Mr.
William
H. “Billy” Dent, age 64, of 1110 Blue Ridge Hay. Blairsville, GA.
formerly of
Warner Robins, passed away Monday, March 3,
1997. Mr. Dent was born in Peach County. He was a retired civil service RAFB, and
veteran of the Navy-Korea. He was also a
member of Fort Valley Presbyterian Church.
Survivors
are his wife, Patricia W. Dent of Blairsville;
sons, Dr.. Jeffrey J. Dent of Augusta,
William H.
Dent, Jr. of Fayetteville, and Joseph W. Dent of Albany; brothers and
sisters,
Gloria Jean Johnson of Byron, Roy Dent of Powersville, Annis Champion,
Wilder
Dent and Pat Tresco of Fort Valley, Bobby Dent of Jacksonville, FL.,
and Edward
Dent of Daytona Beach, FL.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, March 5, 1997. Rev. Travis Adams
officiated. Interment was in the Oaklawn
Cemetery of Fort
Valley. Family may be contacted at the
home of Wilder Dent, 439 Old Macon Road, Fort
Valley.

Mrs. Eula
Mae Brewer, age 71,of 1290 Bradford Street,
Gainesville GA, passed away Monday, March 3 at Northeast Georgia
Medical Center
following an extended illness. Mrs.
Brewer was a native of Union County, but had lived in Hall County for a
number
of years. She was a member of the
Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors
are her husband, Mr. William F. Brewer of
Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Ronnie Morris of
Gainesville;
sister, Blanche Nix of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis
and Opal
Hamby of Blairsville; granddaughter, Amy Morris of Gainesville.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, March 5, 1997 in the chapel of memorial
Park
Funeral Home. The Rev. Fulton Boswell
and Rev. Grady Carpenter officiated. Interment
was in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs.
Bonnie Plott , age 82, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed
away Tuesday, March 4, 1997 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mrs.
Plott was born in Union County, Georgia on September
25, 1914, a daughter of the late Willie D. Hutson and Iva Teague Hutson. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident
of this area. Mrs. Plott
was a member of Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church. Her husband, Ed Plott,
passed away in 1983.
Surviving
are sons, Swayne Plott,
of Texas and Ervin Plott of Blairsville; brothers, C.R.
Hutson
and Arthur Hutson, both of Marietta; sister, Hazel Dillinger, of
Blairsville;
nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, March 6, 1997 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Towery, Jr. and Rev. Horace Potts
officiating. Special music was presented
by Susie
Phillips, Louise Delong, and Sarah Kelley.

Mr.
Hubert
H. Gilreath, age 67, of Riceville, Tennessee, formerly of Suches,
passed away Wednesday,
March 5, 1997 in National Health Care Hospital in Athens, TN.
Mr.
Gilreath was born in Union County, Georgia, on August 19,1929, a son of the late Joseph Herschel Gilreath
and Murphy
Jane Shope Gilreath. He was a veteran of
the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
He lived most
of his life in this area, and was a member of Corinth Baptist church
(sic).
Surviving
are son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Linda Gilreath, of Riceville,
TN.; son
and daughter-in-law Greg and Stacy Gilreath, of Morganton, GA.;
brothers,
Herschel Gilreath of Morganton, Ralph Gilreath of Blairsville; Rufus
Gilreath
of Canton, Ohio, and Eugene Gilreath of Suches, GA.; grandsons, Adam
and grant
Gilreath, both of Riceville.
Funeral
services were held Friday, March 7, 1997 at 11 a.m. from Corinth
Baptist Church
with Rev. Horace Potts and Rev. Willis Garrett officiating. Special music was presented by Steve and
Patricia Odom. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers: Harley Harkins, Clyde Harkins, Harold Parker,
Terry
Grizzle, Archie Farmer and Brad Smith.

Mrs.
Myrtice
Walter Clark, age 80, of 3026 Ellenton-Norman Park Road, Norman Park,
Georgia
(formerly of Blairsville) passed away Tuesday, March 4 at Tallahassee
memorial
Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Daughter of
the late Sarah Meacy Pope and the late Jessie Andrew Pope, Mrs. Clark
was born
February 23, 1917 in Colquitt county. She was a member of Cool Springs Freewill
Baptist Church.
Survivors include
her husband, Charles S. Clark, of Norman Park; a son, Buddy Sheffield,
of
Norman Park; a daughter, JoAnn Sheffield Schilling, of Young Harris; a
brother,
J.A. Pope, of Norman Park; a sister, Thelma Pope Stewart of Norman
Park; five
stepchildren, Lonny Clark, of Lakeland, FL., Duey Clark, of Buford,
S.C., Pam
Clark of Tampa, FL., and Myra Erwin and Joy Milligan, both of Ft.
Worth, Texas;
26 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosa
Meacy Cox.
Mrs. Clark
was a volunteer with Colquitt Regional Medical Center and Hospice. She completed her nurse training at Warren A.
Chandler in Savannah. Her nursing career
spanned 48 years. She worked for many
years as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital and as
a
private duty nurse at Palm Beach County, Florida at Johns Hopkins
Hospital and
City Hospital in Baltimore, MD. and under
Dr. DeBakey
in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Clark
was a resident of Blairsville from 1972 until 1986.
She was instrumental in establishing Union
County Nursing Home and served as Director of Nursing of the facility
from
opening date in 1974 until her retirement.
Mrs. Clark was much loved by the staff and residents.
Services
were held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 7, at Cook Springs Freewill Baptist
Church
with the Rev. Steve Hughes officiating. Burial
was in Cool Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Jessie Pope, Joseph Pope, James Pope, Lonny Clark, Jeffrey Pope,
Alan Cox,
Kevin Schilling and Duey Clark.

Mrs.
Estlene Beaver Lunsford , age 80, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Tuesday,
March 4, 1997 at her home.
Mrs.
Lunsford was born in Cherokee County, North Carolina on
August 15, 1909, a daughter of the late Henry Smith and Charlotte Moss
Smith. She was a homemaker and had lived
most of her life in this area. Mrs.
Lunsford was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She
was preceded in death by her first
husband, Mr. John beaver, in 1959, and her second husband, Mr. Clifton
Lunsford, in 1974.
Surviving
are sons, Cecil Beaver and Calvin Beaver, both of Blairsville, Claude
Beaver of
Mableton, GA., Grady Beaver of Morganton, GA., and Eddy Beaver of
Ellijay, GA.;
daughters, Corene Elliott of Blairsville; Grovie Cole of Smyrna, GA.,
and
Myrtle Walsh of Murphy, N.C.; 23 grandchildren and 17 great
grandchildren and
several great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, March 7, 1997 at 2 p.m. from Mt. Olivet
Baptist
Church with Rev. Ray Harper and Rev. Avery Beaver officiating. Special music was presented by Nita Foster
and Ken and Elaine Young. Interment was
in the church cemetery.
