REEDA FAY KELLEY

        Mrs. Reeda Fay Kelley, age 54, of Wilson Road, Blairsville passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at her home following an extended illness. She was born September, 27, 1958 in Copperhill, TN to the late C.A. and Bertha Duckworth Holbrooks. Reeda Fay was a great mom and took pride in raising her children. She was a laid down lover of Christ. She was preceded in death by sisters, Eva Nell Smith and Barbara Ellen Holbrooks, brothers, Calvin Holbrooks and Roy Edward Holbrooks, niece, Stephanie Sharrock, adopted grandfather, Bob Chapin. Reeda Fay was a member of House of Prayer Church.
        Survivors include her loving husband of 31 years, Garry Kelley of Blairsville, children, Miranda and Jordan Keough of Dahlonega, Laura Kelley, Leah Kelley, Drea Kelley, Joel Kelley and Jill Kelley all of Blairsville, sisters, Leona Hunter of Blairsville, Joyce and Herbert Teague of Blairsville, Phyllis and Melvin Fuller of Lawrenceville, Lavada and Herman Cheek of Blairsville, brothers, Quinton and Wanda Holbrooks of Blairsville and Ted Holbrooks of Blairsville, adopted grandmother, Dee Chapin of Blairsville, grandchildren, Addison Keough and Emma Keough.
        Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the House of Prayer Church with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Music was by Scott and Tammy Lance and Kim Thomas. Pallbearers were Joseph Teague, Barry Kelley, Nick Chapman, Caleb Kelley, Mitch Bowling and Seth Kelley. Interment followed in the Kelley Family Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that you may make memorial donations to Canal Lake Bible Camp in memory of Mrs. Kelley. The family received friends Wednesday evening at the House of Prayer Church after 6 p.m.

MARY OVALEE COOK MURPHY

        Mrs. Mary Ovalee Cook Murphy, age 76, of Cleveland Street, Blairsville passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at her home following an extended illness. She was born July 11, 1936 in Union County to the late Will and Ethel Deyton Queen. She loved to camp and fish and loved her faithful pet (her dog Charlie). She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her late husbands, William Edward Cook, Sr. and Raymond Brance Murphy.
        She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially by her family who loved her: daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Gary Beavers, son and daughter-in-law, Junior and Betty Cook, son, Jerry Cook, daughter, Sandra Seabolt all of Blairsville, GA, sister, Ella Mae Cook of Sugar Hill, GA, sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Robert Brown of Dallas, GA, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
        Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Waymon Lovell and Rev. Charles Abernathy officiating. Special music was presented by Angie Burrell, and Amy Tatum. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Andy Thacker, Jason Seabolt, Eric Seabolt, Bryan Burrell, Thomas Grissom, Michael Beavers. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Monkes, Clifford Cook and Shannon Queen. Interment followed in Confidence United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.

        Mrs. Verdie G. Miles, age 90, of Critter Haven Drive, Blairsville, formerly of  Ringold, GA, passed away at her home on Friday, March 15, 2013 following an extended illness with daughter, June and granddaughter, Brooke at her bedside. She was born August 14, 1922 in Rock Bluff, FL to the late Will and Susie Howell Goodson. She loved Cooking, and never met a stranger. Mrs. Miles was a supportive wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Lee E. Miles in 2007, two brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Miles was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Ringold, GA.
        Survivors include three children, June Caldwell of Blairsville, GA, Deborah Lundy of Sunnyville, TX and Larry Miles of Lindale, TX, eight grandchildren, Brooke, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Jason, Stephen, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Rachel, three great grandchildren, Story, Abigail and Eliana.
        Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2013 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. George Cline officiating. Music was by June Caldwell and Brooke Caldwell. Pallbearers were Robert Hill, Harrison Bradley, Jeffrey Sorensen, Jonathan Sorensen, Jason Sorensen and Jonathan Lodge. Interment was in Mt. Vernon Methodist Cemetery in Laurel, MS. In lieu of flowers make memorial contributions to Antioch Baptist Church in Mrs. Miles memory. The family received friends at the church on Monday from 10 until 11 a.m.

