Flora and Boyce McNabb, of Hiawassee; and daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Bobby Taylor, also of Hiawassee; sister, Ethel Lloyd of Lafayette, Georgia; four grandchildren, Michael McNabb, Mitchel McNabb, Ronnie Taylor, and Dennis Taylor, all of Hiawassee; eight great grandchildren also survive, along with many friends and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 2 pm from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee, with Rev. Curtis Turner and Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.  Special music was presented for the services by The Turner Family, Bobby Taylor, and Men of Zion.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Michael McNabb, Dennis Taylor, Andy Lloyd, Christopher Taylor, Joshua Taylor, and Mike Green.  Interment was in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.

The family has entrusted Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with the arrangements.
