Mrs.
Christine
Sineath, age 88, longtime resident of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Friday,
February 25, 2011 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Mrs.
Sineath was
born in Eastman, Georgia, on Thursday, March 30, 1922, a daughter of
the late
Thomas Levin Cook and the late Lucy Mae Giddens Cook. Christine
lived in Florida for many years,
where she had been an accountant for the Duval County School Board. She was a member of First United Methodist
Church of Union County, and had been active in Union General Hospital
Auxiliary. Christine was preceded in
death by her husband, Holcombe "Si" Sineath, and a son, Jerry
Sineath.
Mrs.
Sineath is
survived by and lovingly remembered by three sons: Timothy W. Sineath,
of
Lexington, Kentucky; Mark Sineath, of The Villages, Florida; and Keith
Sineath,
of Starke, Florida. Numerous
grandchildren and great grandchildren and other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services for
Mrs. Sineath were held on Monday, February 28, 2011, at 2 p.m., at the
First
United Methodist Church of Union County, with Rev. Ben Lewis
officiating. Special music was presented
by First United
Methodist Church Choir. Burial was in
Union Memory Gardens Cemetery, with the following gentlemen serving as
pallbearers: Timothy Sineath, Mark Sineath, Keith Sineath, David
Sineath, Eric
Sineath, and David Richards. Visitation
at the funeral home was held Sunday, February 27, between the hours of
4 until
6 p.m.

Mr.
Leonard James
Twiggs, age 101, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, Georgia,
passed
away Thursday, February 24, 2010 (sic) at his home.
Mr.
Twiggs was born
in Union County, Georgia, on Saturday, May 1, 1909, a son of the late
Ken
Twiggs and the late Delia Cobb Twiggs. He
was a farmer, and a lifelong resident of Blairsville.
Other than his parents, Mr. Twiggs was
preceded in death by three sisters: Lillian Twiggs, Madge Bittner, and
Ardean
Twiggs; and a brother, Jewell Twiggs.
Mr.
Twiggs will be
lovingly remembered and is survived by a nephew, Randall Twiggs, of
Blairsville;
a niece, Thelma McConnel, of Woodstock, Georgia, and a niece, Bobbi
Heiner, of
Akron, Ohio.
Funeral
services were
held Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran
Funeral
Home of Blairsville with Rev. Richard Mashburn officiating. Special music was presented by Jim Buchanan,
and the following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Joe Patterson, Jeff
Locke,
Gerald Nation, Mike Robinson, Brian Dillanger, and Dave Patterson. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in
Blairsville.

Mrs. Ruth
Ruby
Daniel age 68 of Henson Rd., Blairsville passed away on Feb. 23, 2011
at her
home following a brief illness. Mrs.
Daniel was born on Aug. 22, 1942 in Union County the daughter of the
late Carl
Martin and the late Mae Mease Martin. She
was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Ruth
enjoyed cooking, baking and making sure
that everyone had plenty to eat. She was
a loving mother, sister and grandmother. She
was preceded in death by three brothers,
Zeb, Harold and Ray Martin and by two sisters, Faye Martin and Mary
Bragg. Mrs. Daniel was a member of
Ebenezer Baptist
Church.
Surviving
Mrs.
Daniel are one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Billie Daniel of
Blairsville,
three sisters and one brother-in-law, Dorothy Lewis of Blairsville,
Anna Mae
Jones of Hayesville, Henrietta and Alan Ledford of Hayesville, two
brothers and
sisters-in- law, Stokley and Nola Martin of Blairsville, Rev. R. L. and
Katherine Martin of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Dillon, Joshua,
Bailey,
Jonah and Kennedy, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and
friends
also survive.
Funeral
services were
held on Friday Feb. 25, 2011 at 11 AM from the Mountain View Chapel
with the
Rev. Tommy Seay officiating. Special
music was presented by Jeremy (Mow) and Joy Buckner. The
following gentleman served as pallbearers,
Alvin Ledford, Jerome Martin, Danny Jones, Kim Jones, Ron Martin and
Kenneth
Martin. Serving as honorary pallbearers were James and Dillon Shubert,
Terry,
Gary and Bobby Martin. Interment followed
in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The
family met with friends at the funeral

