jane emma mcclure little

 

Mrs. Jane Emma McClure Little, age 75 of Culberson Road in Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2004 in the Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home, following an extended illness.  Mrs. Little was born on April 7, 1928 in Cherokee County, NC., the daughter of the late Tom McClure and the late Amy Lovingood McClure.  She was a lifelong resident of Union County.  Mrs. Little was preceded in death by her husband, Ford Little in 1989; five brothers, Noah, Lloyd, Albert, Porter and Jerry McClure; and one sister, Virginia Richards.  She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Little are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joanne Gower of Lawrenceville, GA., Jackie and Dannie Dillard of Blairsville, Janie Little and Mike Postell of Blairsville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Johnny and Betty Dillard of Murphy, Reid Little of Blairsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hadley and Geneva McClure of Blairsville, Bobby and Marie McClure of Culberson; one sister, Pearl Richards of Morganton; sisters-in-law, Lillie McClure and Minnie McClure; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 from the Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. David Timmer and Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating.  Special music was presented by Dianne Parker.  The following gentlemen served as Pallbearers, Travis and Kevin Stalcup, Justin Dillard, Johnny and Jimmy McClure and Daniel Webster.  Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.

ruby mae lee

 

Mrs. Ruby Mae Lee of Murphy Highway in Blairsville passed away on Friday, march 19, 2004 in the Union County Nursing Home, following an extended illness.  Mrs. Lee was born o  July 25, 1921 in Tullahoma, TN., the daughter of the late Ernest Pitts and the late Eva Davis Pitts.  Mrs. Lee attended Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Lee is her loving husband of fifty years, Thomas Clyde Lee of Blairsville; one son, John Michael Lee of Cincinnati, OH; one sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Henry Dupont of Blairsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Alice Pitts of Clarkesville, TN., Raymond and Martha Nell Pitts of Clarkesville, TN; two grandchildren, Joshua Lee, Christ and his wife, Erin Lee; two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Patrick Lee; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, march 22, 2004 from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Loys Waters officiating.  Mrs. Lee’s favorite hymns were presented for the service.  Interment followed from the Holly Hill Cemetery in Fairburn, GA.

betty l. taylor

 

Mrs. Betty L. Taylor, age 60, of Nelson Circle in Blairsville, passed away on Sunday, march 21, 2004 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Taylor was born on January 5, 1944 in Union County, the daughter of the late Arthur Helton and the late Thelma Hill Helton.  She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County.  She had been employed with Tuckers Inn Restaurant for over seven years.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Helton, Jr. and Willie Paul Helton; and a sister, Barbara Ann Helton.  Mrs. Taylor was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Taylor are two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Rev. Michael Anderson of Blairsville, Nancy and Ricky Smith of Blairsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Junior and Danielle Taylor of Blairsville; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Martin and Millie Helton of Roseburg, OR., Tommy and Jannie Helton of Gainesville, Marcus Helton of Flowery Branch, GA; grandchildren, Joseph, Jessica and Jacob Anderson, Chris Churchill, Sarah Barrett, Spencer and Jeffrey Smith; one great-grandchild, Kaylie Barrett; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, march 23, 2004 from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Anderson, Joseph Anderson and Rev. Tommy Helton officiating.  Special music was presented by Bernice Collins, Judy and Jim Thompson and Goldie Nichols.  The following gentlemen served as Pallbearers, Rodney and Glenn Helton, Donald Taegue, Keith Taylor, Larry Collins and Chris Churchill.  Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church Cemetery.

clyde ronald bruce

 

Mr. Clyde Ronald Bruce, age 44, of Blairsville, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 19, 2004 at his home.

Mr. Bruce was born in Fulton County, GA., Wednesday, March 9, 1960, the son of Clyde and Hazel Nichols Bruce.  He had lived in the Blairsville area most of his life and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Nichols Bruce.

Surviving is his wife, Pauline Bruce of the home; a son, Enoch Ronald Bruce, a daughter, Zipporah Louise Bruce; his father and step-mother, Clyde and Linda Bruce; two step-children, Cayse and Jessica Grindstaff; step-grandparents, Emmett and Sarah Moore; a step-sister, Deanna Gentry; several uncles, aunts and cousins also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 21, 2004 at the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville with Rev. Tim Garrett and Rev. Harrison Bradley officiating.  Music was provided by Larry Nichols, Darron Nichols and Dwain Brackett.

Interment was in the New Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Larry Nichols, Darron Nichols, David Bruce, Don Bruce, Dwain Brackett and Tim Odom serving as Pallbearers.

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was entrusted by the family for the arrangements.

barry raymond mcelroy

 

Mr. Barry Raymond McElroy, age 62, of Blairsville, passed away Saturday, march 20, 2004 at his residence.

Mr. McElroy had lived here since June, 2003, moving here from Florida.  He was a Seventh Day Adventist.

Survivors include his father, Ray McElroy of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; four children, Dorothy Duval, Chris McElroy, Jess McElroy and Judy Swenning, all of Texas; two sisters, Gail Stone of New Jersey and Linda Reed of Florida; several grandchildren and a special friend, Renee Ninov of Blairsville.

No services are planned at this time.

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.

mrs. willie may taylor

 

Mrs. Willie Mae Taylor, age 92, of Beale Court Drive in Blairsville, passed away on Friday, march 19, 2004 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Taylor was born on September 19, 1911 in Eatonton, GA., the daughter of the late George Howard of McMahon and the late Hixie Spruce McMahon.  She retired from Eastern Airlines in 1970.  Moving to Blairsville in 1990 from Blue Ridge, where she had lived for over twenty years, she was a member of the Fannin County Hospital Auxiliary for a number of years.  She loved Square Dancing and the Atlanta Braves.  She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, faithfully attending in Blue Ridge and The First United Methodist Church of Union County.

Preceded in death by her first husband, William Sam Deloach in 1956 and by her second husband, Ernest E. Taylor in 1994.  She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William and JoAnna Deloach of Blairsville; two nieces, Betty Anderson Bogle of Dublin and Susan Waldrop of Madison, FL; one nephew, George Howard McMahon of Gadsen, AL; four grandchildren, Debbie Jameson of Belaire, TX., Scott Deloach of Adventura, FL., Vickie Hornick of Riverview, FL., Curtis Deloach of Summerset, KY; eleven great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held at Chastain memorial Park Cemetery in Blue Ridge.
