Mr. Any
Pickelsimer, age 102, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday,
March 16,
1996 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr.
Pickelsimer was born on in Fannin County, Georgia, on
November 19, 1893, a son of the late George Pickelsimer and Mary Hughes
Pickelsimer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran
of World War I, and had been a farmer.
Mr. Pickelsimer was a lifelong resident of this area and was of
the
Baptist faith. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Warren Pickelsimer, in 1981.
Surviving
are sons, Estle Pickelsimer, Elmer Pickelsimer, Earl Pickelsimer, and
Arlin
Pickelsimer, all of Blairsville; daughters, Bertie Davis, of
Murrayville,
Georgia and Niner Snedegar, of Blairsville; sixteen grandchildren and
many
great grandchildren and great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, March 18, 1996 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Willis Garrett and Rev. Horace
Potts officiating. Special music was
presented by Ken and Elaine
Young. Members of North Georgia Honor
Guard served as pallbearers, and also presented military honors. Interment was in Harmony Grove Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mr.
Luther
Reed, 86, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 1996
in
Ridgecrest Hospital in Clayton, Georgia.
Mr. Reed
was born in Union County, Georgia, on October 8,
1909, a son of the late Levi Reed and Julia Brown Reed.
He was a lifelong resident of Union County,
and worked with TVA during the construction of Lake Nottley and the
Nottley
Dam. During World War II, he was
employed with Bell Aircraft. Mr. Reed
retired in 1972, from Richards and Associates, following twenty five
years of service. For nineteen years, Mr.
Reed was a volunteer
with the Union County Nursing Home and The Union General Hospital
Auxiliary. He attended First United
Methodist Church of Union County.
Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Mary Lou Erwin Reed, of Blairsville; daughter,
Evelyn Reed
Panter, of Smyrna, and a son, Ed Reed, of Conyers, Georgia; sister,
Emma Reed
of Hiawassee, Georgia; and grandson, Mark Reed of Conyers.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, March 14, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of the
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Dr. Robert Darby officiating. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Ray Rogers, Milton Bradley, Tommy Flanagan, Herbert Dyer,
Danny
Reed, and Randall Adams. Members of
Union General Hospital Auxiliary served as honorary escort to the
family. Interment was in Zion Methodist
Cemetery. If you wish, memorials may be
made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 859 Hwy. 515, Blairsville, Georgia.
