mr. harold clyde fair

 

Mr. Harold Clyde Fair, age 68 of Pleasant Hill Rd., Blairsville formerly of Athens, GA., passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following a brief illness.  Mr. Fair was born on Feb. 25, 1938 in Union County, the son of the late Lloyd Fair and the late Minnie Conley Fair.  He was a Veteran of the US Army.  He was a native of Union County and had lived in Athens, GA for over forty years before moving back to Blairsville.  Mr. Fair was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Fair are one sister, Frances parting of Blairsville, three brothers and sister-in-laws, Cecil and Yvonne Fair of Blairsville, Joe and Evelyn Fair of Blairsville, Tommy and Christine Fair of Athens, GA, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held on Thursday march 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery with the rev. B.A. Buchanan officiating.  IN lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery fund in Mr. Fair’s memory.

mr. roy willie bingham

 

Mr. Roy Willie Bingham, age 88 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at Union County Nursing Home.  Mr. Bingham was born Monday, October 15, 1917 in Union County, GA to the late Jim and Maggie (Anderson) Bingham.  Mr. Bingham was a member of Dooley Masonic Lodge F&AM #367, and Nottley Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star.  He was preceded in death by wife, Dovie (Towe) Bingham; and daughters, Ellen Moore and Dovie Dyer.

Survivors include: daughter, Blanche Patterson of Blairsville; daughter, Mary Holbrook of Blairsville; daughter, Sarah Anderson of Blairsville; daughter, Betty Brewer of Blairsville; daughter, Bonnie Tolliver of Blairsville; daughter, Diane Simmons of Cleveland, GA; son, Roy L. Bingham of Blairsville; son, Joe Bingham of Hiawassee Dam, NC; son, Tony Bingham of North Carolina; sister, Ruby King of Acworth, GA, brother jasper Bingham of Canton, GA; sixteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the rev. Tony Abbott and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.  Music was provided by Charlotte Garrett, Teresa Wehunt, Jimmy Kyle and Hubert Moss.  Interment was in Providence Methodist Church Cemetery, with Masonic Graveside Rites provided by Allegheny Masonic Lodge F&AM #114.  Pallbearers were Jack Moore, Keith Donaldson, Dwayne Patterson, Albert Garrett, Jay Lynch, and Jacob Lynch.

mrs. betty b. felzerr

 

Mrs. Betty B. Felzer, age 86, of Old Embers Ridge, Blairsville, formerly of Holiday, FL, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2006 at the home of her daughter following an extended illness.  Mrs. Felzer was born on Feb. 20, 1920 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of the late Joseph K. Toth and the late Elizabeth Spisak Toth.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Manzel Felzer in 1995 and by a son, James Felzer in 2004.  She was a member of the ladies Guild.  Mrs. Felzer was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Holiday, FL where she loved playing the organ and singing in the choir.

Surviving Mrs. Felzer are four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Charles Michael of Blairsville, Helen and Charles Boldman of Dunnellon, FL, Kathleen and Chuck Dolan of Spring Hill, FL, Ruth Ann and Michael Bode of Bonita Springs, FL; two sons, Joseph and Manzel Felzer both of Glendale, AZ, a daughter-in-law, Norene Felzer of Columbus, OH; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 10 a.m. from the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic church in Holiday, FL, with Father Robert Chabot officiating.  Interment followed in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

mr. george andrew toth

 

Mr. George Andrew Toth, age 87 of lakeside Drive, Blairsville passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mr. Toth was born on July 20, 1918 in Cleveland, OH, the son of the late George Toth and the late Rose Faban Toth.  He was a veteran of the US Army of WWII.  He was a member of the US Army Reserves, the VFW, the American Legion, the Retired Officers Assoc., Woodmen of the World.  He was a member and was the Founder of the Knights of Columbus of Blairsville.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Eles Toth and by his second wife, Rita Ronning Toth.  Mr. Toth was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Surviving Mr. Toth are two sons and one daughter-in-law, George and Debi Toth of Gastonia, NC, Gary Toth of Randleman, NC, step son, Joe Ronning of NY, one grandson, Michael Toth of Greensboro, NC, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 10 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Richard Wise officiating.  Special music was presented by Bob and Jean Hiler.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Charlie Gluodenis, Mel Prime, Ed Combs, Charlie Brown, Joe O’Brien and Walt Shumway.  Military honors were conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.  Interment and graveside services were held on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 9 a.m. from the Elm Lawn cemetery in Kenmore, NY.

mrs. christine v. schmidt

 

Mrs. Christine V. Schmidt, age 93 of Canterbury Trail, Blairsville formerly of Winter park, FL, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Schmidt was born on Dec. 12, 1912 in Glenville, GA, the daughter of the late James Swindell and the late Mary DeLoach Swindell.  She was preceded in death by her husband Kurt Max Schmidt Sr. in 1986, two sisters, Blanche May, Euna Mae Purvis, three brothers, Doyle, Royce and Adron Swindell.  Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Orlando, FL and attended the Antioch Baptist Church in Blairsville.

Surviving Mrs. Schmidt are one son and daughter-in-law, Kurt M. and Rebecca Schmidt of Blairsville, one sister, Mary Elaine Lloyd of Tavares, FL, two grandchildren, Kris Schmidt of Willobee, OH, Monica martin of Albany, GA, two great-grandchildren, Dallas and Austin Martin, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Orlando, FL.  Interment followed in the Glen Haven memorial park Cemetery in Winterpark, FL.  Visitation was held on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at the American Family of Funerals of Orlando.
