Mr. Larry
“Stud” Sosebee, age 48, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday,
February
16, 1998 in Blairsville.
Mr.
Sosebee was born in Cherokee County, North Carolina on
February 10, 1905, a son of the late Floyd
Sosebee and
Lena Teague Sosebee. He was a lifelong
resident of this area and attended Youngstown Baptist Church. Mr. Sosebee was preceded in death by a
brother, James Sosebee, in 1985.
Surviving
are his daughter, Pamela Kitchens of Blairsville; step-sons, Sandy Wood
of
Blairsville, and Randy Wood of Hiawassee; brother, Marcus Sosebee, of
Blairsville; brother, Henry Randolph
Sosebee, of Monroe, GA.; sister, Betty Foster of Blairsville; sister,
Vivian
cook of Lawrenceville, GA.; and half-sister Carolyn Rider of Dahlonega,
GA.; grandson,
Roger Cody Kitchens, also survives.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, February 18, 1998 at 2 p.m. from the
chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Leon Henderson
officiating. Special music was presented
by Jimmy and Judy
Thompson. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers: David Smith, Jimmy
Jones, Fred Thompson, Mickey Botts, David Kitchens, and Billy McCollum. Interment was in Owltown Cemetery in
Blairsville.

Mr.
William
R. Caldwell, age 75, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday,
February
18, 1998 in Union County.
Mr.
Caldwell was born in April 18, 1922, in Queens County, New YORK, a son
of the
late Charles Caldwell and Viola Allen Caldwell.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Force and served during
WWII. Mr. Caldwell was a retired chemist. He had lived in this area for the past ten
years, coming here from Florida. Mr.
Caldwell was a retired naval reservist, and graduate from Penn State
University. Mr. Caldwell was a member of
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving
are his wife, Elaine, of the home; daughter, Susan Caldwell, of New
Hampshire;
son, David Caldwell of Florida; brothers, Charles Caldwell of
Pennsylvania, and
Allen Caldwell of NY State; sister, Virginia Frawley of New York; three
grandchildren also survive.
Memorial
services were held Saturday, February 21, 1998 at 11 a.m. from St.
Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church.

Funeral
services were scheduled for Sunday, February 22, 1998 in the chapel of
Ward’s
Funeral Home for Marie Aikens, age 60, of Athens Why., Gainesville, GA. The Reverends Willis Garrett and Rev. Leon
Arrowood officiated. Burial was in
Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson, GA.
Mrs. Aikens
died at NEGMC on February 19, 1998 following a sudden illness. Mrs. Aikens was a native of Union
County. Mrs. Aikens owned and operated a
family home daycare. Mrs. Aikens was
preceded in death by her mother and father, Clyde and Bessie Sosebee,
and a son
Johnny Aikens. Mrs. Aikens was of the
Baptist
Faith.
Survivors
include her husband, Richard Aikens of Gainesville; daughters Phyllis
Fortner
and Vickey Johnson, both of Gainesville; sons, Dennis Thomason of
Mayesville,
Ronnie Thomason of Gainesville, and Steven Thomason of Mayesville;
brothers,
Joe Sosebee, Robert Sosebee, and Leonard Sosebee, all of Blairsville;

grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive.