Mrs.
Josephine Marie
Dion, age 103 of Sharp Top Circle, Blairsville, passed away on
Saturday,
February 26, 2011 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Dion was born in Charlotte, VT the
daughter of the late Louis Poulin and the late Gertrude Bisonette. Josephine moved to the area five years ago
from Burlington, VT. She loved watching
Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Mrs. Dion is
preceded in death by her husband, Alphonse Dion and by her first
husband,
Nelson Godbout, three sons Edward Dion, Oliver Dion and Robert Godbout,
a
daughter Barbara Remillard, and her eight siblings. Mrs.
Dion was a member of the St. Josephs
Catholic Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Dion
are five daughters and four sons-in-law, Chris and Leonard Bufano of
Blairsville, GA, Linda and David Miller of Burlington, VT, Jackie and
Jack
Beaudoin of Arcadia, FL, Lorraine Godbout of Contois, VA and Alma
Bourgualt of
MI, a son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Jean Godbout of Arcadia, FL,
thirty-four
grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous great-great
grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Romano age
84 of Beacon Hill, Blairsville passed away on Sunday Feb. 20, 2011 at
his home
following and extended illness. Mr.
Romano was born on June 1, 1926 in
Havana Cuba, the son of the late Isidoro Romano and the late Bertha
Sarfati
Romano. Isaac retired as a pilot with
the Cuban Airlines after several years of service. He was a loving
husband,
father, brother and grandfather. He was
preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Salvavor Romano and by
two
sisters, Rebeca and Susana. Mr. Romano
was of the Jewish faith.
Surviving
Mr. Romano
are his loving wife of fifty-two years, Eleanor Prince Romano of
Blairsville,
one son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Kippie Romano of Blairsville,

brother and sister-in-law, David and Judy Romano of Tampa, FL, one
sister,
Violata Roque of Cuba, two grandchildren, Nicholas and Sophia Romano,

McCaskill, age 94, of Pine Ridge Acres, Blairsville, passed away on

2011 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. McCaskill was born on Jan. 17, 1917 in
Conley Springs, NC, the daughter of the late Gordon Berry and the late
Bessie
Griffin Berry. She was a veteran of the
US Army. She was a loving wife, mother,
sister, grandmother, great-and great-great grandmother.
Mrs. McCaskill was a member of St. Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church.

Mr.
Vincent James Rizzitello age 63 of Melon Rd., Blairsville, GA,
passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 at his home following a long
battle
with Esophageal Cancer. Mr. Rizzitello was born on Aug. 10, 1947 in
Newark, NJ,
the son of Isabelle Watt Rizzitello and the late John Charles
Rizzitello. Vincent was a veteran of the
US Army of the
Vietnam War. He retired as Detective
from the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department after over twenty-seven years
of
service. After moving to Blairsville he
was employed with Union Realty for several years. He
was a member of the Fraternal Order of
Police and a member of the National Association of Realtors. He was a loving and caring husband, father,
brother, son, son-in-law and grandfather and was a friend to
many.
Vincent was of the Catholic faith.

Vincent are his loving wife of twenty-seven years,
Barbara Ann Rizzitello of Blairsville, his mother Isabelle Rizzitello
of
Belmar, NJ, mother-in-law Dorothy Bellande of Blairsville, three sons
and
two daughters-in-law, Kenneth Rizzitello, Darrin and Tina
Rizzitello all
of Greenville, SC, Jason and Tabitha Rizzitello of Colorado Springs,
CO, one
daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Bill Cuevas of Scottsdale, AZ,
eight
siblings, Patricia Koempel, John, Joseph, Doreen, Steve and Michael
Rizzitello,
Susie McGowen and Carole Semanaro all of New Jersey, four grandchildren
, Cayden,
Emily, Sophia and Anthony Rizzitello, many other relatives and friends

survive.

Geary, age 67, of Butternut Creek Rd., Blairsville, passed away on
Monday,
February 21, 2011 at his home. Bill was
born in New York on April 11, 1943. Bill loved to spend time with his
family
and friends and had a passion for good food and his computer. He was a kind and gentle man and was a loving
husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.
Bill
is
survived by Jo Ellen, his devoted wife of 32 years, son Bill and his
wife
Alison of Jacksonville, FL, son Christopher and his wife Christina of
Long
Island, New York, brother Bob and his partner David Bridgman of Los
Angeles,
CA, three grandchildren: Jessica Grassi, Connor and Rylee Geary. Additionally, there were many special people
in Bill’s life, including Patti Baranello, Robin Smith-Wright, Scott
Ginsburg,
Phyllis Martin and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and dear
friends.
