mr. james t. “bud” graves

 

            Mr. James T. “Bud” Graves, 53, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, February 18, 1996 at his home.   Mr. Graves was born in Plumas County, California, on November 19, 1942, a son of Albert James Graves and Viola Mae Driggers Graves.  He was a member of the House of Prayer Interdenominational Church in Blairsville.  Mr. Graves was a member of the Cross Trainers men’s ministry and was a seasoned truck driver for Stage Call and Production Transport. 

            Survivors include his wife, Ethelyn Little Graves, of the home; parents, Bert and Viola Graves of Loyola, California; daughter, Mysty Graves of Lakeland, Florida; son, Rex Graves of Blairsville; daughter in law, Tammy Graves, also of Blairsville; sister, Nedra Broyles, of Loyola, CA; twin sister, Joyce McGarity, also of Loyola; two grandsons, Daniel and Luke Graves, of Blairsville also survive.

            Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 21, 1996 at 4 p.m. from the House of Prayer Church with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.  The Church (sic) choir presented music.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Waymond Morgan, Cliff Goewey, Bud Walker, Chris Busbee, Gene Loughrey, Travis Kelley, Gary Kelley, Bob Chapin, and Jeff Jefferson.  Members of the Promise Keepers served as honorary escort to the family.  Interment was in Ivy Log cemetery (sic).  If you wish, in lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the House of Prayer fund for the Graves family expenses.

            Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.

mrs. ann watkins

 

            Mrs. Ann Watkins, 72, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 19, 1996 at her home.  Mrs. Watkins was born in Clay County, North Carolina, on May 9, 1923, a daughter of the late Witt Hughes and Della Scroggs Hughes.  She had lived in this area for most of her life and was a homemaker and a member of Hickory Stand Methodist church in Brasstown, North Carolina.  

            Surviving are her husband, Mr. Tommy Watkins, of the home; four daughters: Joyce Rogers of Blairsville; Shirl Dillard of Blue Ridge; pat Bob of Conyers, GA; and Pam Burrell of Blairsville; a sister, Pauline Stalcup of Boliver, Ohio, Grandchildren: Daniel Rogers, Hugh Rogers, Jason Burrell, and David Burrell, all of Blairsville’ Shannon Daves of Blue Ridge; Michael Dillard and Missy Dillard, both of Ellijay; Great Grandchildren: Caleb Beasley of Jasper, and Dylan Rogers and Devin Rogers, both of Blairsville.

            Funeral services were Wednesday, February 21, 1996 at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Reverend Burline Thomason officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: HL (sic) Rogers, Daniel Rogers, Hugh Rogers, James Burrell, Jason Burrell, and Ken Mashburn.    Interment was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville.

            Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.

mrs. joy martin pipkin

 

            Mrs. Joy Martin Pipkin,  age 62, of Rowland Heights, California passed away Thursday, February 22, 1996.  Mrs. Pipkin was born in Union County, but spent most of her adult life in California.  She worked in the moving industry for many years and was on leave from Eastern Van Lines at the time of her death.  Surviving are her husband, Mrs. (sic) Eddie L Pipkin of the home; son William M. Pipkin; five grandchildren, aunts and cousins.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 1996 at 11 a.m., from the Old Brasstown Baptist Church with the Reverend Tom Tucker officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Banister Funeral Home of Young Harris is in charge of arrangements.
