Annie
Lou Worden, age 87, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, GA,
passed
away Sunday, February 26, 2012, in Stonehenge Assisted Living in
Blairsville.
Mrs. Worden was born Sunday, February 15, 1925 in Blairsville, to the
late Lonzo Patton and the late Minnie
Abernathy Patton. She was
a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and also attended New Hope
Baptist
Church. Annie Lou worked for many years as a Dietary Worker in the
Union County
School System. Mrs. Worden was preceded in death by her first husband,
Everett
Lee in 1967, her second husband Albert Worden in 1995; sons, Paul Lee,
and
Dewey Lee, and brothers, Fred Patton, Thomas Lee Patton, Roy Patton,
and Clyde
Patton.
Annie
Lou will be missed by all who knew her, and especially her loving
family:
daughter and son-i9n-law, Judy and Howard Carver of Jasper, GA;
daughter, Karen
Weaver of Dalton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Bobby Little
of
Cumming, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Darlene Lee of Tunnell Hill, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Ned
and Kennie Lee of Texas; son and
daughter-in-law, Clyde and
Jodi Lee of Athens, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Chrissy
Lee of Blairsville; and daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Harold
Collins, also
of Blairsville; 22 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the
Chapel of
the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Wade Plott
and Rev. Chip Gribble officiating. Special music for the service was
presented
by Susie Phillips, Louise DeLong, and
Sarah Kelley.
Burial followed in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: David Carver, Brian Henderson, Shane
Lee,
James Weaver, Jake Lee, and Tommy Lee. Serving as honorary pallbearers:
Brady
Weaver, Jeremy Lee, Michael Little, and
J.R. Rasmey.
The
family
received friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Monday,
February
27, 2012 and Tuesday, February 28, 2012, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Mr.
Bobby Joe Elrod, age 75, of Colwell Rd, Blairsville, passed away
Sunday,
February 26, 2012 at Union General Hospital following an extended
illness. Mr.
Elrod was born May 30, 1936 in Copperhill, TN. He had lived her for the
past 10
years coming here from Copperhill, TN. He was a retired Railroad
Repairman with
Tennessee Chemical Co. Mr. Elrod was a loving father and enjoyed
watching
movies with his grandchildren. He was of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors
include children, Rose Elrod and her fiancé, Brent Massey of
Chattanooga,
Christopher and Rhonda Elrod of Chattanooga, and Brian and Amy Elrod of
Blue
Ridge, GA, grandchildren, John, Joseph, Aiden, Hope, Devin, Lexi,
Ambria and Braden.
Funeral
services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the
Mountain View
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Byers officiating. Interment
followed in
the Old Blairsville Cemetery. The family received friends at the
funeral home
Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.

Mrs.
Joan Frances Hughes age 61 of Salem Rd., Mineral Bluff formerly of
Blairsville
passed away on Sunday Feb. 26, 2012 at her home following an extended
illness.
Mrs. Hughes was born on March 29, 1950 in Bryson City, NC, the daughter
of the
late John F. Clampett and the late Ella M.
Higdon Clampett. Joan enjoyed listening to
music, gardening and
animals. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Hughes in
2009.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of Salem #2 Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Hughes are one daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Bill Carter
of
Mineral Bluff, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hardy and Betty Ledford
of
Topton, NC, Wayne and Debbie Postell of
Crossville,
TN, four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lelia
and
Jamie Ryan of Mineral Bluff, Linda Campbell of Blue Ridge, Jane and
David
Davenport of Blue Ridge, Judy and Ron Cook of Morganton, three
grandchildren,
Michael, Maella and Lukas Carter, several
nieces,
nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside
services were held on Tuesday Feb. 28, 2012 at 1 p.m. from the Salem #2
Baptist
Church Cemetery with the Rev. Norman Stewart officiating. The following
gentleman served as pallbearers, Marvin Hardin, Jeff Carter, Vern Loudermilk, Chuck Loudermilk,
Jamie Ryan and Wesley Cook. The family met with friends following the
services.

