Mrs.
Irene Gibson Collins Vandiver, age 86, of Mt. Pleasant Church Rd.,
Cleveland,
GA, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009 in
the
Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville following an extended illness. Mrs. Vandiver was born on Feb. 14, 1923 in
Clay County, NC, the daughter of the late Turner Rush Gibson and the
late Lena
Jane Hunter Gibson. Mrs. Vandiver was a
lifelong resident of Union County. She
was known at Branan Lodge as the Flower Lady.
Besides growing flowers she loved to quilt.
She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother,
great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Mrs. Vandiver was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Vandiver are sons and daughters-in-law and daughters and sons-in-law,
Gene and
Retha Collins of Cleveland, GA, Loyd and Doris Collins of Blairsville,
Vietta
Mae and Wayne Dyer of Blairsville, Clyde Vandiver of Clarksville,
Carolyn and
John Corn of Toccoa, Glenda and Reggie flowers of Gainesville, Leroy
and Joyce
Vandiver of Gainesville, Marie and Don Collins of Blairsville, brothers

sisters-in-law and sister, Jack and Mary Gibson of Blairsville, Opal
Dyer of
Blairsville, Terry and Becky Gibson of Hiawassee, V.C. and June McClure
of
Hiawassee, twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren,
ten
great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other
relatives and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 2 PM from the Old
Liberty
Baptist Church with the Rev. Harley Hunter, Rev. Kenneth Pilcher and
Rev. Kevin
Collins officiating. The
body lay in state from 1-2 PM at the
church. Special music was presented by the
Old Liberty Church Choir. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers, Kevin Collins, Casey, Jimmy, Michael
and Tim
Vandiver and Christopher Flowers.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Tommy and Mark Vandiver,
Jeffery
Flowers, Danny and Robert Dyer. Interment
followed in the church cemetery.

Agnes Koerber, age 78, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale,
FL, passed
away Monday, March 9, 2009 at her home.
Mrs. Koerber was born Tuesday, February 24, 1931 in Baltimore
Co., MD to
the late Walter Stephen Eichelberger land the late Marie Eichelberger. She attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic
Church.
Survivors
include: husband, Ron Koerber of Blairsville, GA,

of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Richard Wise officiating. Music was provided by Ron Gaucher.

Mrs.
Jimmye
Riley Snow, age 106, of Blairsville, formerly of Murphy, NC and Macon,
GA passed
away on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 in the Union General Hospital
following an
extended illness. Mrs. Snow was born on
Dec. 19, 1902 in Arlington, GA, the daughter of the late Leslie Riley
and the
late Lillian Carter Riley. Jimmye was
the former National Officer of the D.A.R.
She was very proud of her heritage.
She was the former owner of two funeral homes, Snow’s Memorial
Chapels
in Macon, and had also owned Parkview Hospital.
She owned a chain of dry cleaners, Snow White Laundries. Also in her possession were two islands,
Useppa Island and Snow Patterson Island.
Jimmye had taken classes at the age of 80 at Mercer University. She was known in the Macon area as “Miss
Jimmye”. She was preceded in death by
two husband, Robert N. Perkins and William A. Snow, a son, Sydney
Hillman
Perkins, four sisters, Lillian, Wolledith, Louise and Rea.
Mrs. Snow was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs.
Snow are a daughter-in-law, Marjorie B. Perkins of Murphy, one
daughter, Sarah
Adams of Fredricksburg, VA, seven grandchildren, Leslie Fender, Anne
Suit, Ted Perkins,
Jill Ritten, Jimmye Prescott, Linn Maulix and Albert Marshall Prescott,
ten
great grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsey, Robert, Michael, Tiffany,
Jessica, Chase,
Zachary, Daniel, Amanda and Tyler, eight great great grandchildren,
Dalton,
Madison, Lexi, Shaun, Mercedes, Jake, Mason and Daisy, several nieces,
nephews,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
memorials may be made to the Union County Humane Society in memory of
Mrs.
Snow.

Mr.
Hayden Tipton, age 72, of Hicks Gap Rd., Blairsville passed away on
Saturday,
March 14, 2009 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Tipton was born on May 22, 1935 in Fannin
County, the son of the late Fred Tipton and the late Florence Head
Tipton. He was a lifelong resident of
Union and
Fannin Counties. Hayden was a member of
Ocoee Masonic Lodge F&AM. He was an
avid fisherman and camper. He enjoyed
gardening and being outdoors. He was a
loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Mr.
Tipton was of the Baptist faith.

Tipton are his loving wife of forty-five years, Pauline Grizzle Tipton
of
Blairsville, three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Vick Payne,

and Eric Stites, Glenda and Kevin Mollohan all of Blairsville, brothers

was born Friday, April 6, 1928 in Union County, GA,
to the late Jessie Victor King and the late Vinie Plott King. He was a member of Allegheny Lodge #114
F&AM and a WWII Army Veteran. He was
preceded in death by wife, Rosa Everett King and sister, Christine
Griggs,
brothers, Brown and Cliff King.

Mr.
Dana Michael (Better known as Mike) Taylor, age 61, of N. Ft. Myers, FL
and
also of Loving Rd., Blairsville passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009
at his
home following a brief illness. Mr.
Taylor was born on Sept. 18, 1947 in Free Port, FL, the son of the late
Clifford Taylor and the late June McCrossin Taylor.
He was a veteran of the US Navy of the
Vietnam War. He was a loving husband and
father. Mr. Taylor was of the Catholic
faith.

Taylor are his loving wife of nineteen
years, Pauline Champion
Taylor of N. Ft. Myers, FL. And Blairsville, one daughter, Brittany
Taylor of N.
