Miss
Ruby O. Godfrey, age 91, of Wesley Mountain Drive, Blairsville passed
away on
Thursday, March 20, 2008 in Union General Hospital following an
extended
illness. Miss Godfrey was born on
September 20, 1915 in Fannin County, GA, the daughter of the late James
B.
Godfrey and the late Carrie Rose Godfrey.
Miss Godfrey was a nurse most of her life in several different
hospitals
around the country. One of her
supervisors wrote this about Ruby, “Miss Godfrey’s greatest fault, if
we can
call it so, lies upon perfection from herself, her co-workers and the
situation
in which she finds herself, whatever it may be.
Her standards, both in her personal life and in any job she
does, are
very high, therefore making it quite difficult at times for her to
accept
second best in a situation which demands it.
She takes the welfare of her patients very much to heart and
spends many
extra hours off duty in concerning herself with that very thing.” This critique sums up Roby’s life, helping
those in need. She was preceded in death
by her parents and seven sisters. She
was of the Protestant faith.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date at Branan
Lodge and will be announced. In lieu of
flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to
the
Union-Towns Humane Society in memory of Miss Godfrey.
