Mr.
Wallace Glenn Mosley, Sr. age 73 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday,
March 3, 2000 following a period of declining health.
Mr.
Mosley was born in Pickens County, Georgia, on Friday, October 8, 1925, a son
of the late Charlie E. Mosley and Naomi Griffith Mosley. He was a retired pharmacist, having graduated
from the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy in 1950. Mr. Mosley had been living in Blairsville
since 1974, moving there from College Park, Georgia. He was a member and deacon of Choestoe
Baptist Church.
Survivors
include his wife of 50 years, Jo Dyer Mosley of Blairsville; daughter, Tonia
Albright of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Mac McGuire of
Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Wallace Glenn, Jr. and Ruth Mosley of
Newnan, Georgia; and son and daughter-in-law Steve and Glenda Mosley of
Asheville, NC; six grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, March 5, 2000 at 2:30 pm from Choestoe Baptist
Church with Rev. James Geer and Rev. Troy Acree officiating. Special music was presented by Jackie Hutson,
Barbara Geer and Terry Hooper. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Clyde Collins, R. Neal Collins,
Carroll Loper, Buddy Hunter, Mike Vaughn, and Stokely Martin. Interment was in Choestoe Cemetery. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, the family
suggests memorials be made to Choestoe Baptist Church Building Fund, 4455
Choestoe Church Road, Blairsville, GA 30512.

Mr.
Alfred Hughes, age 70, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 3,
2000 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr.
Hughes was born in Union County, Georgia on Friday, May 31, 1929 a son of the
late Felton Hughes and Roxie Bridges Hughes.
He was a lifelong resident of this area and was a carpenter. Mr. Hughes was a member of Youngstown Baptist
Church and the Independent Order of Oddfellows, Young Harris Lodge, #218 and
Felton A. Hughes, Grand Encampment Lodge #1.
He had been preceded in death by his parents, Felton and Roxie Hughes
and a sister, Edith Rich.
Survivors
include his wife, Mary Sue Deyton Hughes of Blairsville; daughters, Brenda
Davenport and Judy Everett, both of Blairsville; sons, Wayne, Troy, Randy and
Ricky Hughes, all of Blairsville; two sisters, Iva Potts and Louise Adams, both
of Blairsville; brother, Dennis Hughes of Blairsville; fourteen grandchildren
and five great grandchildren also survive, along with many nieces, nephews,
family and friends.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, March 5, 2000 at 2 pm from Zebulon Baptist Church
with Rev. Leon Henderson and Rev. Ray Potts officiating. Special music was presented by Leon
Henderson, Willaree Davenport, Ned Wilcoxin, Doris Hefner, and Kathy
Stephens. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers: Steve Davenport, Travis George, Jason Hughes, Darren Hughes,
Shane Everett, Michael Ayers, Pete Rotko, and Chris Ray. Interment was in Zebulon Baptist Church
Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by Young Harris Independent Order of
Oddfellows, Lodge #218.

Mr. Alton
I. Brown, age 80, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 3, 2000 in
Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Mr. Brown
was born Monday, June 30, 1919 in Alger County, Michigan, a son of the late
John and Amanda Brown. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Mr. Brown fought and was wounded in Anzio
Beachhead in Italy, for which he received a Purple Heart. He had been living in the Blairsville area
since 1980, coming here from Flint, Michigan.
Mr. Brown had been a member of Faith Baptist Church for the past twenty
years. He was a member of the VFW,
Hiawassee Post #7087 and AMVETS. Mr.
Brown was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by hour brothers, Bernard, Ben, Leonard and
Glen Brown.
Survivors
include his wife, Elda C. Brown of Blairsville; his daughter, Laurie Stewart of
Blairsville; two grandson, Rodrick and Ryan benedict; great grandson, Brendan
Benedict; many friends, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, March 7, 2000 at 1 pm from Faith Baptist Church
with Pastor James Brock officiating.
Specially selected music was presented by Mrs. Sandra Brock. Interment was in Holly Hill Veteran’s
Cemetery, with military honors presented by North Georgia Honor Guard.