COMER EDWARD SAXON

    The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Comer Edward Saxon, age 98 who passed away at his home on March 12, 2013 following an extended illness.
    Comer was born in Blairsville, GA on October 12, 1914 to the late Bennett and Ella Hood Saxon. He was a life long resident of Union County. Following the death of his parents when he was ten years old, he was raised by his maternal grandmother, Wilda Roper Hood, a certified and well-respected midwife in this area during the 1930's and 40's. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Lydia Elizabeth Nix Saxon; brother, Vaughn Calvin Saxon and sister, Ethelene Saxon Dyer.
    At the age of ten, his Uncle, Lester Hood, taught him the cords on a banjo and from that moment on he was hooked on Bluegrass music. He learned to play a mean banjo and he and his brother, Vaughn, once competed in a contest on WNOX in Knoxville, TN where they came in second place. He was a trucker for many years, but his lifelong dream was to be a merchant. He finally realized that dream when he bought Saxon's Sunrise Grocery, which he owned & operated for several years. After retiring, he ran Appalachian Antiques for a number of years where he and his wife, Lydia, spent many happy hours "antiquing" and going to auctions to buy for the store.
    He is Survived by two sons: Olen Bennett Saxon of Moriarty, NM; Dean Saxon & his fiancÚ, Patti MacLean of Blairsville; two daughters, Betty Louise Saxon Hopkins of Alpharetta, GA and Brenda Saxon Morgan and her husband, Jerry of Gainesville, GA; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jan Devereaux officiating. Burial followed in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Russell Scenic Hwy. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Dean Saxon, Derek Saxon, Ed Saxon, Stacy Hopkins, Jamie Burnette and Jerry Morgan. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 pm.

ROGER J. CHAMBERS

        Mr. Roger J. Chambers, age 83, of Blue Ridge, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Chambers was born November 21, 1929 in Blairsville, GA to the late Calvin and Myrtle Jordan Chambers. A member of the Shirley Hills Baptist Church in Warner Robins, GA, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ray and Jay Chambers of Morganton, Cecil Chambers of Lawrenceville, GA and Jerry Chambers of Eatonton, GA, and sisters, Marie Burnette of Jesup, GA and Audrey Sheffield of Tampa, Fl also an infant sister. Roger enjoyed fishing in his spare time and he worked for 36 years in civil service for the federal government with the department of defense.
        Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Frances Bass Chambers of the home, son, Greg (Tina) Chambers of Jasper, GA, daughter, Cathy Roderick of Dahlonega, GA, brother, Earl Chambers of Morganton, sister, Retha Overstreet of Blairsville, sister, Ella Gerean of Pensa Cola, (sic) Fl., brother, Winston Chambers of Blairsville, four grandchildren, Clint Chambers, Lexi Chambers, of Jasper (sic) Eric Roderick, Paige Mitcham, of Dahlonega, five great grandchildren, Dane Roderick, Brock Roderick, Chloe Roderick, Alison Mitcham, and Landen Mitcham all of Dahlonega. Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive.
        Funeral services were held Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Beck officiating. Music provided by Robert Bass, Leroy Fox and Peggy Chambers. Interment followed in Chastain Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Richard Chambers, Eric Rodenick, Greg Chambers, Josh Mitcham, Jeff Dunlap and Leroy Fox.

        Dale Richard “Ricky” Gee, age 58, of Murphy Hwy, Blairsville passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at his home following an extended illness. He was born July 16, 1954 in Gainesville, GA to the late Henry Lee and Cecilia Cleghorn Gee. He had lived here for the past 16 years. Ricky was a loving and caring person who loved helping people in need and especially loved his Lord. He was of the Church of God faith.
        Survivors include his wife, Brenda Gee of Blairsville, GA, son, Shawn and Karla Gee of Myrtle Beach, SC, step-children, Calvin Patton of Blairsville, Teresa Patton of Blairsville, Randy Patton of Morganton, GA, brother, Michael and Kathy Gee of Gainesville, GA, nieces, Leigh Ann and Dennis Cox of Pendergrass, GA, Milissa Lee of Pendergrass, GA, Chris and Wendy Looney of Gainesville, GA, grandchildren, David Bell, Paige Patton, James Patton, Levi Patton and Savannah Grace Patton.
        Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Interment was in Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville. WESLEY CONRAD EIFERT

        Mr. Wesley Conrad Eifert age 96 of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2013 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Wesley was born on August 23, 1916 in Keystone Park, FL, the son of the late Henry Eifert and the late Cordelia Gibson Eifert. He was a veteran of the US Navy of WWII and also of the Korean War. Wesley loved to play pool, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Susan Lemons and Donna Fry, four brothers, Wilbur, Frank, Raymond and Dettmere and two sisters, Marion Eifert and Evelyn Gibson. Mr. Eifert was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
        Surviving Mr. Eifert are his loving wife of forty-nine years, Yvonne Eifert of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Carol Eifert Jr. of Vacaville, CA, two daughters and three sons-in-law, Gale and Ted Barber of Murphy, Laurna and John Perkins of Murphy, Ed Fry of Marble, NC, thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
        Graveside services will be held on Thursday March 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Peachtree Community Cemetery with the Rev. George Cline officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Wesley Eifert Jr., Ted Barber, Eddy Fry, Sam, David and John Stevens.
