mrs. lois donaldson

 

Mrs. Lois Donaldson, age 88, of Sullivan Trail, Blairsville passed away on Friday, March 18, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mrs. Donaldson was born on August 31, 1916 in Hodge, LA, the daughter of the late George Stevenson and the late Susie Clark Stevenson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Donaldson.  Mrs. Donaldson was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church.

Surviving Mrs. Donaldson are one son, David Donaldson of LA, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Alicia and Richard Cramer of Blairsville, Denon and Winfield Scott of Blairsville, Tana Gray of Harding Township, NJ, one sister, Geraldine Jones of Geneva on the Lake, OH, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 10 a.m. from the Antioch Presbyterian Church in Quitman, LA, with the Rev. Jimmy Pyles officiating.  Special music was presented by the church choir.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Freddy and Claude Turner, Sammy Carter, Donny Defreese, Monty Hinton and Red Stuart.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

mrs. robin elliott wehunt holder

 

Mrs. Robin Elliott Wehunt Holder, age 43, of Blairsville, formerly of McCaysville passed away on Wednesday, march 16, 2005 in the Erlanger Medical Center following a brief illness.  Mrs. Holder was born on May 6, 1961 in Copperhill, TN, the daughter of Slim Elliott and the late Georgia Elliott.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Elliott in 1989.  Mrs. Holder was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Holder are loving husband of sixteen years, Jeff Holder of Blairsville, son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Barbara Wehunt of Hiawassee, son, Matthew Wehunt of Cumming, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Roy Guffey of Hayesville, father, Fieldon Elliott of Hiawassee, three sisters Crisenda Gunter of Murphy, Melissa Hughes of FL, Tammy Elliott of FL, five brothers, Ricky Elliott of Blairsville, David Elliott of Blue Ridge, Terry Elliott of IN, Donald Elliott of Murphy and Freeman Elliott of GA, four grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Davenport officiating.  Special music was presented by the Faith Singers.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Jimmy and Richard Metzdorf, Michael Colwell, Nathaniel Hooper, Jamey Cook and Larry Patterson.  Interment followed in the Shady Grove Baptist Cemetery.

Martha Lee Wright Gowder, age 71, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005 in Gainesville, GA.

Martha was born Sunday, June 4, 1933 in Hall County, GA to the late A.D. Wright and the late Miriam Newbury Wright.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam (Tubby) Robinson.

Survivors include: husband, Dr. George D. Gowder, Jr. of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Phil Patton of Blairsville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Lou and Jim Harkins of Blairsville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. David and Lita Gowder of Blairsville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Mike and Gail Gowder of Blairsville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Joel Huggins of Blairsville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Bill and Becky Gowder of Kissimmee, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Stephen Gooch of Blairsville, GA; 22 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. A.D. and Florence Wright of Gainesville, GA; sister, Betty Ann Golden of Lake Burton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. J.R. and Tommye Wright of Gainesville, GA; brother, Jackie Wright of Clayton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Perry and Carolyn Wright of Huntsville, AL; several nieces nephews and special friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 20, 2005 at 3 p.m. from House of Prayer with the Rev. Jerry Helton, Pastor Bill Gowder and Rev. B.A. Buchanan officiating.  Music was provided by Nelson and Mildred LeCroy.  Interment followed in House of Prayer Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Jedd Campbell, Clay Campbell, Casey Campbell, Brad Gowder, Blake Gowder, Jeramy Huggins, Cody Huggins, Joshua Huggins and Patrick Gooch.

mr. pat hughes

 

Mr. Pat Hughes, age 74, of Blairsville, GA passed away Thursday, march 17, 2005 at his home.

