Mrs.
Ethel
Robinson Turner, age 84, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday,
February
23, 1997 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Turner was born in Fannin County, Georgia,
on April 17, 1912, a daughter of the late Andrew Johnson Robinson and
Nancy
Richards Robinson. She was a homemaker
and a lifelong resident of this area.
Mrs. Turner was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in
the
Hemptown section of Fannin County. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Bryson Turner in 1970, and a
sister,
Elzie Culberson, in 1986.
Surviving
are son and daughter-in-law, Myron and Brenda Turner of Blairsville;
son and
daughter-in-law, Marvin and Carolyn Turner of Austell, GA.; daughter,
Nancy
Buchanan of Marietta; son and daughter-in-law, David and Joy Turner ,
of Mineral
Bluff, GA.; and daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Chuck Foster of
Epworth,
GA.; sisters, Myrtle Cox of Blue Ridge, GA., Ella Hunter of Marietta,
Flora
Odom of Chicago, IL., and Minnie Groves of Glenville, GA.; ten
grandchildren
and one great grandchild also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, February 26, 1997 at 11 a.m. from bethel
United
Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Black, Dr. Robert Darby, and Rev.
Claude
Mathis officiating. Special music was
presented by Carolyn Gibbs and Delja Cox.
The following grandsons served as pallbearers: Burton Turner,
Barry
Turner, Bretney Turner, John Bryson Turner, Luke Foster, Ryan Buchanan,
Heat
Buchanan and Leslie Dew. Interment was
in Hemptown Cemetery.

services for Judge Carlton Lewis, age 90, of Chickasha, were held at 2
p.m.,
Monday, February 10, 1997, in the Fort Cobb Cemetery.
Brother Bill Evans of Ninnekah officiated.
Judge
Carlton Lewis was born July 26, 1906 in Blairsville,
GA., the son of Jewel and Nettie (Swanson) Lewis, and died February 7,
1997 in
Chichasha (sic)
He
married Elsie Evans, June 9, 1980 in Gainesville, Texas.
Mr. Lewis
came to Oklahoma in the early 1950’s. He
was a retired farmer, truck driver and
ranch worker.
He had
been a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was
preceded in death by both parents,
three sisters, and one brother.
Survivors
include his wife, Elsie of the home; three
brothers, June Lewis of North Charleston, S.C., Ray and Wead Lewis,
both of
Blairsville, GA.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Interment
was in the Fort Cobb Cemetery under the direction
of Fort Cobb Funeral Home.

Mrs.
Lennar
Mason Plott, age 81, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday,
February 23,
1997 at her home.
Mrs.
Plott was born in Cherokee County, North Carolina, on
November 13, 1915, a daughter of the late Garthel Mason and Hettie
Turner
Mason. She was a homemaker and had lived
in this area for most of her life. Mrs.
Plott was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.
Surviving
are her husband, Worth Plott, of the home; son and daughter-in-law,
Clinton and
Barbara Plott, of Chatsworth, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Vondell and
Homer
Powell, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Melvin
Emerson, of
Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Joelain and Wayne Roberts of
Blairsville;
daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Randall Dillbeck of Marietta; and
son and
daughter-in-law, Allen and Martha Plott of Blairsville; brothers, Edgar
Mason
of Blairsville, Clayton Mason of Hull, GA., Lewis Mason of Covington,
GA.;
sisters, Tiny Brown, Annie Mae Plott, and Doris Brown all of
Blairsville; seven
grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

services were held Tuesday, February 25, 1997 at 2 p.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Coleman, Rev. Leon Henderson, and
Rev.
Ronnie Abernathy officiating. Special
music was presented by Lewis Smith, Ned Wilcoxon, Willaree Davenport,
Odina
Gibson, Micelle Rowe, and Ezra Davenport.

Mrs. Ila Faye Anderson, age 74, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed
away Sunday, February 23, 1997 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs.
Anderson was born in Walker County, Georgia on November
30, 1922, a daughter of the late James Alexander McArthur and Jeney
Anne
Alexander McArthur. She was a homemaker
and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
A native of North Georgia, she had lived in Lake Park, Florida
for
thirty years before returning here seven years ago.
Surviving
are her husband, Mr. Andy Anderson of Blairsville; daughters, Peggy

Miss
Thelma
Rogers, age 79, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away February 26, 1997
from
injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Miss
Rogers was born in Fannin County, Georgia, on July 22,
1917, a daughter of the late William Rogers and Minnie Florence Cook
Rogers. She moved back to this area from
Alabama in 1984. Miss Rogers was a member
of Confidence Methodist Church.
Surviving
are two sisters, Mary Ruth Rogers, of Blairsville and Jewell Bragg of
Silver
City, New Mexico; nieces and nephews, Mary Frances King, June Busbee,
both of
Blairsville; Jerri Crawford of Atlanta; Louise Chapman of Charlotte,
N.C.;
Willa Mae Whatley, and William Panter, both of Birmingham, AL; and Mary
Clinkscales of Charleston, S.C.

Nix, age 68, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, February 28,
1997.
Mr. Nix
was born in Union County, Georgia, on April 12,
1928, a son of Ben NIX and Lottie Duckworth Nix. He
was a lifelong resident of this area.

are his wife, Ruth Thomas Nix, of the home; daughters, Carol Arrowood,
Linda
Thompson, and Evelyn Russell, all of Blairsville;

Mr. Reid
A. Duvall, age 79, of Greshamville, Georgia, passed away Thursday,
February 20,
1997 in Minnie G. Boswell memorial Hospital.
Mr.
Duvall was born in Union County, Georgia, a son of the
late John Lewis Duvall and Nellie Stephens Duvall.
He had lived most of his life in Green
County, Georgia, and was owner and operator of D and D Dairy and Cattle
Farm. He was a member and deacon of New
Hope Baptist Church; San Marino Lodge #34 of Greensboro (Royal Arch,
Council,
Commanderay, and Past Master) Farm Bureau Member, the Order of the
Eastern
Star, First Man of the Year for ASCS (1962). F.H.A.
Board of
Directors.
Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Ruth C. Duvall, of Greshamville; daughters, Martha
D. Wood
of Nicholson, GA., Nell D. Magnus of Maxeys, Georgia, and Cathy D.
Smith of
Greshamville; sons, Larry Duvall of Stockbridge, GA., and Billy Duvall
of
Greshamville; sisters, Ruby Norton of Eatonton, GA. Jonnie Deaver of
Blairsville, and Christine Yarbrough, of Gray, GA.; nine grandchildren
and two
great grandchildren also survive.

services were held Saturday, February 22, 1997 at 2 p.m. from New Hope
Baptist
Church in Greshamville with Rev. Mike Pritchett and Rev. Durell Rice
officiating. Interment was in the church
cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Burnette was born on August 14, 1945 in Grundy County, Virginia,

She was a homemaker and had lived most of her life in this area. She was of the Baptist faith.
