mr. adelbert david “a.d.” smith
Mr.
Adelbert
David “A.D.” Smith, age 95, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Tuesday,
February 24, 1998 in Union County.
Mr. Smith
was born April 11, 1902 a son of the late William Avery Smith and Rosana Lucinda Campbell Smith.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and
served during World War I. He had lived
in this area for the past two years, coming here from Coral Springs,
Florida
where he had lived for twenty years. He
was a member of the House of prayer Interdenominational Church. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his
wife,
Ethyl Smith, in 1997.
Surviving
are his son, Dr. Donn Smith of Blairsville;
grandchildren Jennifer Camp, Nannette O’Neill, and Cheri Meaders, all
of
Blairsville, John Puckle of Margate, Florida, Barbara Smith of West
Palm Beach,
FL., Pamela Snyder of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Kelly Beloise of Tarpon
Springs, FL.,
and Kim Tatum, of Alpharetta, GA., fourteen great grandchildren, and
two great
great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, February 28, 1998 at 11 a.m. from The
HOUSE of
Prayer Church with Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Bill Honaker officiating. Special music was presented by The House of
Prayer Choir. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers: Steve Fisk, Scott
Camp, Dan O’Neill, Sandy Meaders, Shane Heatley, and Dr. Gordon held
(sic). The following gentlemen served as
honorary escort to the family: Scott Tatum and Mel Snyder.
Interment was in Trackrock Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mr.
William
“Bill” Patterson, age 70, of Raleigh, North Carolina, formerly of
Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Sunday, February 22, 1998 in a Raleigh hospital.
Mr.
Patterson was born in Union County, Georgia, on May 17, 1927 a son of
the late
William H. Patterson and Lillie Elliott Patterson.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served
in Korea and Germany. Mr. Patterson was
of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving
are his wife, Liselotte Patterson, of Raleigh; son, Richard H.
Patterson, and
daughter, Deloris P., Owens, both of Raleigh; brothers, Eugene and
Herbert
Patterson, both of Blairsville; sisters, Ruth Patterson and Geneva
Cook, both
of Blairsville, and Pat Tinnaro of Tamp, FL.; grandsons, Michael
Christian
Owens, and Ian Richard Owens.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, February 26, 1998 at 2 p.m. from Bethlehem
Baptist
Church with Rev. Ray Potts officiating.
Special music was presented by The Faith Singers.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Michael Owens, Ian Owens, Wesley Carroll, Michael Carroll,
Roy
Cook, Jr., and Duane Patterson. Interment
was in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Willa Mae Taylor Woody, age 79, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away
Saturday,
February 28, 1998 in Union County. She
was a native of Fannin County, Georgia and was born on September 10,
1918 a
daughter of the late Jackie Meers and Arrie Frazer Meers.
She was a homemaker and had lived most of her
life in this area. Mrs. Woody was a
member of Cooper’s Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving
are her husband, Loy Woody of Blairsville; son, David Taylor, son
Monroe
Taylor; daughter, Mae Bell Lee, and daughter, Lois Porter, all of
Blairsville;
sister, Lizzie Bramlett and brother, Clifford Meers, both of Skeenah
Gap, and
brother, Clyde Meers, of Blairsville; sixteen grandchildren and twenty
three
great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, March 2, 1998 at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel
with
Rev. Jay Bryant officiating. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Edgar Lee, Tony Lee, Jason
Lee,
Perry Porter, Paul Porter, and Evan Woody.
Interment was in Cooper’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Henry
Tucker, III, age 60, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away at his home,
February
23, 1998 following a period of declining health. Mr.
Tucker was born in Shelby County, TN, on
July 13, 1937 the son of Harry Tucker, Jr. and Cecil Gatling Tucker. He was retired from the food management
field.
Surviving
are his mother, Mrs. Cecil Tucker of Nashville, TN.; wife, Mrs. Fran
Tucker of
Blairsville, GA.; daughters, Mrs. Karen Boston and Mrs. Janet Brunson
both of
Memphis, TN.; son, James Kuykendall of Blairsville, GA.; sisters, Mrs.
Sylver
Groggins of Asheville, N.C., Mrs. Celeste Toneli of Memphis, TN., June
Holcomb
of Nashville, TN.; four grandsons and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request that
donations be made to hand in hand Hospice.

Mrs.
Dorothy D. Dashiell, age 79, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away
Tuesday,
February 24, 1998 at Union General Hospital.
Dorothy was born December 20k, 1918 in Scotia, Nebraska, and
raised in
Kanorado, Kansas, where she graduated from high school in 1936. Dorothy served in the WAC’s in World War II
and upon her discharge she completed her Library Science degree in
Chicago. She worked until her retirement
as a Medical Librarian in Chicago, Illinois and Miami, Florida. Upon moving to Blairsville, she was a
resident of Branan Lodge and a member of their Kazoo band and a member
of the
Union General Hospital Auxiliary.
Preceding
her in death were her parents, Earl and Inez (Reeves) Daily; husband,
Samuel
Dashiell of Lake Worth, Florida; step-son David Dashiell; one brother
and one
sister. Surviving are her daughter,
Sharon McFall and husband Bill of Crane, Missouri; step-son, Joseph
Dashiell,
of Miami, Florida; two brothers, Duane W. Daily and Doyle R. Daily of
Denver,
Colorado; one sister, Donita Limper of Trenton, Nebraska, and four
grandchildren
and her loving friends, the Earl’s, the Hemby’s, and the Perry’s of
Blairsville.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, March 1, 1998 at Branan Lodge, with Rev.
Orville
Nelson officiating. Florence Ford,
representing the North Georgia Honor Guard, presented the Flag to
Dorothy’s
family. Also in attendance were many
members of the Union General hospital Auxiliary.
In lieu of
flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the tax-deductible ministry of
Restoration Road, Inc., 7890 Restoration Road, Blairsville, GA. 30512.
