norene stover

 

Norene Stover, age 72 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.  Norene was born Thursday, December 7, 1933 in Union County, Georgia, to the late Gus and Dollie (Stephens) Thomas.  She was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.  Norene was preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow Rogers and her second husband, William Stover.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Marcella and Dale Underwood of Blairsville; son & daughter-in-law, Rex and Traci Rogers of Blairsville; daughter & son-in-law, Caroline and Raymond Mull of Morganton; son & daughter-in-law, Rev. Gary and Jodi Rogers of Blairsville; sister, Odie Vandiver of Blairsville; sister Leona Harkins of Dahlonega, Georgia; sister, Edna Hughes of Blairsville; sister, Pauline Sosebee of Blairsville; brother, Harold Thomas of Blairsville; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives ;and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Plott and Rev. Gary Rogers officiating.  Music was provided by Jonathan Adams and Merle Fortenberry.  Interment followed in Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Chad Underwood, Ray Mull, Brian Mull, William Wayne Adams, Troy Ledford and Larry Thomas.  The family received friends at the funeral home form 6-9, Wednesday, March 22.

idell lunsford

 

Idell Lunsford, 81, died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Coastal manor Nursing Home in Ludowici after a long illness.

She was a native of Union County, GA and lived most of her life in Long County.  She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Union County.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lunsford, Jr. and a son, Thomas Robert Lunsford, Sr.

Surviving are a daughter, Rachel Groover of Statesboro; a daughter-in-law, Lila Lunsford of Hinesville; four grandchildren, Anthony Groover of Statesboro, Teressa Groover of Comer, Thomas Lunsford, Jr., of Pensacola, FL and Tiffany Cooper of Ludowici; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches, GA.

Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel in charge of arrangements.

mr. robert lee grigsby

 

Mr. Robert Lee Grigsby, age 73, of Stone Brook Circle, Blairsville passed away on Friday, March 24, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Grigsby was born on Aug. 6, 1932 in Kansas City, MO, the son of the late George Henry Grigsby and the late Helen McCombs Grigsby.  He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War and had twenty-one years of service.  He was a member of the Blairsville Kiwanis Club.  Mr. Grigsby was a member of Bellview United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mr. Grigsby are his loving wife, Brigitte Beck Grigsby of Blairsville, three sons, Robert L. Grigsby Jr. of Kansas City, MO, Kurt Grigsby of Colonial Heights, VA, Clinton Kluesner of Colonial Heights; one daughter, Sandra Schaffer of Kansas, one sister, Helen Brittsan of Roy WA, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 3 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Patt Miller and Rev. Mike Bias officiating.  Special music was presented by Jeri Ruth Roberts.
