Mr.
Carlos
C. Turner, age 85, of 1150 Fairview Street, Rockmart, died Tuesday,
March 19,
1996 at his resident. He was born May
27, 1910, in Blairsville, Georgia. He was a former school teacher, a retired Aragon
Mills
employee, a farmer, and a member of the Rockmart Second Baptist Church.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, James Lon and Susie Duckworth Turner.
He is
survived by his wife, Mrs. Flo Nix Turner of Rockmart; 3 sons, Mr. Leon
Turner
of Dothan, Alabama, Mr. Billy Turner and Mr. Gerald Turner, both of
Rockmart; 3
daughters: Mrs. Lorayne Morris of Cartersville, Mrs. Joann Wigley and
Mrs.
Wanda Kelley, both of Rockmart; brother, Mr. Carl Turner of
Gainesville;
sister, Mrs. Mary Jackson of Blairsville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great
grandchildren also survive.
The funeral
service was held Wednesday, March 20, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the Freeman
Harris
Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Robert Wright officiating.
Interment followed in Rockmart Memorial
Gardens.
The
following grandsons served as pallbearers, Dave Turner, Chuck Turner,
Clay
Turner, Scott Turner, Robert Taff, Shawn Kelley and Doug Morris.

Mr. Bill
Brothers, 65, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday evening,
March 18,
1996 in Knoxville, Tennessee, following a brief illness.
Mr.
Brothers was born on May 11, 1930, in Etowah County, Alabama,
a son of the late William Dan Brothers and Maggie Inez Bickers Brothers. He retired from Southern Bell in 1980 and has
resided permanently in Blairsville since.
Mr. Brothers was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of
Blairsville, a Gideon, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. brothers was
preceded in death by a son, Joseph Michael Brothers.
Surviving are
his wife, Mrs. Ruby M. Brothers, of the home; son, Robert William
Brothers and
daughter in law, Ellen, of Clarkston, Georgia; daughter in law, Debra
Brothers,
of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren: Stephanie B. Perry, Jennifer,
Melissa, Shane
Michael and Krystle Brothers; sisters, Mrs. T.E. Reid, of Cleveland,
Georgia;
and Mrs. Dot Davidson of Blairsville; brothers, Horace Clayton
Brothers, of
Ellijay, Georgia, and Sidney A. Brothers, of Greenville, SC; and a
number of
nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, March 21, 1996 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cochran
Funeral home in Blairsville with Rev. Danny Parris officiating. Mr. Terry Hooper directed the music. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Ken Dooley, Horace Parker, Clyde Collins, Russ Crawford,
Marcus
Taylor, and Michael Worthy. Interment was
in Choestoe Cemetery.

Mr. Abe
Lincoln Wilson, 95, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March
19,
1996 in Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee.
Mr. Wilson was born in Union County, Georgia, on January 9,
1901, a son
of the late James Monroe Wilson and Axie Winnie Jane Woody Wilson. He was a retired farmer and a lifelong
resident of this area, and one time Deputy Sheriff of Union County. Mr. Wilson attended Shady Grove Methodist
Church. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death
by his wife, Mary, who passed away on January 31, of this year.
Surviving are
daughters Joyce Collins, of Gainesville, Georgia; Martha Deaver, of
Blairsville, and Carol Nix of Blairsville; sons, Elbert Wilson, of
Smith Creek,
Michigan, Tom Wilson, of West Charleston, SC and William “Bill” Wilson,
of
Blairsville; twenty seven grandchildren, and several great
grandchildren and
great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, March 24, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of
the
funeral home with Rev. Willis Garrett and Rev. Randy Chapman
officiating. Grandson served as
pallbearers, with
interment in Shady Grove Methodist Church.
Special music was presented by Earl and Ida Lou Bishop.

Mr.
Mrs. Sigrid Ann Walhraven Baker, age 53,
died March 19, 1996, at her residence in Blairsville, Georgia. A long time Norcross
resident, moving to Blairsville several years ago.
Mrs. Baker was a security officer at Allied
Security Company.
Surviving
are her husband, Robert Baker of Blairsville,
Georgia; step-son Michael Baker, from Cumming, Georgia, Mark Baker from
Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Lynn Messerschmidt from Columbus, Ohio and
Chris
Berquist, from Marinsco, MI; and two grandchildren, Sarah Baker and
Jonah
Parks.
Funeral
services were Friday, March 22, 1996 at 1 p.m. from
Patterson’s Norcross Chapel on Buford Highway.
Dr. Jerry Carringer officiated. Interment
was held at the Norcross Cemetery in Norcross, Georgia.