Mr. Hughes had worked installing siding.  He was a member and deacon of Youngstown Baptist Church.  Preceding him in death was one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Thomas Hughes, of Blairsville; daughter and sons-in-law, Diane and Harold Tolbert, of Clarksville, GA; Kathy and Dewey Bryson, of Cartersville, GA; Sheila and Keith Freeman, of Murphy, NC; Patsy and Glen Tanner, of Brazelton, GA; Karla and Wade Sprayberry, of Blairsville; two stepdaughters and their husbands:  Kathy and Joel Patterson of Hayesville, NC; Karen and David Dyer of Blairsville, GA; two sisters:  Opal Deyton, of Blairsville and Sybil Gaines, of Gainesville, Ga; two brothers:  Olin Hughes of Young Harris, GA, and Worth Hughes, of Blairsville, GA; ten grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 1 great grandson; 1 step great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Jonathan Hood, Rev. Leon Henderson, Rev. Claude Thomas, and Rev. Mike Totherow officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Wade Sprayberry, Rex Owenby, Gerald Owenby, Dustin Phillips, David Dockery, Joel Patterson, David Dyer and Bobby Deyton.  Clifford Owenby and Cecil Hughes served as honorary pallbearers.  Music was presented by Ned Wilcoxon, Rev. Henderson, and Rev. Totherow.

Burial was in Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Friday night, from 6 until 9 p.m.

Mr. Walter Barnes Hill, Jr., age 92, of Choestoe Valley Circle, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Hill was born on September 14, 1911 in Cobb Co., GA, the son of the late Walter Barnes Hill, Sr., and the late Rosa Grace McKinney Hill.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy of WWII.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Mae Davis Hill.  Mr. Hill was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Hill are one daughter and son-in-law, Grace and Leon Minter of Blairsville, four grandchildren, Tommy Hand of Griffin, Kenny Hand of Griffin, Tony Hand of Jonesboro, Peggy McLaughlin of Dayton, OH, nine great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 1 p.m. from the Sherwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, GA.

mr. paul joseph west

 

Mr. Paul Joseph West, age 15, of Skeenah Gap Road, Blairsville, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2005 in Union County.  Paul was born on July 12, 1989 in Fulton County, GA., the son of Marion Joseph West Jr., and the late Linda Diane Huddleston West.  He attended the Union County School system.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda West in 2003.  Paul was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Paul are his father, Joe West of Blairsville, two brothers, Dillion Mullavey of Blairsville, and Cournty Brice West of Duluth; grandparents, Betty Huddleston of East Point, Ga, and Marion Joseph West Sr., of Stockbridge, GA, several aunts, uncles, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the rev. Brent Chatham officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Tommy Ingram, Tommy Livigni, Andy, Robby and Mike Montgomery, Emmanual Neese and Darrell Allen.  Interment followed at 3:30 p.m. from the Forest Lawn Cemetery in College Park, GA.

mrs. audie mae bell

 

Mrs. Audie Mae Bell, age 87, of Jewell Mason Road, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2005 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Bell was born on July 15, 1017 in Zolfo Springs, FL, the daughter of the late Jess Crawford and the late Vera Peel Crawford.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil R. Bell and a sister, Dorothy Hanshaw.  Mrs. Bell was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving Mrs. Bell are one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Richard C. Urban, two grandchildren, Ricky and Lisa Urban, Dayna and Dale Fisher, three great grandchildren, Derrick, Sydney and Austin, niece, Gussie Frame, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.  Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Zolfo Springs, FL.

In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests donations may be made to the Womenís Enrichment Center, in Mrs. Bellís memory.

Mrs. Ruby C. Warmbrod, age 92, of Notla Vista Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday, march 15, 2005 at her home following a brief illness.  Mrs. Warmbrod was born on March 19, 1912 in belvedere, TN, the daughter of the late Edwin Janson and the late Amelia Liechty Janson.  Mrs. Warmbrod was a member of the First United Church of Belvidere.

Surviving Mrs. Warmbrod are two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Steve Bennett of Blairsville, Mary and Charles Washington of Peachtree City, GA; one granddaughter, Candace (Bennett) and David Christensen of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 18, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the First United Church in Belvidere, TN, with Minister Dale Barrington officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the First United Church Cemetery fund in Mrs. Warmbrodís memory.
