The
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces services for Mr. William
Robert
Holland, age 84, of Blairsville, GA who passed away Friday evening,
February
10, 2012 at his home.
Mr.
Holland was born in Joplin, MO on November 9, 1927 to the late William
Benjamin
Holland the late Irrah Elizabeth Stafford
(sic). He
received his BS Degree in Civil Engineering from Washington University
in
Missouri and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Business Management at
University of Southern California. Mr. Holland served in the US Navy
during
WWII and was an observer of the nuclear warhead test off of Bikini
Island in
the South Pacific. After returning home he moved to Kansas City to
pursue a
career of Civil Engineering. In 1978 he married Kathleen Baylis
in San Clemente, CA. While working with Bechtel Corp he was transferred
to
Saudi Arabia and South Africa He retired to St. Simons Island, GA where
he
developed a successful Real Estate/Appraisal company while serving on
the
County Planning Commission. In 1978 they decided to make their home in
Blairsville and they became members of First Baptist Church. Bill was a
member
of Boaz-Jesse Sunday School class and Kitty was a member of Charity
class.
He
will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed
by his
family: Loving wife of 34 years, Kathleen Holland of Blairsville;
daughters,
Jan Akeyson and Robin Slagle; daughter
&
son-in-law, Geri & Neil Brady; daughter & son-in-law, Kathy
& James
Bakken; s, Christopher Baylis;
son & daughter-in-law, Geoffrey & Shelly Baylis;
sister & brother-in-law, Mary & Glen Bell; grandsons: Cameron
Slagle,
Jason Baylis, Cody Baylis,
Garrett Baylis, and Evan Baylis
and granddaughters: Dagney Akeyson,
Heather & Chris Hogrebe, Wendy &
Bill Lussenheide.
Memorial
service were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday,
February 14,
2012 from the Rock Chapel of First Baptist Church in Blairsville with
Dr. Fred
Lodge and Rev. Danny Parris officiating. Special music was provided by
Rev. R.
Terry Hooper. The Boaz - Jesse Sunday School served as Honorary Escort
to the
family.

Mr.
Neal B. Kelley, age 88 of Blairsville, GA passed away Monday, February
13, 2012
at Union General Hospital. Mr. Kelley was born September 6, 1923 in
Blairsville
to the late John B. Kelley and the late Gertrude Weaver Kelley. He was
a member
of the Blairsville Church of Christ. Neal was a WW II Army Veteran,
having
served his country courageously in the European Theatre and fighting in
the
Battle of the Bulge, among other battles. He worked for many years for
the
Federal Government as Security at the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta.
Neal
will be missed by all who knew him, but especially his loving family;
his wife,
Louise Sullivan Kelley, daughter, Lisa Kelley and son, Brian Kelley,
all of
Blairsville.
Memorial
services for Neal are scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 2
p.m. from
the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Minister
Terry
Stuart and Minister Aaron Stanley officiating. You may send condolences

