Mrs.
Patricia Ann
Dyer, age 70, of Trackrock Church Rd., Blairsville passed away on
Tuesday March
1, 2011 at her home following a brief illness. Mrs.
Dyer was born on Aug.25, 1940 in
Ridgeway, SC, the daughter of the late Monkton and Alberta Branham. She
had
worked as an Administrative Assistant with Gwinnett County Police
Department
for several years. She was a loving
wife, mother and grandmother. She was
always a giving and caring person. Patricia
was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Pete Branham. Mrs. Dyer was a member of Old Liberty Baptist
Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Dyer
are her loving husband of forty-eight years, Roger Allen Dyer of
Blairsville,
one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Keith Pitts of Lawrenceville, GA,
two sons
and daughters-in-law, Allen and LeeAnn Dyer of Monroe, GA, Jon and Pat
Dyer of
El Paso, TX, seven grandchildren, Brittney, Taylor, Tyler, Michael,
Austin,
Alex and Julianne, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were
held on Friday March 4, 2011 at 1 p.m. from the Old Liberty Baptist
Church with
the Rev. Harley Hunter and Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating. Special
music was
presented by the Old Liberty Church Choir and Michael Pitts. Mrs. Dyer lay in state at the church on Friday
from 12-1 p.m. The following gentleman
served as pallbearers, Sonny, Melvin and Kenneth Dyer, Doug Freeman,
Gene
Wilson and Michael Pitts. Serving as
honorary pallbearers were, A.J. Wimpey, Herbert Dyer, Eugene Cook, Troy
Collins, Gary Harkins and Danny Stephens. Flowers
are accepted or in lieu of flowers if
you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Old Liberty
Baptist
Church or to Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery fund in memory of Mrs.
Dyer.
The family met with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening 5-8
p.m.

Mr.
Gordon Blueford
Dyer, age 71, of Pat Haralson Drive, Blairsville, passed away on
Wednesday,
March 2, 2011 in the Union General Hospital following an extended
illness. Mr. Dyer was born on April
18,1939 in Union
County, the son of the late Vernon Dyer and the late Pauline Watkins
Dyer. Gordon was a veteran of the US
National Guard.
He had retired from the US Postal
Service with over thirty-five years of service. He was a member of the
American
Legion and also Young Cane Masonic Lodge F&AM. Gordon enjoyed
fishing and
playing poker. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Jerry Frances Dyer, three brothers, Newton, Ralph and
Robert Dyer.
Mr. Dyer was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving
Mr. Dyer
are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian and Andrea Dyer of
Lawrenceville,
GA, Greg Dyer of Atlanta, one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Sara
Dyer of
Blairsville, two grandchildren, Eli Dyer and Alden Dyer, many other
relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were
held on Saturday March 5, 2011 at 11
a.m. from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Keith Jones
officiating. Military Honors were
conducted by the North GA Honor Guard. The
family met with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8
p.m.

Mr.
Thomas Clyde Lee,
age 81, of Murphy Hwy., Blairsville, passed away on Thursday March 3,
2011 in
the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Lee was born on Oct. 27, 1929 in
Douglasville, GA, the son of the late Dan W. Lee and the late Clara
Evans Lee. He was a veteran of the US
Army. He was a member of the American
Legion of East
Point, GA. Thomas was preceded in death
by his wife, Ruby Mae Pitts Lee in 2004 and by two brothers, James and
Johnny
Lee. He was a loving father, brother,
grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr.
Lee was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving
Mr. Lee
are one son, John Michael "Mike" Lee of West Chester, OH, four
brothers, Frank Lee of Blue Ridge, Mack Lee of Atlanta, Ronnie Lee of
Lula, GA,
Gene Lee of Raleigh, NC, one sister, Mary Gardner of Charleston, SC,
two
grandchildren, Richard Christopher and Erin (Sullivan) Lee of Fairfax,
VA,
Joshua Matthew Lee of West Chester, OH, two great-grandchildren,
Nicholas and
Patrick Lee, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service was
held on Monday March 7, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Mountain View Chapel
with the
Rev. George Cline officiating. Military
Honors were conducted by the North GA Honor Guard. Interment
followed in the Holly Hill Cemetery
in Fairburn, GA. The family met with
friends at the funeral home on Monday from 9-10 a.m. prior to the
services.

Mary Jo
Cherry, age
95, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday evening, February 28, 2011,
at her
home. Ms. Cherry was born in Hayesville,
NC, on Sunday, October 10, 1915, a daughter of the late James Claude
Cherry and
Corine Palmer Cherry, and had lived there and in the surrounding areas
for all
of her life. She attended Hayesville
Church of God.
She will
be lovingly
remembered and is survived by her children, Mary Ruth and David
Abercrombie, of
Blairsville; and Jack and Betty Buckner, of Cleveland, TN;
grandchildren:
Kenneth and Kelley Blevins, Michael and Tracy Abercrombie, Andrea and
Richard
Smith, Stacy and Jim Dunn, Ashley and Rick Jerin; great grandchildren:
Steven,
Melanie and Amelia Blevins; Violet Burger; Megan, Brady and Micalela
Abercrombie; Zackery Holton; Simon and David Dunn; and Lucy Ann Jerin.
Graveside
services were
held on for Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 2 p.m., at Hayesville
Baptist-Presbyterian Cemetery, with Rev. Luther Thomas officiating. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Kenny Blevins, Michael Abercrombie, Steven Blevins, Zack Holton, Jeramy
Seabolt, and Jesse Holton.
