Mrs.
Wilda
Jane Lunsford, age 81, of Lunsford Drive, Blairsville passed away on
Feb. 23,
2009 at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Lunsford was born on Nov. 27, 1927 in Fannin County, the
daughter
of the late Dallas Monroe Woody and the late Mary Melinda Hood Woody. She was a loving mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother and was dedicated to caring for her family. Her home was always filled with love that was
extended to everyone who entered. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Lunsford, a daughter,
Lillian
Lunsford, two brothers, John and Earl Wood (sic) and a sister, Geraldine
Smith. Mrs. Lunsford was a member of
Sugar Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Lunsford are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Vester Dills,
Judy and
Greg Odom, three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Janet Lunsford,
Larry and
Dottie Lunsford, Junior and Gloria Lunsford all of Blairsville, three
sisters,
Ruth Champion of Canton, GA, Ruby Johnson of Lawrenceville, Louise
Wilson of
Morganton, one brother, Bobby Woody of Canton, seven grandchildren,
Jonathon
Dills, Jamie, Kevin and Jason Lunsford, Jennifer Murphy, Kaitlyn and
Kameron
Odom, step grandchildren, Chris Foster, Charles Weeks, Dwayne Farner
and Army
Guffey, one great-grandson, Russell Lunsford, step great-grandchildren,
Taylor
Murphy, Brandon and Sam Guffey and Wayne Jones, many other relatives
and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009 at 2 PM from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Chad Underwood officiating. Special
music was presented by Becky Rogers,
Peggy Chambers and Dana Nelson. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Jonathon Dills, Kevin,
Jason, Jimmy,
Jamie and Travis Lunsford. Serving as
honorary pallbearers were, Russell Lunsford, Thomas, Christopher and
Jay Lee
Champion, Charles Smith, Robby Woody and Steve Wilson.
Interment followed in the
Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church
Cemetery. The family met with friends at
the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-9 p.m.

Mrs.
Fanny
Sellers Hall, age 83, of Owltown Rd, Blairsville passed away peacefully
on
Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 in the Union General Hospital following an
extended
illness. Mrs. Hall was born on Sept. 20,
1927 in New Smyrna Beach, FL, the daughter of the late Henry Cecil
Sellers and
the late Rosa Lee Shockley Sellers. Mrs.
Hall was a member of the Blairsville Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a loving wife, mother, sister,
grandmother and great grandmother. She
was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Thomas Sellers. Mrs. Hall was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving Mrs.
Hall are her loving husband of sixty-one years, William Frank Hall of
Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, William T. and Bernice Hall
of
Talking Rock, GA, one daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean Hall-Stoudt
and her
husband Gene of Tallahassee, FL, four brothers and sisters-in-law, Evan
and
Mary Sellers of Blairsville, Gene and Tina Sellers, Cecil and Glenda
Sellers,
Randal and Betty Sellers all of Pelham, GA, two sisters and one
brother-in-law,
Elizabeth Ray of Cairo, GA, Gloria and Jody Evans of lake Park, GA, six
grandchildren, Charlene Scott, Kim Grisham, Stephanie Meridith, Gene
Stoudt
Jr., Teri Bovell and Dena Corsentino, ten great-grandchildren, a host
of
nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in
Tallahassee,
FL. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the
family requests that memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of
Mrs. Hall.

Mrs.
Jessie
L. Erwin, age 93, of Owltown Rd. passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 25,
2009 in the
Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Jessie was born December 1, 1915 in the
Owltown District of Union County and lived in this area her entire life. Jessie was a homemaker, who was known as an
avid gardener, seamstress, and fantastic cook, baking as many as 100
cakes at
Christmas. She was buried in Shady Grove
Cemetery on land donated by her father Frank Spivia.
As a young girl, Jessie helped her father
clear and tend the cemetery area. Jessie was loved by her family and numerous
friends, who appreciated her friendship and hard work.
She was preceded in death by her first
husband, Frank Davis and by her husband Paul Erwin, a son Charles
Davis, four
brothers, Vernon, Clyde, Cecil and Warren G. Spivia, three
sisters, Callie Lou Corn, Cathaleen Davis and Clarice Wiggins. Jessie was
a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church.
Surviving Jessie
are two sons and daughters-in-law, Benny and Janice Erwin of
Blairsville,
Lehman and Myrna Davis of Cumming, GA, one daughter and son-in-law,
Paulette
and Gary Hill of Griffin, GA, six grandchildren, Nicole Queen, Jessica
Erwin,
Travis Hill, Traci Rehm, Ira Davis and Heather McCoy, several nieces,
nephews,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating.
Special music was presented by Angie Kelley.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers, Matt Queen, Ira Davis, Brandon McCoy, Wesley Holbrooks,
Royce
Futch and Travis Hill. Interment
followed in the Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruth
Beaver age 84 of Blairsville, formerly of Clayton, passed away on
Wednesday,
Feb. 25, 2009 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended
illness. Mrs. Beaver was born on April
11, 1924 in
Lewistown,
PA, the daughter of the late Park Beaver and the late Thelma Long
beaver. Mrs. Beavers was of the Episcopal
faith.
Surviving Mrs.
Beaver are one
sister, Bonnie Kennedy of Clayton, GA, two brothers and one
sister-in-law,
Donald A. Beaver of Hagerstown, MD, Park O. and Susan Beaver Jr. of
Hiltonhead,
SC, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 11 AM from St. Clares
Church
with Father Tom Martin officiating. IN