Mrs.
Daisy Rebecca Davis Yonts, age 89, of
Davis Drive, Suches passed away, Tuesday,
February 28, 2012 at her home
after a brief illness. She was born September 24, 1922 to the late Rev.
Willam Jackson and Rhoda Jane (Gilbert)
Davis. She was a life long resident of
Union and Fannin
Counties. Daisy loved quilting, cooking, baking and helping people in
the
community. She loved her Church and her God. She was preceded in death
by a
daughter, Judy Lakes, brothers William and Denver Davis, sisters, Ery Mason, Lillie Watts, Ruby Warren, and Mary
Moore, her
husband, Noah Lee Yonts in 2003. Daisy was
a member
of Coopers Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors
include daughters, Maxine and James Harkins of Suches,
Linda and Zyg Pawlak
of
Acworth, and Brenda and Robert Birdwell in Canton, MI, eleven
grandchildren,
twenty great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, several
nieces,
nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Mountain View
Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. George Burch and Chaplain Rochelle Moler
officiatating (sic). Music was by Janie and
Justin
Turner and Coopers Creek Baptist Church Choir. Pallbearers were Ray
Jennings,
Kenneth Pawlak, Steve Hernandez, Jimmy Herendon, David Herendon,
Ryan Pawlak, James Rosser and Junior
Cooper. Honorary
pallbearers were Louis Arthur, Justin Turner, Melvin Turner and Kevin
Bird.
Interment was in the Davis Family Cemetery.
The
family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5
until 9
p.m.

Mr.
Leo Joseph Weber, age 92, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012. He was
born
March 26, 1919 in Buffalo, NY to the late Otto and Monica Scheisser
Weber.
Captain
Weber served four and one-half years in the Air Transport Command
flying Bomber
Airplanes, equipment and men over the Atlantic Ocean to the front
lines. He
spent six months in Egypt and six months in Africa flying.
He
retired from Prudential Insurance Company. He was a member of St.
Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church.
He
enjoyed fishing, sailing, boating, square dancing, ballroom dancing,
wood
carving, and playing duplicate bridge.
Survivors
include his wife, Ruth Bladenspiel Weber,
daughter,
Sharon E. White and husband Robert White, and son, Leo J. Weber, Jr.
and wife,
Debby Hughes, and son, Michael H. Weber and wife, Patti Weber and eight
grandchildren, Roger W. White, Adam D. White, Vanessa A. White, Nathan
Weber,
Nicholas Weber, Michelle St. Clair, Julie Curin,
and
Christopher St. Clair, and five great grandchildren, and a sister,
Loretta Semrau.
Memorial
services will be held at a later date at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic
Church
on Hwy. 76.

Ms.
Susan Anita Muse, age 62, of Blue Ridge, Ga,
(sic)
formerly of Blairsville and Carrollton, GA, passed away on Friday,
March 2,
2012 at her home. Ms. Muse was born on April 7, 1949 in College Park,
GA, the
daughter of Eris Denney Muse and the late J. D. Muse. Susan was a
multi-talented artist and a caregiver to many. Susan was a member of
Stripling
Chapel United Methodist Church in Carrollton.
Surviving
Susan are her partner, Michael Surles of
Blairsville,
her mother, two sisters Phyllis Bickers (Doyle) of Auburn, AL and Cindy
Safier (Scott) of Carrollton, and two
nieces Jessie Wells
of Asheville, NC and Hannah Bingman
(Austen) of
Carrollton, and many other relatives.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the
family

Mrs.
Sarah "Dessie" Brown, age 83, of Zeno
Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following an extended
illness.
Mrs. Brown was born on June 1, 1928 in Dahlonega, GA, the daughter of
the late
Ollie Smith and the late Sallie Dowdy Smith. Dessie
was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and
great
grandmother (sic). Her life was her family, who she loved spending time
with. Dessie was a member of Oak Grove
Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Brown are her loving husband of sixty years, Vernon "Zeno" Brown
of Blairsville, six daughters and three sons-in-law, Joyce Foster of
Blairsville, Trudy and John Farabee of
Blairsville,
Brenda and Ronald Burns of Suches, Linda
Underwood of
Gainesville, Virginia Brown of Cleveland, GA, Jannie
and Lamar Underwood of Dahlonega, one son, Vernon Brown of Blairsville,
one
sister, Vernis Hughes of Dahlonega, twenty
grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, four great-great
grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Monday March 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain
View
Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. Special music was
presented by the
Voices of Calvary and Tammy Underwood. Dessie’s
grandsons served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Union Memory
Gardens
cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral home on Sunday
evening
from 5-8 p.m.