joanne virginia donohue
watson
Joanne
Virginia Donohue Watson, age 85, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012
at
Stonehenge Assisted Living in Blairsville, GA. Joanne resided in
Blairsville,
for the past five years. She was born in Petaluma, CA on November 26,
1926 the
daughter of the late Emmett Ignatius Donohue and Doris Rockwell. She
was proceed (sic) in death by her husband
John Rollin Watson,
Jr. (1995) and her son John Rollin Watson III (1999). She was a recent
member
of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville. While there she was active
in Faith
Sunday School Class, and the Beacon Mission
Team and
she had a heart for missions.
Before
coming to Blairsville Joanne lived 47 years in Northern Virginia (Great
Falls
and Herndon) She was an active member of the Lewinsville
Presbyterian Church in McLean, VA where she served as an elder; a
deacon; and
chair of the mission committee where she oversaw the relocation and
settlement
of a refugee family with five children from Laos, worked in the
Clothing
Closet, active in Christmas in April (was one of the best painters on
the
team), made communion bread, was a storyteller and acted in many of the
church
sponsored plays.
Before
coming to Northern Virginia Joanne traveled the four corners of the
world with
her husband. Living in Alaska (before it was a state), Cambodia (before
the
wars), and Costa Rica. She was raised in California living in many
cities up
and down the west coast, some including San Francisco, Carmel, San
Diego, Montrey and Pasadena. Her love for
the ocean and beach were
known by all.
Survivors
include: daughter and son-in-law Janice and Charles Coon of Bluemont,
VA; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Mike Baldwin of Blairsville,
and son
and daughter-in-law William and Virginia Watson of Little Washington,
VA;
grandchildren Jason Watson (New York, NY); Captain Christopher Baldwin
(US
Army) and wife Erika; Sarah Steel (Herndon, VA); Timothy Baldwin (Palm
Beach
Gardens, FL); Kelly Steel (Sterling, VA); and two great grandsons
Marcello and
Javier Watson; brothers: Emmett Donohue (Dolores, CO) Fredrick Martin
Donohue
(Melbourne, FL) and numerous much-loved nieces and nephews around the
world.
Services
will be held Thursday, February 23, at 2 p.m., with Dr. Fred Lodge
officiating
at The Rock Chapel of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, 290 Blue
Ridge
Street in Blairsville, GA.
In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beacon Mission Team at
the First
Baptist Church of Blairsville, P.O. Box 2054, Blairsville, GA 30514.

Mrs. Reva
Jean Butts, age 69, of Antioch Church Rd., Blairsville, passed away on
Sunday,
Feb. 19, 2012 in the Union General Hospital following an extended
illness. Mrs.
Butts was born on June 11, 1942 in Andrews, NC, the daughter of the
late Arthur
Garrett and the late Illa Clark Garrett.
She was a
lifelong resident of Union County. Reva
enjoyed
fishing and hunting. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and
great
grandmother. Reva was preceded in death by
her
husband, William “Sylvan” Butts in 2003 and also by three brothers, Odean, Owen and Junior Garrett and a sister, Illa Pearl Garrett. Reva
was a
member of Philadelphia Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Butts are
one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Gail Butts of Blairsville, two
daughters
and one son-in-law, Gale and Glenn Loyd of
Blairsville, Jeannie Atkins of Blairsville, one brother, James “J.L”
Garrett of
Monroe, GA, one sister, Sue Mills of St. Simons Island, GA, six
grandchildren,
Doug and Andy Loyd, Colt Atkins, Rocky Holbrooks, Yolanda Strickland and Chenoa
Abercrombie,
thirteen great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral
services will be
held on Wednesday Feb. 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the Philadelphia
Baptist Church
with the Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating. A
eulogy
will be given by her grandson, Doug Loyd.
The
following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Doug Loyd,
Andy Loyd, Colt Atkins, Rocky Holbrooks,
Vester Dills and James Garrett. Interment
will follow
in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with
friends
at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-9 pm.

Mr.
Clyde James Boudreau, age 78, of Silver Maple Lane, Blairsville passed
away
Sunday, February 12, 2012 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in
Gainesville.
Mr. Boudreau was born July 6, 1933 in Monticello, FL to the late Cleophas and Doris Lacasse
Boudreau. He moved here in 2004 from Kenneth City, FL. He was a loving
husband,
father and was a man who was always there for others, “a private
person”. Mr.
Boudreau loved fishing, boating and “His” computer and building things
in his
workshop. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors
include his wife, Elizabeth C. Boudreau of Blairsville, daughter Cheryl
Boudreau of Blairsville, sister, Betty Littlefield of Lowell MA,
brothers, Cleo
and Rosemary Boudreau of Vero Beach, FL and Raymond and Ruth Boudreau
of
Indiana, several nieces and nephews, his dog, Bear and his bird,
Buffett.
There
will be a family gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers make
memorials
to your favorite Animal Shelter.