Mrs. Dora
Allison Spiva, age 104, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville,
GA, passed
away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Union General Hospital in
Blairsville.
Mrs.
Spiva was born Friday, February 10, 1905 in Union
County, GA, to the late Jim Hunter and the late Martha Souther Hunter. She graduated from the Blairsville Academy,
Young Harris College and The University of Georgia.
She was the oldest living member of Choestoe
Baptist church and had been very active in the church all her life, and
was a
founding member of the WMU at Choestoe.
Mrs. Dora was retired from the Union County School System and
was a
member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association, a charter member of
The Blairsville
Garden Club, The American Legion Auxiliary, and Union County Historical
Society. The Dora Spiva Educational
Program is a scholarship program at Truett-McConnell College in
Cleveland, GA,
named in honor of Mrs. Spiva. She was
preceded in death by first husband, Frank Allison and second husband,
Dan
Spiva. She was an inspiration to many
Surviving
family members include: special nephew, Charles “Buddy” and Bobbie
Hunter of
Blairsville; any other nieces and nephews, and a hot of friends.
Funeral
services were held Friday, February 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. from the
Choestoe
Baptist Church with Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating. Music was provided by Rev. Stacy Dyer and
Bill Collins and Linda Thornton. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Daniel Hunter, Chris Souther, Josh Lewis, Eddy Alexander, Barry
Collins,
Phil Hunter, Ken Hunter, and Lesly Hunter.
Interment followed in Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 6 until 9 p.m., Thursday,
February
26.

Mrs.
Wanda
Lee Clement, age 76, of Jewell Mason Rd., Blairsville passed away on
Wednesday,
Feb. 25, 2009 in the Union General Hospital following an extended
illness. Mrs. Clement was born on April
18, 1932 in
Union County, the daughter of the late Virgil McClure and the late Iowa
Elliott
McClure. She was a native and lifelong
resident of Union County. Wanda lived
for her family and never met a stranger.
She had a great sense of humor.
She will be remembered as she lived, loved and her laughter. She was preceded in death by her first
husband, Preston Patterson in 1968, a daughter, Marcia Patterson Duvall
in
1985, a brother, Dale McClure and a sister, Rowena Brown.
Wanda was a member of Bethlehem Baptist
Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Clement are her loving husband of forty-one years, best friend and
fishing
buddy, Bill Clement of Blairsville, two sons and daughters-in-law,
Barry and
Theda Patterson of Blairsville, Gary and Teresa Patterson of
Blairsville, one
daughter, Karen Patterson Collins of Blairsville, adopted daughter,
Angie
Collins of Blairsville, one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Shirley
McClure
of McDonough, GA, six grandchildren, April and Jon Krieger, Jeremy
Duvall, Ami
Byars, Travis Collins, grace and Rachel Patterson, one
great-grandchild,

services were held on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 2 PM from the Mountain

Chapel with the rev. Steve Swisher and Wanda’s family officiating. Special music was presented by Theda
Patterson and Danita Kennedy. The

Jack Byers, Michael Duvall, Dean Saxon and Richard Patterson. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Kim T.

in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Frank
Bitler Marsh, age 92 of Cedar Creek Drive, Blairsville formerly of Ft.
Lauderdale, FL., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 in the Union
General
Hospital following an extended illness. Mr.
Marsh was born on March 17, 1916 in Atlantic City, NJ.,
the son of the late Frank Marsh and the late Dorothy Bitler Marsh. Frank loved the sea and was employed as a
Captain for a cruise line for several years.
He enjoyed working on things and fixed everything that he
touched. He was a loving and caring person
and had a
nickname as the Gentle Giant which is friends knew him as.
He was preceded in death by his wife Golden
Marsh, a brother, Joseph Marsh, sister, Lois Wiles, nephew, Jeffrey
Frank Marsh
and sister-in-law, Helen marsh. Mr.
Marsh was a member and Deacon of the Emanuel Baptist Church in Ft.
Lauderdale.
Surviving Mr.
Marsh are a nephew Lee and Sandy Marsh of Blairsville, niece, Lynne
Marsh
Graham of Blairsville, great nieces and nephews, Kevin Marsh, Robin
Delacruz,
Ryan Marsh and Lisa Matos, five great-great nieces and nephews, many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with
interment
following in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pompano beach, FL. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family request that
memorials
may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Mr. marsh.
