mr. david herndon taylor

 

Mr. David Herndon Taylor, age 72, of Highland Ridge East, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2003 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Taylor was born on April 11, 1930 in St. Paul, MN, the son of the late Herndon Taylor and the late Abbygail Sargent Taylor.  He had retired from the United States Marine Corp where he was in the Korean and Vietnam wars.  He was a member of the Marine Corp League, NAFRA and was a member of the Desota Masonic Lodge F&AM.  Mr. Taylor was of the Presbyterian faith.

Surviving Mr. Taylor are his loving wife of thirty nine years, Catherine Burch Taylor of Blairsville; one son, Randy Taylor of Chattanooga, TN; one brother, Peter Taylor of Arlington, VA; many other relatives and friends also survive.  A private service will be held at a later date.

molane f. brown

 

Molane F. Brown, 88, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Smyrna, died Thursday, March 20, 2003.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Sosebee BROWN.  Mr. Brown was a former active deacon at Locust a Grove Baptist Church.  He was a World War II Army veteran as well as a member of “The Brotherhood” for years.

Survivors include sister Alene B. Sentell of Smyrna, GA; brother James Ernest Brown of Smyrna, GA and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service is graveside at Westview Cemetery at 11:00 am Saturday, March 22nd with Rev. Cliff Duvall officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Locust Grove Baptist Church, 4223 West Atlanta Rd., Smyrna, GA 30080.

mrs. dovie ruth young

 

Mrs. Dovie Ruth Young, age 76, of Branan Lodge, Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 21, 2003 in the North East Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Evans, and a son, Larry John Young; parents, Kate Hayes and Lester Withrow; grandson, William Mixon; and brothers, Homer Withrow and Burley Withrow.

Survivors include: daughter, Judy McCullar of Haleyville, Alabama; granddaughters, Angela Evans of Blairsville, GA, Cindy King, Allison Brinson, Vanessa Bennett, all of Haleyville, AL; great grandchildren, Katey Beck and Ally Brinson, Caroline and Will King and Courtney Bennett, all of Haleyville, AL; sister, Mary Ellis and Ida Hackney of Chatsworth, Bonnie Panter of Dalton and Edra Russi of Florida; brothers, Joe Withrow of Dawnville and James Webb of Fairburn, GA; nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Myron Collier of Calhoun.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth with the Rev. Eddie Herring officiating.  Burial will follow in the Center Valley Cemetery.  Nephews will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6L00-9L00 p.m., and Monday until the funeral hour.

frank b.  lee

 

Mr. Frank B. Lee, 79, of Blairsville, formerly of Lyndon, IL passed away at his home on Thursday, March 20, 2003

The son of Daniel J. and Rittie L. (Forester) Lee, Mr. Lee was born in Shoal Creek, GA on March 30, 1923.  He served in the U.AS. Army in Europe as a part of the invasion force on Omaha BeachNormandy, France during WWII and also in 5 other military campaigns.  He was employed with various auto body shops in Elgin, IL and throughout Whiteside County, IL.  Mr. Lee was a member of Coosa United Methodist Church, Blairsville, GA; former member of First Congregational Church in Prophetstown, IL; and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Mr. Lee was predeceased by his parents; three sisters: Nellie Batten, Bertha Svedarsky, and Margaret Lee; seven brothers: Fred, William, Robert E., James, Henry, Alvin, and Lewis Lee.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife Barbara I. Howe; four daughters: Melody Lee of Elgin, IL; Kathleen Taggart of Bolingbrook, IL, Michelle (Mrs.  John) Forrest of New Orleans, LA; Marcia (Mrs. Lee) Cox of Myakka City, FL; four sons: Michael (Lori) Lee of Prophetstown, IL; Matthew Lee of Morrison, IL; Martin Lee of Dallas, GA and Frank (Minnie) Lee of Wayne, IL; ten grandchildren: Rebecca Lee, Lisa Cullinan, Angie Vasquez, mark Carrasco, Tamara Schneitter, Elizabeth and Mayci Jo Lee, Jeremy Waite, Monica Spong, Myles Cox; ten great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren: one sister Mrs. Dorothy Cleve of Boca Raton, FL.

Funeral service was Monday, March 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison, IL.  Rev. Dr. James A. Camp officiated.  Interment was in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL with graveside military rites by the Morrison American Legion & VFW.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
